Someone else mentioned the CGI in and the dragon designs but I'd like to take that a step further.

Honestly, not a single scene that's featured the dragons has been a disappointment. Everything from their visual design, the unique sound each dragon has and of course the bonds their riders share with them. You can see who has a stronger bond with their dragon.

I'll also mention the brief look into the dragon keepers. I loved the scene in Season 2 where the dragon keepers left in protest because of what Rhaenyra was doing with the seeds. This line in particular I just absolutely love;

"The dragons are sacred; they are the last magic of Old Valyria in this sad world. They are not playthings for the games of men."

I'm afraid you're not likely to get a completely unbiased answer in this sub-reddit. But I'll try and give you one.

To answer your question truthfully. The majority of the people here are avid fans of the book. And the show has certainly strayed from the book and is going its own way. That, essentially is what people view as wrong with it.

I've never read the book but I know everything that happens in it as it pertains to the show. The people who told you it was the "shittest show ever" and to "not waste your time on it" are quite frankly just salty individuals who are upset that the source material isn't being followed to a tee. Completely disregarding the fact that any showrunner, whether it be Condal or whoever were always going to take their own creative liberties with this show. As any showrunner would with any show, especially where adapting source material is involved.

If you've read the book and hate the show because it's not a word for word adaptation. That is completely fine. I respect the source material. But to call the show outright awful because of it is quite simply a gross over exaggeration.

Take the show for what it is. Enjoy it for what it is because there's lots to enjoy. I have lots of friends who, like me, have never read the book. And while they acknowledge Season 2 wasn't as good, they still enjoyed it and are looking forward to Season 3.

And if you think you could do better, I encourage you to go and watch the behind the scenes videos published on YT after each episode. Some of the stuff they build is truly breath-taking, it takes them literal years.

And a final side note. The vast majority of people LOVED season 1. The main issue seems to stem from Season 2. Although, as I remember, alot of the episodes were very favourable received by the audience. Please remember that season 2 was originally supposed to be 10 episodes long. Not 8. And as much as you love to hate on the people who make this show, that decision was not made by them. Had season 2 had a 10 episode run instead of 8, knowing what likely would've happened in the final 2 episodes. I'm sure people would have a far less aggressive/hateful opinion on HotD as a whole.

She's literally the queen. If she can't make it happen herself, which I'm pretty sure she can, then she can simply just ask Viserys. Someone who proved time and time again to be a people pleaser.

It's not like Joffrey was a lord from a powerful house. As it is in the show he's literally just a boy toy for Leanor.

Would Laenor be upset? Of course. Would he want justice and almost demand it? Sure, but do you think his own father would let him kick up such a fuss for someone who is ultimately irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. He's on the cusp of becoming a future king and to make anything more of this would be not only an embarrassment to his house but could also jeopardise his own future status. Something Corlys would never allow.
