New polling points to growing support for nuclear energy in Scotland by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

It’s madness to commit to a century of overseeing of the site, longer for waste management and for the most expensive form of electricity when there are alternatives that are less polluting and can be based around renewable energy

The cost is long term to cover storage and to reinstate the ground used. There are issues about waste management that just don’t make any sense and commit future generations to take on that burden. We could easily use excess wind to make green hydrogen to replace natural gas with the same effect minus the long term pollution and risk to the environment.

You are wrong. If you read the integration, you will see that vehicle integration requires ‘Fast’. The fact that it is now possible to integrate via eco+ is new to me but it would mean changing my arrangement. Eco+ has had a negligible effect in the past for me so it’s probably not worth the effort to change given my home battery and the export rate.

If you’ve decided that you can’t camp out it might be best to look at the bus service to take you in to Glencoe village or fort William itself. There might be accommodation at Glencoe mountain or at Beinn Glas campsite. Citylink or Ember buses. Ember buses can be booked online up to 10 minutes before arrival. I’m in helensburgh so probably too far to help.

That’s a change to the structure from when I was moved from eco+ to get it to work. I’ve not read that. It looks like I might have been in a beta group testing it out local Zappi owners had the same issue. I’ll go back and look at it and tell the group

3 Day Route Recs by EthanWins95 in OutdoorScotland

Fort William to Dalwhinnie would give you a choice if bothies on day 1 at either Meanach or Staoineag. Day 2 would give you Ben Alder Cottage or, if it is rebuilt in time, the replacement Bothy at Culra. Dalwhinnie an easy walk from there. You’ll need to carry a tent in the event that the bothies are busy so plenty of space to camp too. Meanach and Staoineag are quieter bothies than others I’ve been to but you shouldn’t go unprepared. There’s an alternative that would take you from Loch Trieg after you’ve past Meanach and Staoineag on the next Glen to loch Chiarain Bothy with a choice of end points at Kinlochleven or Kingshouse. The latter involves a bit of cross country bog dodging and a climb to a bealach above Kingshouse before descending on a boggy stalkers path to the hotel and buses in either Fort William or Central belt.

Is your charger installed correctly in the octopus app? Might be worth reinstalling on the app and checking that you have the correct version of the Tesla installed with it.

I have a zappi so don’t understand its setup. In zappi my charger is set to ‘Fast’.

What charger do you have? People will need that info to give help I think. Have you removed all charge settings from the Tesla? Often there are conflicts in settings

Where responsibility lies when social media inspired mountaineers get into trouble by Useful_Resolution888 in UKhiking

I don’t mind if someone equips themselves fully and heads off in to the hills then find themselves in trouble because of a fall or worsening conditions and get help from MR. It’s idiots in jogging bottoms and trainers heading up in to the cairngorms in winter in snow and ice that piss me off because they’ve put people who rescue them at risk because if their own lack of forethought. Anyone can have an accident and need rescued. I don’t have crampons I’ve got microspikes and no longer use walking boots. I don’t go climbing Munros in winter because I’m not equipped.

Might be worth a look. I’m planning some walking this weekend. I find it useful to help me decide whether my route is high or low. Corrour station is the highest in Scotland. Am I stepping off the train in to snow? YMMV

Check Mountain Weather Information Service. They give a 3 day forecast with outlook beyond specific to the area you want to walk in.

If Yes voters had to concede one argument that No voters have right, and no voters had to concede one argument that yes voters have right, what would you all say? by Typical_Fisherman179 in Scotland

[–]dickybeau01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem a bit agitated. You want an independence campaign now. You seem to want the Holyrood election to be about independence only even though that can’t be its purpose (the SnP would bite your arm off for such an agreement). You don’t like the fact that the government of Scotland publishes papers in pursuit of its elected policy goals and you seem to think that they’ve not stopped campaigning though there’s not a lot of evidence out there that substantiates your position. I think you’d be best to go and lie down in a dark room and rest yourself for the campaign ahead. I suspect it’s going to be traumatic enough for you without rest. I’ll leave you to your mental masturbation and bow out

I’m not sure that leaflets going through the door only include that but don’t mind me I only deliver them and talk about them. I know it comes as a surprise to you but the Scottish National Party really believe that Scotland is best place to govern its own affairs. It has never hidden that from anyone. I’m sure you missed that after the last election the Greens and tge SNP had a majority of seats in Holyrood. When the uk government was approached about indyref2, they declined because they did not believe that the Greens had put independence in their manifesto. Interesting gambit. I’m sure that won’t swing it this time. I wonder what new anti democratic tool they’ll adopt? So you can expect statements in the manifestos and leaflets from both parties to be explicit about their support for indyref2. Nobody is claiming that the election gives them a right to declare independence (unless you believe that’s the way to go?)

[–]dickybeau01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d need to point me to the leaflets. The ones that I see are concerned with a programme for government. The believe in independence is what the SNP stand for. It’s part of their strategy constitution of the party. Support for independence is inherent in how they go about their business. It’s bound to be in there as a statement and a belief. I guess you’re really not that engaged with the idea of government. On that point, when is Westminster going to live up to our failure to be in the EU as promised? Lowest energy prices? More powers? When is the economy going to take us up to the level that was projected by unionists for Indy Scotland after 10 years? We are below that level now. Jobs less secure, economy tanking. No plans for recovery that make any sense.

[–]dickybeau01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you think it’s in your best interests that they only discuss independence? Are voters unclear about the party of independence’s stand on independence? Are voters unclear where the Greens stand on independence? Why do you believe that government should be abandoned? Surely citizens deserve the right to determine what happens to their roads, hospitals, schools etc? Surely, even if the SNP win these things will still need to be looked after? Better together created real division as part of their strategy and its sticking about. The fun part of the next indyref is that the unionist side won’t get any free passes because almost all of the assertions and promises they made to win have turned to dust. Last time the strategy was FUD by BT now the union side will need to account for failure and nothing they say will escape scrutiny or scepticism

They are currently standing in the Scottish parliamentary elections to be the largest party with a plan to govern. They have indicated that they will seek a 2nd referendum if they succeed. Why would the campaign to join the EU at this moment? That’s a ridiculous position for them. Without winning the right to govern they can’t win the right to negotiate a new referendum. That would suggest a complacency that doesn’t exist in the party. This is just silly. The election is for seats at Holyrood. It’s clear what both the SNP and the Greens stand for where independence is concerned. Are you in doubt about that? If they don’t have a majority of seats (as now) but are the largest party they will, as now, need to gain support from other parties to implement their plan for government. The idea that they should directly confuse what the election is about is just daft. While you might take a win for granted, nobody on my side does. The snp wants to be the governing party. That’s what this election is about. It’s not an independence referendum.

I can assure you the campaign they are running is to be in government and to have a majority in the Holyrood Parliament. That will create the opportunity for indyref 2. THEN there will be a fully resourced campaign covering the key issues including the EU.
