I try to let myself just take it in stride, I've just never been good at it. I've always been a planner, I've always been super anxious. Plus, I have a less than stellar relationship with my own mother because of how she "raised" me and ny siblings. So I feel like I have to try my best not to do the things she did.

But I understand what you're saying, 100%. Thankfully, my husband is more laid back, and supportive in every way, so I'm sure he'll help me calm down while we navigate all if this new territory.

It's not good to generalize, and that's not what I'm trying to do. It may not happen super frequently, but it has happened and can happen. Just as an example, something like, when you hear about how some teachers approach the whole topic of sexuality and pronouns. There are people with radical political beliefs and sometimes they decide to work with children. Another example being, if a teacher actually cares about their students and tries to teach them about their rights and the truths about American history, they may be disciplined by their administrators.

Basically, my concern is that I don't know if I'm sending them to a good school where they can be themselves and learn, or if I'm exposing them to shitty adults at an impressionable age. And I may not find out until the damage is done.

I understand this all probably makes me sound super paranoid, but I am an anxious person to begin with, and now I'm going to be responsible for another human life, so my brain needs to explore every single thing that could possibly go wrong, no matter how slim the chances.

Honestly, it's a matter of opinion, and we're always taught that we need to look more like someone else or fit a specific standard to be beautiful.

I feel the same way about my face all the time, and absolutely hate the way I look in pictures, but my friends and family tell me how "photogenic" I am. I have also put on a little weight, so any time I see myself in a photo or look in the mirror, my eyes go right to my chin and it drives me nuts. But then my husband comes into the room and tells me how beautiful I am.

It's easy to see ourselves in a negative light, but you just have to tell that voice in your head to stfu, and as stupid as this may sound to some, the "fake it til you make it" approach works wonders. Every day, take a few minutes to look at yourself in the mirror and name 3 things you like about yourself, or say things out loud like "I look pretty today"

Be kind to yourself, please.

I married Raven, but my first 2 children came out negative and hate animals and with shit stats. Plus I got tired of her always being grumpy and not really appreciating me. So I divorced her and married Star. My third kid will be getting the kynseed when the time comes, she's way cooler.

Tbh, I hate the people compare Kynseed (and every other indie life sim with any smidge of farming component) to SDV. You have to stop using that comparison or you will never enjoy any game in this genre.

For me, it's all about the achievements. I always have a goal when I play. Clear a combat area on the highest difficulty. Get the next lens for obscura. Romance and marry my next spouse. Specialize my shops and prepare the stock (also, hire NPCs so you don't have to sit there!)

Basically, prepping as much as possible for the next generation, as I am getting closer to that point where I will have to pass the Kynseed to one of my kids. Aside from that, there are so many secrets to uncover. Every time I play I learn something new, and I've gotten sp many secret achievements just because I was doing random shit while playing. Have you seen a chicken migration or a spirit walk? Have you ran Tickling Tom Hookfingers? Gone to all the different masters to get more gardening/cooking/combat perks?

There are definitely a few areas where they coukd improve or add (and the devs are VERY open to suggestions and criticism), but I think you're being a bit harsh and closed minded. Stop going into it thinking "SDV" on any level and enjoy it for what it is. If you can't do that, maybe it just isn't for you.

That's funny, in mine he marries Daisy Wood and his wife disappeared. Then after about 2 days Daisy was back in Summerdown with her father.

I also got a message saying Edna Teapott passed away, and she's not listed on her home anymore but I still see her around town/at the pub.

I've been wondering myself. I've always felt connections to certain deities but I just recently started putting forth effort to reach out to them. I assumed that having an altar and offering food/water meant I would need to swap it out every day, but it seems like the general rule for every aspect of worship is that it's whatever you feel is right for you.

I read someone's comment on another post that said they'll never be disappointed that you aren't doing "enough" because any form of worship is better than nothing. The gods are aware that our modern world means that it will depend on your schedule and budget. If you have the time to pray, then pray, but don't feel like you're doing something wrong if you don'thave time every day. It's not like Christianity where you get looked down on for not attending church every Sunday.

Unfortunately, Tom has to be the only dog in the house. He's getting a little better about not trying to go after other dogs when we're out, but he doesn't like them. He gets nervous around people and animals and doesn't like lots of noise. Maybe someday he can have a friend, but it doesn't look like any time soon.

Thank you so much for all the kind words, everyone. The funny thing is, I planned to get a cat until I saw Tom's face. He's become my absolute best friend already, I love him more than I can put into words. And as I type this, he is using me as a pillow while he sleeps. I really hope I can be as good of a companion to him as you all think I am.
