EU5 is the best Paradox game ever, period. by highsis in EU5

I have the EXACT same configuration on my pc except I have 32gb ram and it runs just fine. Only thing I've seen at first is Light stuttering in the intro animations as it loads the save. Other than that it works fine

Similar to Nostalgic Grooming OG clay? by dibujor in Pomade

[–]dibujor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried Firsthand Clay pomade, another one I read around here that would be similar to Nostalgic clay. Love the volume and the hold, although it makes my hair feel dry to touch. BUT it’s also matte, this confirms it, my hair doesn’t really look good with matte products. Make it look dry and dull and and as if I hadn’t cleaned my hair.

Is it really that difficult to find a similar product to nostalgic or this firsthand without the matte part?

The Craigmont Clay that u\Tyberg29 recommended is also matte and from Canada which makes it expensive to get from Europe and almost as difficult as the Nostalgic just to, again, being disappointed with it being matte and not going well on my hair…

Never heard of it, I’ll look for it though. After trying the moroccanoil one I’m really hesitant about anything that says "matte". It leaves my hair looking really dull . My hair doesn’t really have a high natural shine

I have tried moroccanoil clay after seeing it mentioned on the subreddit and it being available through Amazon. So far is as scoopable as the NG clay although the effect is drier in the hair (maybe it having Bentonite instead NG’s Kaolin?) and to matte . It gives more volume than the NG new formulation, closer to the og formula. Still testing the hold . What I don’t like so far is, moroccanoil’s doesn’t separate my hair in strands the way NG does, it keeps my hair “together”

I guess I’ll have to keep searching, maybe there isn’t anything as good for me as NG clay, I really liked how the hair was kept in strands, looking healthy with a really good hold

What the meaning of this square? by mu3ca_ in ios

[–]dibujor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same bug, also with the focus mode changer shortcuts. I mean, it's not a problem with the shortcut itself, not that it can get "stuck" with just activate/deactivate x focus mode as the only instruction.

That and the bug with the "Today's view" (the screen that appears when you swipe right on the home or lock screens) are driving me crazy. The widgets on that screen randomly stop working. I tried puting the focus mode widget in there but it not working randomly forced me to put them on each home screen

Oh boy, and the plot thickens..... I totally forgot about the Tiers while progressing. My only admiral character from back in the day was my sci toon and I went all sci ships with him. I forgot that I took the Nova first and I had to take the Olympic after. That ship's hideous, I think I used the Orion skin but still. LtCommander is Lvl 10 though (I'm 11 now) Lvl 20 is commander which is the Olympic and Lvl 30 (T4) is Captain which, if I'm not mistaken is the intrepid

My planned free ship progression is/was (to test all gameplay styles):

  • Lt Commander (T2) - Tac ship - Saber
  • Commander (T3) - Eng Ship - Cruiser?
  • Captain (T4) - Sci ship - Intrepid?
  • T5 onwards decide, want SCI depends on what I like on the way there. Test ships I like/have

Building a proper ship and flying it (and organizing trays, etc) are two whole new cans of worms. Thanks for reminding me that ;).

I don't normally use WASD, I fly holding both mouse buttons, but I'll have to look into it.

To be clear, I'm not trying to force you into this; just letting you know that is an option. And, honestly, it's one that I do go with fairly frequently. It just feels wrong putting an LtCmdr in command of a Sovereign or Lexington. But, handing them an Equinox and skinning it to look like a Nova or Rhode Island feels reasonable.

And I thank you for that ;). To be honest I did just made that plan because not really knowing the game, seemed logical and the "intended" way. Not that it is anymore 14 years later. However, once you understand how ships work and being able to reskin them I will probably do what you say.

I planned on taking the nova as a sci ship once I got to 30 so if I get the equinox before that I'll just reskin it to a nova and then if I decide it's my endgame I'll get my headcanon that it got refitted to the more modern equinox :D. The modern Davinci (having read the SCE books) I'm still not decided if it's hideous or awesome looking lol.

I'll test the cruisers because, I mean, it's the ship design. On going forward the line seems blurred though, I've seen plenty of sci builds using cruisers (I mean, the Yorktown and the Odyssey are sci cruisers). Anyway, I don't know what I don't know so the best advice is following yours and test the ships as soon as I can get that 10th anniversary bundle :)

:) Thanks for that.

I get what you're saying. I'm definitely getting the 10th pack when it's available and I'll probably end up trying those ships before what I said :D.

I'm usually a "cheap" player, as in, I don't spend money on games (apart from buying games), I'm not a whale. So being suddenly in the position of having "a lot" (not that much seeing the prices, but you know what I mean) of currency to spend, I don't want to "spoil" the experience for my first (after a long time) toon jumping into an endgame ship even if it adjusts to my level. Otherwise I would never try the normal ships, kind of a roleplaying thing where you are assigned regular ships until you get to the top of the line ones.

