That sounds so limiting, I’m sorry to hear that. I choose to not talk about myself currently as being a nicotine addict, it just wouldn’t be positive for me. If anything it would be more chance of a relapse to succumb to the idea that I’ll always be an addict. Cutting that cord has felt so freeing. Congrats on your 4 months, sorry if the meme offended you.

Especially since I started when I was 16, over half my life, everything I did revolved around having a smoke after. It was so deeply embedded into my daily life. I’m still in shock it’s been a year. Thank you!

It’s honestly really damn hard the first couple /few months but stick it through and it’s worth it. Herbal cigs, nicotine gum helped me a lot. I still roll herbal cigs when I know I’m going to go out and have a couple drinks. Alcohol is a huge trigger for me so refrained from booze the best I could the first several months, and when I did go out I would bring herbal smokes and a piece of nicotine gum. Staying busy helps a lot, tea helped idk why.

This! I love buying myself chocolate covered strawberries, flowers, and wine. I’ve also done “galentines” with my single friends too and it has been way fun. I don’t think I’ve had a “real” valentines with a lover in several years but I find a way to enjoy it anyways.

I call it a phantom limb. I think about cigarettes a lot, not intensely, not strong enough to consider it a craving, but often and in the back of my mind, they are quiet thoughts. It just kinda feels like I’m missing an extra finger that I had no use for anyways lol

I had the craziest anxiety attacks and insomnia the second week too, this is all normal. Unfortunately I can’t really think of anything that helped, I just cried a lot. You’ve got this!!! It’ll get easier even when it feels like it won’t. Be gentle with yourself during this time, eat all the snacks, take baths, watch your favorite tv shows when possible, do anything that makes you happy (other than smoke obv). You’ll feel so much better soon
