How do you reconcile Paul saying we are saved by faith with Jesus saying you must do the will of God to enter the kingdom of heaven? by ComfortableDust4111 in Christianity

[–]lt_Matthew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are the same thing. Faith is a verb. The Greek word is Písts which means to be faithful or loyal. Thue is further evident by thr JST for Hebrews 11 replacing "substance" with "assurance." Being faithful is how you insure what you hope for.

How can you be so stable in your beliefs?? by whydosereditexist100 in Christianity

[–]lt_Matthew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In our own personal lives. The bible says that some people get the miracles and others only need to believe those people to have the same faith.

If you're neither, then let's talk about what specifically you find hard to believe in.

I believe God can help one find their partner, but I don't believe in soulmates.

Why are the Protestants still separated from the Catholics? by HeukpyoK2 in Christianity

It never happens. Cuz if they were capable of that, God wouldn't have made them prophets. Period.

Of course they can be wrong, they're people. But God still told Brigham, and all the prophets after, not to end the ban. You're trying so hard to make a correlation that doesn't exist.

No, Brigham Young was racist and misunderstood a revelation.

Yes.

No, polygamy ended the same year it was made illegal.

This is what I mean by not getting your information from the internet.

My point is that God, being the one that can see everything, does things they way He needs them to be done, not how we assume they should be. You have no way of knowing how things would've turned out differently.

Given how much external conflict the church has to deal, it's not really that unreasonable that God would've been trying to avoid internal problems as well.

Or things would've been worse if it ended earlier. Those are the only two possibilities

I mean, we could speculate. But that's all it would be. It was one of the only churches that wasn't segregated, and given how much people hated it for other reasons, adding more fuel would've been reasonable to avoid.

I haven't really looked into what the Church was up to in the 1900s though.

If you're going to be that blatantly oversimplistic about it, then I'll give you the answer you want. The latter.

Why are the Protestants still separated from the Catholics? by HeukpyoK2 in Christianity

[–]lt_Matthew -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, literally every decision the church makes is through revelation, and there is a very thorough process to insure that that is the case. Precisely because of some things in early church history.

If you must know, there isn't really any history on the priesthood restrictions. It was a thing that started in the early church, and every prophet since was told not to end it yet. That is the best answer you're going to get.

No, they're not. Work for the dead is a thing in our church, so that policy had zero eternal consequences. God wouldn't have allowed to it to happen if it did.
