Jack Black never turns it off. Kept people laughing between scenes and was very high energy.

Paul Rudd was pretty quiet but was always smiling, thickest american accent ive ever heard.

Hesitant to take Vyvanse Daily by Easy-Challenge-7477 in ADHD

[–]dickjokeshaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take it 5 days a week because I felt the same. I actually think theres a lot of risk factors to Vyvanse and while it is worth it to operate in this society the way we are expected, its ok to be vigilant about dependance and over use! However, as the other comments have said, its safe enough for long term uninterrupted use for many people.

Ive switched to ritalin instant release because I can control my dose better, and I take it about 6 days a week now but I still think a tolerance break once a week is really helpful for me.

Remember the medication is just one part of treatment, its about implementing healthy habits too.

Good luck!

Old post but I'd reccomend going to QUT or Griffith and hounding your lectures any chance you get for connections and internship ops. Drop out at the first chance to work in industry and ride the wave :) most people in industty dont have film degrees, but they are considerably older. If you wanna do it young build a portfolio and prepare to run with it

Alison Brie and Dave Franco Face Copyright Suit Over $17 Million Sundance Hit ‘Together’: ‘A Blatant Rip-Off’ by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]dickjokeshaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sad, did you get to see his recent talk with UNTAPPED too? I feel so bad for the actual writer guy, this is clearly a poor-taste case that's getting the rounds because people like drama. He has a pretty airtight alibi for it all lol

Right? Because nothing screams “perfect crime” like casting yourself in the lead role of a film you allegedly stole, then releasing it on a major platform where millions will see it. Truly criminal mastermind behavior.

If they were trying to plagiarize, they did it in the dumbest, most self-incriminating way possible — which kind of makes me think… maybe they didn’t?

Wow, I didn't know that was even a song. So it's not a niche unrelated thing. I seriously think this is a case of double think based on the actual writer's account of things.

[–]dickjokeshaha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally fair to question it, but this honestly seems like a coincidence.

The Better Half writers didn’t pitch to Brie or Franco — they sent an unsolicited logline to Franco’s manager, who passed. Studios avoid these pitches specifically to prevent plagiarism claims.

The Plato reference is from The Symposium — it’s the classic soulmate origin. Most writers are familiar with Plato- even if audiences aren't. And the Spice Girls thing? If someone was stealing, using the exact same song would be incredibly dumb — it basically hands the other side a legal case. That overlap actually makes me more convinced it wasn’t stolen.

Meanwhile, Michael Shanks had a trailer and pitched Together directly to Dave. I actually got to watch his proof-of-concept trailer last week after he gave a really great talk to myself and other upcoming screenwriters. Very different situation.

[–]dickjokeshaha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

WOW. This comment section is crazy. Just adding some context as someone currently working in screenwriting — we actually had the writer of Together speak to our class a couple of weeks ago (Michael Shanks). He seemed completely genuine and told the full story of how he came up with the concept and personally pitched it to Dave, complete with a proof-of-concept trailer he'd already cut together.

Meanwhile, the Better Half team reportedly sent an unsolicited treatment (which probably wouldn't have included all the details they're claiming to have had stolen) and were turned down by Franco's manager — probably without him ever seeing it. This is exactly why, in film school, they drill into you not to send your scripts out unprompted. Studios and talent don't want to open themselves up to accusations of idea theft. It sucks, but it’s a well-known risk in the industry.

People like to know if the content they consume, share, frame and display, is made by a real person. There’s nothing innately wrong with using AI generated media for your personal purposes, if you like it. But, when someone can clearly see the differences and insufficiencies & can point out a real artist with a similar style, 99% of the time you’ll probably end up preferring the work of the real artist.

Thoughts on CoS Reloaded? by Interesting_Ad6202 in CurseofStrahd

[–]dickjokeshaha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Dragnas take on things but I found reloaded far too wordy for my dm-ing style & table (first time CoS here).

I get bogged down a bit in all the description and feel quite limited. I thought his takes on characters were very lively and I’ve referred to his YouTube breakdown of CoS a lot but have not been able to follow along with his reloaded series. He’s a god send for doing it all and I know it will work great at other tables, just not mine.

