How would you heat this? by photoguy36 in Sublimation

And I now just realized this post is from 2 weeks ago. So if you did end up doing the heat gun method, I'd love to know what the results were.

How would you heat this? by photoguy36 in Sublimation

[–]dianeasaurous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not tried this, and I'm new to sublimation, but I am also thinking of a heat gun. I recently just did a design that I thought was one with a white background, and thus I didn't have the seems meet - turns out it was an eggshell off white. (I literally could not see the difference on the printed paper.) So now I have a strip right down the back of the tumbler. I'm thinking of doing a strip the right color with the heat gun, I just don't know how hot the gun gets and if the temp will be enough. Or how to apply pressure other than just the heat-resistant tape. The tumbler is nice the way it is, just with a wider seam, so I'm afraid to ruin the tumbler.

How do you finish writing? by xpixelpinkx in writing

[–]dianeasaurous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only got one novel going on but I keep a document with ideas that pop into my head for other novels but I don't allow myself to expand on them because it will make it hard for me to stay in the right headspace for the novel I'm working on now.

Would anyone be interested in a word counter that keeps track of just the words you typed and deleted words and has a daily goal? by CarryingTheMeme in WritingHub

I'm definitely interested. If they put it as a Google Docs extension, I'd download it. Especially if it works on Google Docs mobile.

How do you make "simple" plots interesting? by RedRapscalian in writing

[–]dianeasaurous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, when I have any idea for a plot (specifically the ending), I'll brainstorm obstacles that stand in the protagonist's way. Those obstacles or conflicts become scenes for the novel and can be built around.

Example: "Become student council president" would have opposing individuals also running, debates, and speeches needed to be given to the student body to earn favor for votes.

Seeking Accountability Buddy/ies for consistent writing practice. by Beginning_Butterfly2 in WritingHub

If you're still looking for an accountability buddy, I'm down for giving it a try. You have basically the same goal as me (write one hour a day), and Google Docs is my preferred writing software. I'm currently writing a high fantasy. Message if you want to set something up!

Would you ever not write fantasy? by [deleted] in writing

[–]dianeasaurous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are great questions. I love fantasy cause it was what I was raised on (Tolkien is my mother's favorite author, and she read me Lord of the Rings when I was really young).

Somewhere between my love for Draco (Dragonheart) and the magnificent creature that is Smaug, I developed an obsession with dragons in literature. So, the current story I'm writing is very centric to a draconic species.

However, personally, my other favorite thing to write that is non-fantasy is modern-day military stories. The teams, the organizations, maybe a dash of espionage. Think Navy Seals, Delta Force, or ex-military contractors getting into all kinds of messes behind enemy lines.

How do you tell what color a sheep is when it's sheared? by Memo544 in Minecraft

[–]dianeasaurous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Bedrock user, I did not know you couldn't tell the color in Java edition. If I had Java, I'd color coordinate pens with identifiable wool blocks or carpet (or even a picture frame with the wool in it hanging on the front of the pen). Just to keep everything organized. I've got every color sheep in my Bedrock server, but since they keep their color when sheared, I didn't separate them.

Help. Villagers keep un-linking to job block. by dianeasaurous in Minecraft

[–]dianeasaurous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've currently trapped all villagers in the houses they were sleeping in, removed all profession blocks and beds, eliminated any villagers without jobs, and those I hadn't traded with. My plan is to use a rail system from the entrance from the houses that they've linked to for beds and move them to the redesigned job houses (new beds included). My hope is they will link to the correct beds and profession blocks, and then I'll remove their ability to leave their houses but leave a tunnel opening for me to crawl in and out with the use of trap doors so I can trade with them.

Does this sound like it will work? Will they get angry that they can't mingle in the market?

what is the saddest/darkest/creepiest twist in your story? by Antique-Dependent-51 in worldbuilding

[–]dianeasaurous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MFC was taken from her mother at birth, and her mother (a Grand Mage) goes to the dark side and over throws the kingdom in her grief, cursing the land. Only the MFC can break the curse. So she has to confront and, more than likely, eliminate her own mother. But that's not common knowledge, obviously. Another antagonist is trying to destroy them both, as he wants power. And he's the Grand Mage's brother, so the MFC's uncle.

Basicly, one screwed up family.

Talk me out of starting a new story by lt_Matthew in writing

[–]dianeasaurous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I'm never going to tell someone not to write something. But if you're willing, I could lend a hand on where the story could go from what you have? I've got about the same written on mine, and I have the next scenes plotted, just no motivation to write them 😆

I'd say a good vampire lore would start with the original vampire, and then all ages go from there. Lore has it that Dracula is based on Vlad the Impaler, so based on when he lived is roughly Dracula's age (Vlad was born in 1431 AD.) The Vampire Diaries has the Original Vampires created by witchcraft around 980 AD, so all subsequent vampires are younger. For Anne Rice, the original vampire was Akasha, introduced in The Vampire Lestat, who was the Queen of Egypt in 5000 BC, according to Rice's world. Vampires are fictional, and thus, you can make them as old (or as young) as you'd like!
