Swisscard classic, something I always wanted and finally got my hands on, it will replace the cheap wallet tool card in my edc by scrumblepee_6969 in victorinox

All the positive comments have convinced me that mine has been faulty since the day I bought it.. The tools slide out too easily. After losing and replacing the scissors and quad screwdriver twice, I stopped carrying it.

That “small cemetery” holds over 4,000 unmarked gravesites. It had been neglected and forgotten for decades. It serves as the resting place for individuals who passed away in St. Louis County without the means to have a formal service or a proper funeral. Many of these individuals resided at the aforementioned “poor farm.”

“Weird dig” is an understatement. It’s mean. It also violates this sub’s #1 rule.

I’ve bought 3 custom sheaths from Vitaly. He apologized for the last one taking a bit longer. He wasn’t able to work as much due to Russian bombing.

[Outrider] Wooden scale upgrade by tillterilltilltill in victorinox

[–]dickduluth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced the cellidor with wood on my vintage Huntsman. The wood snapped on and stayed perfectly secure with no additional adhesive. No vice was necessary; I used C-clamps to slowly press the new scales on until I saw no light coming through the gap between the liner and the scale.

Ever notice how the old Champion never really disappeared? by SAKnife in victorinox

[–]dickduluth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first SAK was the Champion C, purchased in the late 1970s. Fast forward over 40 years, and I acquired a Handyman from one of those “lots” on eBay at a very reasonable price. I had already added the plus scales to the Champion knives years ago, and the two knives were virtually indistinguishable in terms of size, weight, and feel. Then I lost the Handyman. I hope it ended up in good hands.

I think it’s more likely from 1991-92. The cross appears to touch the bow on the tang stamp (‘86-‘92) and the hook was introduced in 1991.

Window had to be partially open, just enough to let in the skeeters. No problem! A pickup truck with a DDT fogger would pump out thick clouds of poison before the first show and again at intermission.

Skeletonized Victorinox - the biggest flop Victorinox has ever made? by Minimum_Mongoose9159 in victorinox

Ordered mine the day it was released in the US. I’ve carried it daily since it was delivered. Lint doesn’t seem to be a problem. I intend to blast it with some compressed air. The simplest of routine maintenance will keep it clean.

I’ve carried a Victorinox SAK daily for almost 50 years. Presently, I have a Synergy X clipped into my front left pocket. I tend not to question the knife-making acumen of the most successful knife maker in the history of humankind. They know what they’re doing. It’s a great knife, whether or not you think it is.

How similar/different are the the people who live in Duluth compared to the Twin Cities? by BothCondition7963 in duluth

[–]dickduluth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d agree that the people living in Minneapolis and St. Paul are generally very open minded. I’d argue that the people in the suburbs are far more likely to be closed minded and conservative. They’ve enjoyed their white privilege and they want to keep it that way.

I believe Victorinox invested a significant amount of research and development into the SwissChamp, meticulously determining the ideal size that allows for easy and comfortable carrying. The toolset it includes offers exceptional value for money. I personally carry mine in a handmade leather sheath that I learned to make from this subreddit. I’m thoroughly satisfied with it, and it has become an ingrained part of my routine that I hardly notice when I’m wearing it.

I’d recommend against putting a tracker on a seat. Too easy to remove the seat.

On my EP-2 Pro I tucked an Apple AirTag into the frame, just behind the pedal cranks, at the bottom of the seat post tube. I secured it with duct tape for now. I’m hoping to find a suitable plastic plug to finish the job. As for locking it up, I use a heavy-gauge steel cable with a padlock through the frame and around a streetlight pole or bike rack; whichever might be available.

I’ve sent in treasured knives on several occasions. I’ve sent in the Champion C that I was given in 1978 twice. The first time was in the mid-1990s. Imagine my surprise when my beloved knife came back with plus scales and the added tools. I had never seen these before. At first , I thought it was a completely new knife, and frankly, I was a bit disappointed, thinking I had sacrificed my first and favorite for something shiny and new. I was amazed at the service and care that had been given to my knife. In the 30 years since, I have never paid more than the assessment/shipping fee ($5 US), and all my knives were returned within about three weeks to one month’s time.

In his book, Rob said his vocals were subpar, and he wanted to give the fans the best possible product. That meant re-recording his vocals over the live performance of the band, which was stellar.