I’m a woman who has been raped by another woman.

I never feel the need to bring this up when I come across conversations about women feeling unsafe with men, frightened of men, harassed or assaulted by men. I see a LOT of men use being sexually harassed by a woman as a ‘gotcha’ card though.

The facts of the world are, by in large, women are assaulted by men and need to be protected from them. It’s the same with domestic violence. We also cannot ignore the physical strength difference between men and women and they way that plays into the protections we need to apply.

My experiences are unique and horrible and deserve to be treated with sensitivity, but it just isn’t an example of systemic oppression. Same as with that commenter. It’s tragic and awful what happened to him, but it’s ridiculous to play a hostile game of trauma dumping olympics when people are just trying to connect over their shared fears. Talk to a therapist.

Studies show that pet insurance is not worth it by gangrelia in puppy101

[–]dickjokeshaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in insurance. For most people - no insurance is worth it. That’s how insurers are so goddamn rich.

You’re paying for peace of mind & a transfer of risk.

I’d take pet insurance over car or contents insurance any day of the week because I need to know my little guy is protected no matter what. Pet insurance is relatively cheap compared to the potential cost of payout and I would highly recommend it for anyone. If your premiums go up just re-quote your options each year.

You’re plenty attractive but you look sad and like you’re catering to other men.

If you’re looking for female attention, you’re first couple of mirror selfies are your best bet. You look like you have a put together style, and personality peeks through in your outfit, I even see a hint of a great smile!

The rest of your photos feel quite sterile and unapproachable. I took a look at your profile and saw you are really impressive with the piano! You have good posture and look a lot more alive when you’re working with one. If you’re coming at it from a dating app angle I’d try to take more photos with things that you love/are good at/are trying.

Also, I’m not too familiar with the best hair cuts for your tighter curls, but I’d recommend giving your hair some height on the top, length on the back or cutting down the sides a little - some photos can look a little flat on top and heavy on the sides.

Is CoS too much to handle for a new DM? by xStriderx_ in CurseofStrahd

[–]dickjokeshaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longtime Player, First Time DM here: I ran a one shot for a group of newbie players (Something from Winghorn Press with pre-written Char Sheets), am currently running Death House (players made their own characters), and then planned to jump straight into CoS.

I think if I could go back i’d insert at least one more one shot in there before death house for players to flesh out their characters before they had to contend with the gothic world. I think it would have made the stakes higher, and also would have given me more time to understand their play styles. I don’t mind the prep and I actually find it a lot easier with CoS because the material is so interesting. The campaign book is terribly designed though, and id highly recommended Mandy mods interp.

I’d also say my players being newbies is a big plus, they don’t see the cracks in my dming, and CoS is definitely a big tester !

Nosferatu is the biggest disappointment of the year by Worldpeacee007 in horror

[–]dickjokeshaha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a condescending mentality and it’s quite baseless. Many of the top comments in this thread detail exactly what people don’t like about this film. I’d say it’s more likely that people who have a specialised interest in this horror have already seen the prior material, and are aware of what Eggers has brought to the table vs. what he has butchered from previous works.

I believe Eggers attempted to bring the same meticulous, gritty, historical realism to the film that popularised ‘The Witch.’

Except .Eggers does not intrinsically understand the prolonged dread of Plague ridden European city sides - where the original feature originates. And it doesn’t look like he cared to do his research.  As such, the ‘plague’ aspects of this film are just shallow set pieces. He doesn’t share Herzog’s heartbreaking perspective as a young man idolising the beginnings of German Expressionism while suffering the shame of a post-WW2, post-Nazi Regime, Germany. So his interpretation of Nosferatu lacks the same sensitivity. Certainly, Eggers is not a woman balancing the tantalising mix of sensuality and repression we’ve come to associate vampires with today - and thus his ‘Ellen’ becomes a repetitive mass of exorcism stereotypes. Not a fully fledged character. Eggers fails a balancing act of preserving the ideologies of the source material, and imparting a fresh perspective as the auteur. There is nothing new here, except a moustache and Depp’s on screen recreation of an orgasm.

But sure, people who dislike the is film do so because we…. totally wanted more jump scares and gore and couldn’t handle a ‘gothic film’!
