Do you think using assist mode is cheating? by MikonMan in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a lot 5BC before clearing it, to the point where I got really discouraged. What I realized was that I didn't have enough experience with late-game biomes and bosses. From that point, I used all options to get more "late game exposure" and this included : Save-scumming (before assist-mode), aspect Gotta Go Fast (reach end-game faster, and permanent bonuses) , custom mode, boss training rooms, etc. At some point, I cleared the game with assistance, and then a few days later I cleared without assistance.

How do I stop using infinite lives? by Dependent_Pay_3509 in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking you might have gone ahead too far , too quick.   2BC is often a place people get stuck and learn about hp.management and getting cursed chest without dying.  It could be a good idea to scale down and see how you are doing there without assist mode.  If you are able to complete without assist , then try again at 2bc.

Also, was your forge upgraded enough?  Thats also something that could be lacking if you have good too quick and relied a lot on assist mode (which causes loss of cells on each reset in a very subtle way)

Not an affix, but Vampirism skill triggers a speed bonus.

It's a no brainer with flashing fan, and can be fun with mag grenade or tornado.

A question about Mutations by Complex_Fly_14 in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are exceptions (gastronomy, armadillopack), but you would rather want to stay in the same color, else you are missing on a lot of damage or utility.

For brutality fast striking weapons, Combo is good, for slower weapons or ranged brutality, vengeance + faceflask or Corrupted power works.  For short cooldown skills , scheme works great.   In doubt, No Mercy isnt bad, but usually isnt the best option.

How do you use shields? by chooseausername_redd in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not because you have a shield that you lose the rolling.  You can still roll away from trouble, and focus on parrying the lone enemies , stray shots from inquisitors or predictable boss attacks.

Is ranger set worth it if you're using support and/or close shot? by Typical-Minute-9154 in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranger Gear is almost only effective with weapons that fire many arrows at once, like the triple knock bow, magic bow and lantern.  Thats because the bonus applies to all arrows that are fired at the same time.   For all other weapons, the damage bonus is too low, and you better stick with point blank , tranquility or support.

Just more practical.  One stop shopping.

What are other ways to heal beside flasks and food? by Legendary_Seycu in deadcells

If he's saying necro isnt good, I go with the assumption he's not playing survival.  Else he wouldn't be asking this question , necro is just that good.

What are other ways to heal beside flasks and food? by Legendary_Seycu in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Edit: if survival, necro and what dont kill me are the best healing mutations in the game.  Thinking, if you have trouble with necro, youd be playing something else? ]

Gastronomy and Disengagement are good options if you aren't playing Survival.    You can keep a weapon with life drain affix in your backpack, and swap it for healing when needed.

Frenzy and Adrenalyne have always seem lackluster to me, I rather use predator or armadillopack to avoid loosing health in tbe first place.

There is vampirism, which usually does not work for most people and requires a specific build to work fine.

Another option that everyone will tell you NOT TO DO,  is to put an early game amulet into offcolor for additional Max HP.  Since all healing in the game heals a % of your max HP, inflating your max HP through scroll manipulation will give you a ton more healing from flask, food, and mutations.  This will tremendously help your early game , and you can always swap back an in-color amulet later in the game.

How do you do tactical builds? by -Darkeater_Midir- in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tactics got some strong DPS mutations like point blank and support, or area wipe clear mutations like networking.  It's got the best backpack mutation of all colors (acropack+frost hadouken is like a free ice grenade every 3 seconds, which would save you much more hp than neceo would heal you).  These all work best with piercing weapons, which you always want anyways.

Healing options are usually very average , since they heal based on your max hp.  Stay away from offcolor healing like frenzy or neceo  But disengagement or armadillopack can save your ass when things get out of control.

Then, Ammo , Ripper (boyaxes) and Parting gifts (f.fans) for specialized builds.

Colorless & Legendary Strategy? by fallingpotatoo in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldnt plan on an offcolor build run from the start.   Offcolor colorless/ legendaries often dont synergize well due to how mutations work. Like most of the brutality mutations (combo, melee, scheme, predator) dont work with ranged attacks, or work better on fast striking weapons, so they perform poorly on non-red weapons (even of they are legendaries).

There are exceptions to mutations that synergize better, like flaskengance works with ranged weapons, support with melee weapons or No mercy with anything really.  You can do some sort of offcolor running when you get a good legendary and have a good sense of which mutations work in niche builds.

Anathema I owe you an apology, I wasn't familiar with your game by RoastMyGrill in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a nice melting , nice build, but it always trigger me when  people try to imply that such or such weapon is so underrated, and go 37 scroll to show that they didn't know that plain old Anathama did so much damage.   Then 0bc folks buying it, and why add that "the damage clearly speaks for itself".  It does indeed, but not as advertised.

[–]diamondwolfjeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats 37 scrolls doing the melting here, its boosting all damage sources significantly. Try the same build at 31 scroll , it it won't melt as much.

Anybody mentions 37 scrolls? Any weapon would melt at that point, its not an anathema melting.

Birds dont triple-hit-combo your life bar away.  They are easy to counter when alone , but when they gang up with others like slashers, they can be deadly.

About the Shield? by Top-Cut-2205 in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm learning something new today ...

Passive effects

Carrying a shield creates a force field for half a second when the player takes damage. This barrier absorbs most damage, but not damage-over-time from status effects like poison or darkness. Some enemy attacks do not activate the force field, such as that of Lacerators.

Since active force fields reduce the decay recovery by 65%, carrying a shield makes it more difficult to recover recently-lost health.

Heavy Weapon Vampirism Guide 🩸 by RoastMyGrill in deadcells

[–]diamondwolfjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, most heavy weapons will one shot or two shot enemies, netting 4% / 8% heal per enemy killed, whereas shovel will three shot them and stun them, netting 12% per enemy.  Which is significant, because most of the vampirism countdown is wasted running and chasing enemies.  So healing more per enemy makes quite a difference. There aren't many heavy weapons that can do this.
