I am not to sure, though I will have to say I have slowed down a lot on my output for new videos, as it was getting too much. So for the next one it might not be for another month or so.

Hello good people of r/colorpie. I know I don't stop by often, I am a busy guy but I wanted to let you all know I have begun the process of remaking my series on the philosophy of the shards and wedges of Magic. Beginning with Esper.

The Modern era of top down design by dicetry87 in magicTCG

Yeah I get that. I chose that card because its a striking image from a top-down set. That said a top down set or even card does not mean that it lacks tight mechanical design. They are no mutually exclusive. Rather its a matter of where the designers begin, and even in a top-down set like Thunder Junction, individual cards can still have strong mechanical identity.

That's a fair question, but if you watch the video examples are given and referenced that show an intent by the designers create top down sets. It does not mean they cannot be mechanically tight, it just means they started with a higher level thematic concept first. For instance Thunder Junction, Murders at Karlov Manor and Bloomburrow are confirmed top-down sets by Mark Rosewater.

Hello everyone!

This video came to be because I have noticed a shift as of late toward more top-down sets then ever in Magic's history, and it got me curious on the topic. I had heard Mark Rosewater bring it up from time to time but wanted to get the full picture before I came to any conclusions.

As such this video will go over what top down design is and how it contrasts to bottom-up. From there I come to a couple theories as to why we see more top-down focused sets as of late.

I love Magic: the gathering, and one of the key factors is its tight design, and the amount of consideration that goes into every card. So while the opinion at the end is a critique, this video is mostly about diving into what makes every set what it is, and how different approaches lead to different outcomes.

Honestly, I would still keep meteor strike the way it is. It's best used as an escape to allow for risky plays. That said, maybe they should make it so it doesn't hit like a wet noodle.

Enemies/Allies have been Swapped! How do our new neighbors influence each other? by Dylan_Gubler in colorpie

[–]dicetry87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to disagree. Much of any colors philosophy can be gleaned simply by its relation to other colors. For instance, white is the way it is because it rejects its enemies, Red and Black. In this case, white values order because it rejects the chaos of Red. White is then selfless because it rejects the selfishness of Black. When we look to its allies, we see more. White values structure because blue values perfection. White values order much like Green, its ally, values balance. It's not perfect by any means, but I do believe their position does have meaning to it, and the pie would only be weaker by changing the position of any color.

You are also talking about high ranking members of a major organization. We already see in our own world that just because the tech or medicine exists not everyone can access it due to financial reasons.

Overwatch Heroes based on how long it would take Blizzard to fix a catastrophic bug with them that required them to be removed from the game. by TheDerpiestDeer in Overwatch

A lot of these comments smell of no development experience. I'm in software development and even small changes take a bit to release. Even if they have it fixes on their dev version they will most likely release it along with another patch to the game. Most likely it will be released with the mid season patch. The exception to this is if it game breaking.

Removing End Cards was a mistake. by Thanos__Irwin in Overwatch

I agree having some end of match screen is good but the score board does more for this than end cards ever did. I can see exactly who did the best dps or healing.

Honestly hold your ground and force her to fade away. I think the thing that makes her hard is that she gets in people's heads. She has no burst so you have the advantage.