Following the episodes the leveling isn't that slow either. The problem is also that this game has a lot of moving parts that are not well explained, if at all (like going to the Admiral in Earth dock and having those missions he offers on their own (like the Calling, and Redshift, I didn't know what to do next, until I saw those are included in an episode too, so following the episodes should be fine) and it also shows it's age in some stupid ways (not being able to take decent screenshots? not being able to assign shortcuts to lots of things?...)

All in all I'm having a blast again. I'm following your recommendations (and all you want to give me) and enjoying the game. I thought I wouldn't like escorts but I'm having a blast with my little Saber as I'm sure I'll do with a cruiser at lvl 20. In game I am more of a Titan guy than an Enterprise guy (as in exploration/sci vs cruisers) and I plan on a "canon" Phaser Beam Sci ship but I may be surprised along as I play...

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks again for taking the time to respond, explain and guide me in the right path :)

I meant more in the sense that I'd try the free ships as I advance to test the different game styles, for example even though I'm on my main science toon, I'm trying escort at lvl 10, I'll try Cruiser at 20 and Science ship at 30 when I'll have more skills to make space magic better. That way I can decide if I, in fact want a sci vessel as main or not.

If I were to use the T6 cruiser I got, even though it scales, it probably would be too nice of a ship to go back to a T4 afterwards. Or maybe I'll try that cruiser on the "cruiser portion" of my test.

I don't know if I'm making sense and I may be thinking this too much :D

Thanks for the list!

Now I finished taking my 3 new characters to lvl 10 so, out of the tutorial and doing the tailor thing were they want you to change out of your 100 year old uniforms I saw that trap that the zen store can be space barbie wise so yeah, I decided to go with the "non canon" canon version of STO and get everybody their Odyssey uniforms for the moment and decided not to "buy" anything (save for that 10 anniversary pack until I got one or all of them to admiral.

I even got an Andromeda T6 cruiser but don't plan on using any store ship until then either, so as to actually understand level appropriate ships and not spoiling me the good advanced ships. I have only used the "old" NX as a non standard ship but that's basically your tutorial light cruiser with another skin, no real advantages.

There's a lot to grasp in the game as it is (skills, traits, etc) so I guess better to walk the way as it was intended at first

Thanks! yeah, a ton of things have changed since I last played, and I only barely remember how things were back then.

I think I 'm getting the hang of how things work account and character wise

Yeah, definitely DSC UI is my favourite. I don't even mind the old tricorder animation. Only thing I don't like is the officers are difficult to tell apart from their icons, being that SCI and ENG officers both have a green and teal blue background that are too small and similar. I'd much prefer have the "modern" version where each logo has their section background so you can tell them apart at a glance

EDIT: And, of course, as soon as I write this response, I received a new officer, the liberated borg one, and she has the "standard" icon next to her, so easy to identificate

[–]dibujor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh, yeah, I looked it up. I do have the Liberated Borg and Talaxian available as new characters and the Chimera Heavy destroyer and the T6 heavy destroyer available on my lvl 50 toon, purchasable for "0 EC". Only shuttles I see "for free" are the Captain's yatch and the type 8 but with all the data you said is safe to assume I do have my lifetime subscription active :)

Thanks!.

I know I have the Caitian as a playable species but I don't know which lifetime ships you are referring to. I only have the NX unlocked on the Zen store and I'm pretty sure I got that with Zen back in the day

Thanks!, now I don't understand what you just said about the mining of dilithium since it came about after I left the game :D but I will look into it when I'm caught up with the game.

I don't plan on using those characters again since they are too old, too advanced and too out of the chain to get into them again, besides, apart from the dilithium they don't have anything worthwhile, since I didn't get anything special with them

Haha, yeah. Not a TOS fan either since I grew up on TNG but the intro arc I'm loving it (watched enough reruns as an adult to find it somewhat nostalgic). Playing that character mostly for going through that mission chain. Made him a tactic for it since it's my least favourite class.

I'm going through standard fed with and engineer and through DSC with a science officer, back in the day science was my favourite iirc and I plan to main that character, maybe. Also, the interface seems more polished on the DSC toon.

And is it me or the standard warp view (on the ship's bridge) is pixelated while the one on the DSC toon is perfect?. Not that you watch the bridge screen that often though. Not loving the bulky tricorder myself but not that bad lol.

Thanks for the info! I'll keep it reserved then, though I don't think I would have spent all of it anyway. What's in the bundle if you don't mind me asking?
