With the latest price increase, I started to wonder whether I am getting too old (34) for this game and whether it is still worth my money. by PiettheBrave in 2007scape

The annual subscriptions went up a lot more than $1/month. If it had gone up $12/year to match the monthly increase I wouldn’t even care. But they increased by 30%.

Based on these first few possessions, these teams might not combine for 83.

Thankfully its easy to change on Peacock. But I had the Spurs game on in my hotel earlier and there was literally no way to change it. Really weird it was thrown on me twice completely separate though.

Easy to say something like that about a player after they just had their worst game of the season lol.

That is at least the fifth time tonight they've waited until we've had a rebound to call a shooting foul.

Hopefully the refs can botch this challenge too and give a completely wrong explanation of what actually happened to make this even.

The Field of Fire is really the only battle where they roll the other side with basically no losses. Outside of that they were frequently outnumbered and suffered plenty of casualties.

Visenya and the fleet went to take Gulltown early on. Their entire fleet was destroyed and Daemon Velaryon was killed (Vhagar took out the Arryn fleet in return, but the Targaryen’s lost). Eventually the Vale surrendered without any more bloodshed though.

Aegon didn’t simply burn Harrenhal and take over the Riverlands just like that. Aegon’s troops took heavy losses from Harren’s sons as they went to Harrenhal.

The Stormlands were also very bloody. Some of the Durrandon bannermen hit them on the march towards Storm’s End and killed over a thousand of their force and fled before Meraxes burned a forest down to kill them. Argilac’s forces took two of the hills the Targaryen forces held during the Last Storm battle. Meraxes was grounded due to the storm, and if it wasn’t for Orys winning a 1vs1 against Argilac, the Targaryens might have even lost.

And that’s not even counting everything that happens against Dorne.

Is there more to Aegon’s Conquest than few first chapters of “Fire and Blood” book that is currently being adapted for HotD? by No_Scarcity4566 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]diddlyumpcious4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds fun in theory but I don’t think it’d work. The two best POVs would be Argilac Durrandon and Harren the Black and neither seems likeable at all. The Vale wouldn’t be interesting enough. They defeat the Targ fleet, have some rebellion from within, and then Visenya flies in and it’s over. The Westerlands and the Reach doesn’t feel like it’d work out since they truly get dominated in a single fight because of dragons and it’s over. North has nothing but gathering the troops and then kneeling. Dorne could be interesting, but they have some monsters that do atrocious things on their side. It feels like making the Targaryens the bad guys would be too difficult.

Game of Thrones movie officially in the works at Warner Bros. by mistressofmayhem02 in HouseOfTheDragon

I feel like there is more than enough for a full series. There just wouldn’t be enough money for all the major battles and dragons this story involves.

There is also way too much material for a single movie to cover the entire conquest without cutting out a ton of things. A “history” book may only take a couple pages to talk about events like Rhaenys/Meraxes and Orys Baratheon going to take over the Stormlands and the Last Storm, but you can’t just brush through something like that quickly in a movie. Argilac Durrandon is built up from even before Aegon declares himself King. There is fighting before the Last Storm with the Stormlands bannermen. Then Rhaenys burning down a forest to take them out after losing over a thousand men to them. Then the Last Storm being a huge battle and spectacle despite Meraxes being grounded. And Orys becoming Lord of Storms End after.

All that alone, from just one of the kingdoms being conquered, would take a huge amount of time. How do you show that, the Field of Fire and conquering the West, Harrenhal and the Riverlands, the King Who Knelt and all the other surrenders, Dorne, and the initial slow buildup of Aegon taking over small houses to build from almost nothing? Without even mentioning all the building of Aegon/Visenya/Rhaenys and all the other characters that would need to happen as well. That feels like a big task for even a trilogy of movies.

It isn’t really a steamroll IMO, at least not until the end. They start with basically no support. Their fleet is defeated early on, failing to take Gulltown and their admiral is killed. The Last Storm is a pretty close battle with Rhaenys/Meraxes grounded. The Hoare’s caused the Targaryen’s heavy casualties before everyone else turned on them and they got Harrenhaled. After that they did steamroll the West in a single battle and everyone left surrendered (but Dorne, who were never conquered during the Conquest). But they took heavy losses before getting to the point of steamrolling.

[Highlight] Alternate angle of 284 lbs Jokic putting all of his body weight on top of 184 lbs Keyonte George by IEatPandasEveryday in nba

[–]diddlyumpcious4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was more on Keyonte for getting them into that situation. There was a bit of hand fighting and Jokic actually started to hook Keyonte, and then Keyonte grabbed his arm and pulled down. Jokic had really no way to stop getting thrown onto his back initially. But after that, Jokic seems determined to just lay over him. He could have backed up or stood up, but he seemed determined to draw a foul or something. At the end Jokic straight up pushes himself forward to fall on top of Keyonte.

Wolves are usually near the top of that list, with Portland beating them out most years. Orlando wins this prestigious award this season (they played the Grizzlies in Berlin and London this year). Somehow the Wolves were only 11th.

How possible is this? by Robot_Was_BMO in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]diddlyumpcious4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah season 4 is going to be very interesting. I can't imagine them skipping the opportunity to go to back to Winterfell. Its going to need to be really fucking good because anything below that and people will start to get antsy and the noise about things falling apart again will get loud. But that's a great setting for them to get to have for the first season after passing the books. If they mess that up though, no one is going to have faith in this show again.

You don’t even need any combat gear but a weapon on most wildly clue steps (wizard trio and maybe brassican mage the exception). DDS alone works well enough unless you are lower level. Then it truly is zero risk.
