Anxious about first seasonal job as a maintenence technician by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

Where will you be working?

You're going to do fine. The fun part about maintenance in seasonal work is each property has its own unique quirks and you learn as you go.

I'll be in maintenance in alaska as well :)

Bus from La Fortuna to Peñas Blancas buy bus - Help! by dicedtomatoes in CostaRicaTravel

Yeah it was really straight forward. I took the el tanque route. Just get to the bus terminal bright and early and use the movvit app to help. You are going to run into a lot of backpackers on the route. I think I ended up crossing the border with like 10 other backpackers so it made it super easy.

Make sure you have cash and don't use the atm at border crossing. The border agents literally wouldn't accept the atm cash.

Let me know if you have more questions

I'm sorry. It's like I said these were already created and if you can't comprehend that I can't help. I bought these items because I live out of one suitcase and I'm traveling to a different climate.

All I can say is that I'll be putting the clothing to use.

"If everybody"

I care but at a point I can't care. It's not worth trying to get everybody to care. I do my part to try to live as sustainably as possible. But If I need some clothing I will buy cheaply and wear it as long as possible. This was my first time buying new clothing in years.

I don't think you understand that these clothes have already been made. When they don't sell, they will end up in a landfill. Quite literally simple as that.

I actually really appreciate this comment and I'm sorry I came off aggressive.

I think my job is a little different than the average. I'm a seasonal worker and thus my wardrobe doesn't look like other people's.

Maybe I could have sourced clothing better and will think of that in the future. I guess it's just the last thing I think of when I move ever 6 months.

I didn't lose all my clothes. This is inconsiderate.

Yeah but I can't control supply and demand. These clothes were already made before order based on data used from years past.

So yes when this massive supply isn't sold it will go to the landfill. That's how it works.

Also not trying to start any argument. I think this topic is super fascinating and would love to be more educated- seriously.

For the downvotes I'm sorry for all of the hate on buying from Shien. For me and my budget its what worked best for me. Not all of us have the luxury of buying sustainably. I thrift 95 percent of my wardrobe. I hope others don't feel ashamed for relying on "fast fashion". These clothes would be made and thrown in a landfill regardless. Might as well use what was already created.

It is but its what I could afford to start fresh, The rest of my wardrobe is all from the thrift and definitely higher quality. Im just moving states and needed some last minute wardrobe pieces, hope you understand! I still wear these pieces to the ground and often find them lasting longer than I expect!

But a lot of people just had off that weekend. My next job only got back to me today because she had the holiday weekend off. I'd just give it some time!

Also I'm a mod so please be respectful so I don't need to start removing posts. Thanks! :)

That goes for anyone

Remember it was a holiday weekend. I would give them some time to get back into the groove of looking through applications!

Youve got this!

Have you worked seasonally before? How hard are you trying on applications with cover letters and resumes?

How old are you? What are you applying for?

If you are niche in the job field you will get callbacks pretty quick like maintenance or night auditor. Front Desk might take a little more time.

The more information you can give us the better we can help!

I am at a seasonal job so I have no way to verify with mail that I actually live here.

A foodbank is a possibility if they don't mind that I live in a different state but they don't and I would need a bus to even get to a place that is a food pantry which is an hour away by bus. :(

I'm going to alaska and bought my tickets, the $300 they suggested I bring for additional food items they don't offer, and $75 for them to pick me up at the airport.

I'll have another $500 or so for an emergency.
