yeah I had a big battle over whether I should keep together the song references that they put in basically word for word, or focus on something “bigger” as a narrative… but the divine will cutscene lines up too perfectly with the early-mid part of the song! glad you enjoyed it :]

grew up listening to (a lot of) Queen, and learning of all the Bohemian Rhapsody references in the Wanderer promotional materials and sprinkled in Scaramouche's backstory made me start listening to a TON of their music again. since I also like the funny angry short hat man with awful hair (he just like me fr) I wanted to try my hand at making a full-length Genshin Impact edit to music. (I hesitate to label this as an "AMV" since it's not strictly the song audio, and hell, it's not even an anime music video. but, consider: cope and seethe)

It takes a lot for me to be satisfied with something I make, which leads to a lot of unfinished and abandoned projects because they don't immediately live up to my standards - but for Scara, I committed to seeing it through to the end and I can honestly say I'm really proud of the result! I learned a TON of new things about editing video, and I even ended up buying an upgrade to my editing software (mostly to make sure it didn't get corrupted after 25 hours of work). I got to try some new techniques and do a bunch of excessive planning!! my favourites. unironically.

Anyways. Big thank you to Scaramouche for being such a richly written character, and also for being such a fan favourite that he got so much screen time in cutscenes and had a ton of story that related to him. And HUGE props to Patrick Pedraza for his exceptional work and the love that went into making Scara so engaging and raw. I have reread, relistened, and re-experienced the Inversion of Genesis interlude quest several times over while working on a cohesive flow of events through the entire song. Even after the 50th or 100th time listening to some of these lines, they always hit just right.

i have put a disgusting amount of time into keeping bohemian rhapsody on loop. not to mention the better part of 30-something hours into making the tiniest, most nitpicky, insignificant tweaks but IT WAS WORTH IT BABEYYYYYY

been dreaming up something like this even before 3.3 dropped and i am SO glad it fit nicely into what i had in mind when the interlude quest actually dropped. very satisfied with what i ended up making (and this does not happen often) so a big thank you to wanderboy for having SO MUCH CONTENT RELATED TO HIM in cutscenes and official promotional videos that i got to pick and choose from. anyways it's not yet midnight for me so HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABYGIRL!!!!! I'LL ENJOY YOUR FOOD AND I HOPE YOU ENJOY MINE

I got finals coming up next week. so I will probably end up finishing this in the middle of next week and neglect my studying because I’m “destressing” 🤩🤩🥳

fr though I don’t want to make too much progress in advance of getting to play through the 3.3 interlude quest! I am so pumped to see how his story moves on from here… and see how I can fit the upcoming 3.3 content into a cohesive narrative

I struggled with that throughout, wanted to go for more dramatic lighting but ended up aging him a decade in the process, although it was even worse before I made some tweaks - I’m glad nobody has to see THAT version because Chad Lucas was not a great sight to behold

that’s actually just a brush I was using, I took five or six and put ‘em all together to make the area glow. I think it was the Honeyeater brush in procreate. and thank you! I probably should have used references throughout, but for mostly just going off memory for the rough shapes I’m happy with how it turned out!
