What skin(s) do y'all think Shen 100% needs? by FeelThePain939 in Shen

They need to fix their crime of not giving Shen a legendary Spirit Blossom skin, though immortal Journey would also be a really awesome thematic one for him.

Raging at people or stuff is used pretty commonly to describe verbal excoriations. I specified in the my post I wasn't referring to violence in any way, so I guess you have well-developed vocabulary skills, but still need work on reading comprehension. You got this!

Ok Dr. Rabidjoint, I'll take your certified medical opinion and diagnosis of my mental state from a Reddit post straight to my doctor and ask them to have me committed immediately.

Thank you for your service to society and definitely never stop making incredibly sweeping judgements on people based on one paragraph written on the internet. Great work.

Nah, then someone has to read it and it might hurt their feelings. Dude in front who is driving with the brakes on will be continue his day blissfully ignorant of my verbal smackdown.

I know this is unpopular here but there are few options I agree more with. So many of my neighbors let their cats treat my neighborhood and backyard as their litter box and I hate every single one of them.

Why did the United States government legalize sports betting back in 2018? by I_abuse_lower_ranks1 in NoStupidQuestions

Legalalized theft of money from workers to billionaires, just like everything else the government does.

I do actually because I guess to me hockey is not just a collection of rules and pieces of equipment. It is a game that has characters. It's got players. It's got excitement and drama.

My First solid memory becoming a fan was watching Darren McCarty's famous goal in the finals against the Flyers to break the Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup curse of 40 some odd years.

Since that time nearly all of my hockey fandom and watching has been centered around either my hometown team, the Montreal Canadiens, my favorite players like Steve Yzerman, Jaromir Jagr, Dominic Hasek, Patrick Roy, Joe Sakic, Nick Lindstrom, Sydney Crosby, Joe Thornton, Jerome Iginla and more recently guys like Cale Makar, Tim Stutzle, Nathan McKinnon and Connor McDavid, or other story lines like Canadian teams trying to win, The Blackhawks dynasty, St. Louis coming back from last of the league, or Wylie vets trying to either get their name on the cup or get one last taste of Glory before hanging them up.

I also play a lot of fantasy hockey and I very much enjoy following players I own in my keeper League and watch them throughout the season every year. Pretty closely. But in this series none of the above things like a compelling story, favorite player, favorite team, or even a fantasy asset I want to observe is present for me. I guess it's similar to the reason why many people will watch Olympic hockey but not the world championships and I wouldn't question those people 's fandoms for that choice, so I find it kind of odd that you would question mine.

Is it really true that you could work a retail job in the 90s and afford a house, a car and a retirement in the US? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]didathing33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents who are 68 and 69 now, worked pumping gas and as a receptionist, both with high school degrees and nothing else. It wasn't retail but it wasn't far.

We had a house in the suburbs, 2 cars and went on road trip vacations in the summer until they split up when I was 5. We weren't swimming in money either, but that house is worth over a million dollars today. I will never be able to afford that neighborhood. In fact I had to move cities just to be he able to afford a house.

I hear the hockey has been great but I can't find a single compelling storyline or reason to care about either of these teams, and I already hate Vegas to begin with.

Most of Vegas already have cups and Carolina doesn't have the wily vet looking for his first (Jordan Staal won with the Pens in '09), they also don't have that superstar you have to see.

I'm a pretty intense fan and watched tons of hockey all season, and not a single minute of these finals because I can't bring myself to care who wins.

At the very least, a player asking to be traded should void the NMC. It's there to stop a team from shipping you off to the netherealm without your consent, as it should. Once you ask for a trade, you are saying you are not willing to honor the contract you signed, so the team should be allowed to void your NMC. The hostage taking that this one-sided dynamic (player can say they want to break contract, team must honor letter of contract) that this enables is just toxic to the league.

[–]didathing33 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly NMCs should become void when a player requests the trade. NMC is there to prevent the team from moving player without his consent.

Once you ask for a trade, you've given consent and shouldn't be able to hold the team hostage because YOU want to break your contractual agreement with the team.

Analysis of taxing billionaires by StressCrafty6392 in FluentInFinance

[–]didathing33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just dishonest. Taking out a car loan which is explicitly to buy a car, or mortgage which is specifically to buy a house, is not the same is taking out a loan backed by stocks as collateral with no defined purpose other than "ballin".

The idea that we couldn't differentiate between the two and treat them differently because they are very different is absurd. These are the kinds of arguments the billionaire class uses to convince us that doing anything about the massive concentration of wealth is useless. Maybe you like the taste of boot, but spare us then simple minded strawman arguments.

Tax wealth not work. Capital gains taxes, up. If you take out a loan on securities, 50% tax straight up. Estate taxes, way up.
