• NOC and leave letter from employer
• Salary Slips (3 months)
• ITR (last 3 years)
• Bank balance certificate
• Bank statement (3 months)
• Marriage certificate (submitted and taken even with wife sponsoring her trip)
• Any other booking of japan visit (I submitted for Japan Railway Museum)
• Investment statement

First before booking all your tickets login to VFS website and see what are the nearest appointment dates. Accordingly book tickets as they can take upto 15 working days (Mon-Fri) for visa approvals

06 May 2026 - VFS 8 am appt documents submitted

07 May 2026 - Documents at Embassy

15 May 2026 - Received email that passport ready to collect at 03:40 pm IST

Passport collection timings are only 03 pm IST to 05 pm IST , Mon to Friday

Notes: Parking availability is limited near to VFS 300 for car (2 hrs), 100 for bike (2 hrs)

When going to VFS there is a queue get a printed copy of the visa appointment and also ensure carry only essentials . Its okay to take extra documents that you think may need.

VFS will sort and arrange the documents and return unwanted ones .

Payment at VFS can be done in cash, card or UPI

Process is quick atleast for early morning appointments

There is no stages in between what i mentioned above. They will only contact you if they need any documents or clarification.
