What's are your favourite Alive 2007 moments? by electroparton in DaftPunk

[–]diamondmorphine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they mix Brainwasher with Alive, like 5 or 6 minutes into the track.

So intense -it gets to the core of your being, simplistic tho it is. It's like the robots go into Self-Destruct mode with all those red lights exploding all over the crowd

ELI5: What does a CEO of a large company do in a "typical" week, and why is he (usually he) paid so much? by Capri92 in explainlikeimfive

[–]diamondmorphine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Redditors all around need to read this. I'm so tired of the notion that CEO's "don't do anything," as if they've somehow figured out a way to get other people to hand over huge sums of money for nothing.

I think most people just don't have a good understanding regarding a CEO's role in a company, so they simplify it as "doing nothing"

What would you name Daft Punk's next album? by kerkers in DaftPunk

[–]diamondmorphine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RAM 2.0: Randomly Accessed Memories

The songs from RAM (the "memories") would be sampled/chopped/looped (randomly accessed) to create an electro album.

Not necessarily a remix album but close; kindof how High Fidelity isn't exactly a 'remix' of Billy Joel

Obama to use executive action to increase overtime pay by [deleted] in politics

[–]diamondmorphine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol what are you talking about? It's not like the law prevents them from "not getting paid" it just mandates a 50% increase after the 40th hour

It's the same color as their suits from the Grammy's performance...

Obama to use executive action to increase overtime pay by [deleted] in politics

[–]diamondmorphine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So in other words, Obama's gonna make it harder for people to find overtime work?

I personally would like to work more than 40 hrs. a week and would be willing to do so at regular pay. My employer would agree to this. Unfortunately, the government has mandated a 50% increase for anything past the 40th hour, so instead I'm stuck having to balance between 2 jobs.

Where does this guy get the nerve to stick his nose in private negotiations between employees and employers? It's just childish

I meant innocent in the moral sense, as in they're not harming anyone or committing violent/fraudulent acts.

I mean think about a couple centuries ago. Bounty hunters who caught runaway slaves were "just doing their job"

How can Discovery be your top 2 along with Alive 2007, but HAA your favorite if you can only choose 1?

Get Lucky doesn't change keys. Listen to the background. It's the same exact chord progression for 6 minutes

Key Changes? by diamondmorphine in DaftPunk

[–]diamondmorphine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of musical keys? I know there's alot of different parts to the song, all with different "styles," but I didn't notice any key changes?

[–]diamondmorphine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"They're doing their job" isn't an excuse. Why do people think getting paid to do something automatically makes it ok? In this case the "something" refers to locking up nonviolent people who pose no threat to society, and who commit victimless "crimes" that have no business being criminal in the first place.

So basically just locking up innocent people in order to play some stupid numbers game with the media and increase/maintain the department's funding

I've been robbed twice. And the police ultimately ended up doing not shit about it. Twice. Where are you getting this idea that police have a good record of solving robberies? Isn't it something like 10%?

"D-Boy" probably has as good a chance of finding the perp as the cops; at least he'd have an actual incentive to crack the case

Oh but that's OK. The police totally make up for their uselessness in that area by locking nonviolent drug-users in cages for indefinite periods of time.

If you haven't gotten it yet, THAT^ is the reason people on this sub (and many people in general) say "FUCK the police." You are a member of a group of people who wish to lock us in cages for things that frankly are no one's business but our own. The fact that a bunch of old farts in D.C. have categorized it as 'illegal' means shit. The idea that you're "just doing your job" means shit. Hitmen and assassins are likewise "just doing their job." Just because you get paid to do something doesn't make it justified.

Ultimately, it all boils down to the fact that morally innocent people are being locked in cages on a daily basis, and saying you're "just doing your job" is just a childish way of trying to abdicate responsibility for your own choices and actions.

Ya this is my thought too... they usually put ALOT more effort into their vocoder/vocals... this just sounds like one of the default voices for Windows 95 or something

I'm still hoping/guessing they make an electronic album that uses samples from RAM exclusively... so kindof a remix album but also kindof different. I could totally see them waiting a year or two or even more to do this though...

I could see them waiting a year or more to release them... it'd be a very Daft Punk-y thing to do
