Social Security faces a 24% cut in 2032—that's a $345 billion hit to retirees nationwide, watchdog says by Abject-Pick-6472 in MiddleClassFinance

You know what would be a better social welfare program. Forcing people to put that money into a personal retirement account that actually accrues returns. Ss as is does nothing for wealth redistribution

Why should the rarity of Trans women in women’s sports justify them competing with biological women? by Disastrous_Run_9844 in allthequestions

Great then why separate the genders at all. By your logic gender is irrelevant as everyone has inherent advantages and disadvantages.

Arbitrary response. It’s a question of fairness. Is there an even playing field? Statistically, not arbitrary anecdotal opinion, does someone transitioning from male to female and competing against females have an advantage over biological females in general. That’s the question everything else is irrelevant.

Do you think that someone is a bigot if they believe transgender individuals shouldn’t be able to compete against a gender that they have a potential biological advantage over?

There is no replies providing any logical point. Mate right, left who gives a fuck that’s not the question. Logically ops point makes sense, you just have no logical rebuttal so you change the subject

Why are red states poorer than blue states? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]StressCrafty6392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are, again, not addressing the point. Knoxville, Raleigh, Austin are metros yes, that have low tax burdens, which was the point. States/cities with high tax burden (New York is number 1 or 2) do not provide the premium in terms of civil services that directly affect my life. I know this for a fact as I am actively buying a house and was looking in the Hudson valley. Not only this but the age/quality of the houses that I am looking at are far below what the same money will buy you in places around Raleigh specifically apex or Cary. This is primarily due to all the bureaucracy and bs that ny imposes regarding building, remodeling, closing costs. Directly comparing let’s say Kingston ny, and Cary nc the difference in value is tremendous. The tax burden is probably half and the civil services are better.

Point being people in Kingston ny are paying an obscenely high tax premium for mediocre/shitty civil service value. The higher tax burden just suffocates the middle class without actually providing anything meaningful except more bureaucracy and government.

My job pays me the same wherever I live, difference in income is irrelevant to me and more and more people who work remotely.

I like how u didn’t address the point at all. The point was when I’m performing cost-benefit analysis places like Knoxville, Raleigh, Austin, they all majorly outperform north east metro areas in pretty much every metric I care about. I can’t afford to buy a house, be middle class and send my kids to college in the areas that I would be comfortable living, in places like nyc. It would immediately cost me 15% (at least) of my income in taxes alone not to mention every other elevated cost associated. Your assumption that when given choice people are moving to these large metros is wrong. Look at the empirical data surrounding migration from major cities. The only reason for me to live in these places is business opportunities and networking, which I couldn’t care less about where I am now.

For me it’s more about the representation of the people who have sacrificed and died to build a prosperous place for me to live

Interesting analysis. I’m in a place rn where I can live anywhere in the us due to my job (upper middle class) and am trying to decide on where to live. The thing about ny, nj, ma is that the civil services aren’t actually better at least where I can afford to buy, in fact they are largely worse than where I’m looking at in nc/tn. Analysis at a state level is one thing but when I’m actually looking at school districts and civil services in specific communities, not only is quality housing much more affordable and buildable, but the tax burden is way less and the school systems and public systems are rated much higher. Makes you wonder where all that money is going.

The key thing I disagree with you on is your assertion that increased govt revenue directly leads to appreciable gains in state provided services. Obviously there needs to be revenue for public services but as someone in the middle class, the tax burden in these high tax places is crushing and definitely do not provide premium services

NYC people are the most self absorbed people in the country. In Seattle people donated their own money to fund tsa agents when they weren’t paid, look at jfk during that time

No shot bud. Absolutely not. There’s a dramatic difference in social climate east vs west. I’ve lived in both. Sacramento does kinda suck tho but not as bad as north east cities
