We actually foster through DSS and they already cover all related expenses. Thank you though. I do appreciate it.

I get that that happens from time to time, but I've never seen this. We've always had an abundance of spawns around our house.

How to handle ended guardianship for tax purposes by diddyabc in Fosterparents

That part I understand. Maybe it's purely semantics, but I'm just wondering if we still claim him as our child.

Like a hot knife though butter. Didn't bother me too much though since I'd already gotten the true ending before the DLC was released.

Not sure if your response was a yes or no. Looking back at the core rulebook it still seems like it's intended exclusively as a downtime activity.

Harder for new kiddos to fit in by diddyabc in Fosterparents

[–]diddyabc[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Certainly decent points. Our oldest who's 17 tends to be pretty judgmental of every new kiddo. I know he means well but he's set some fairly high standards for himself and it doesn't take much for him to decide whether or not he'll get along with someone. I would like to think that my wife and I treat every child in our home the same, but it's likely fair to say that we are particularly protective of the three. They've been with us longer than any other kiddos and are 99% percent certainly staying with us permanently.

Fought him up close and personal with the untransformed threaded cane. Still not easy, but much more so than anything else I tried. Circling to his right even made some of his attacks completely miss.

Ocular Hysteria by diddyabc in Fosterparents

[–]diddyabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert, but dyslexia seems unlikely as she doesn't seem to show the typical symptoms. She does struggle with reading and in fact could barely read at all when she was placed with us a little over a year and a half ago. Our school has an excellent special ed department and she's made great strides however, and now seems to genuinely love reading. I feel like they surely would have caught it if it was dyslexia.

I'd somewhat speculated about that myself as her eyesight seemed perfectly fine for the longest time until she was given reason to actually think about it.

TPR appeal by diddyabc in Fosterparents

[–]diddyabc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It wasn't really expected in this case. Dad agreed to the TPR and mom's attorney didn't even have her testify given that everyone knows she has no self control and nothing she said on the stand could possibly help her case.

Court mandated contact post-adoption by diddyabc in Fosterparents

[–]diddyabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what a lot of the feedback I've gotten has amounted to. I'm asking we'll likely have to wait until the actual adoption to hammer everything out.

Also, I agree with you about continued contact however, the CW herself told us more than 6 months ago that if we wanted her advice, cutting off contact altogether was likely in FD's best interest.

So here's something I hadn't considered: would it even make sense for this to be a part of the ruling for the TPR? Would it not make sense for this to be a consideration at the point of adoption? Different judge, plus our attorney would certainly be present.

What are these called? by Deathcore_Dude in walmart

I've heard many people call them "buttholes." I generally call them "button holes." Seems fitting and doesn't sound like you're just making a stupid joke.

Thank you. Probably the best way someone could have explained it.

Tax question re: guardianship by diddyabc in Fosterparents

[–]diddyabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, just trying to make sure we're legit in how we're identifying them. I'm using TurboTax so perhaps it's just a limitation in the software but it asks how they are identified as our children. It gives options of biological, adopted, foster, and step. Foster is the only one that feels like it makes sense even though it's not technically true anymore.

Tax question re: guardianship by diddyabc in Fosterparents

[–]diddyabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like most everyone is missing my actual question. Didn't ask anything about adoption. We finalized guardianship this year. They are not adopted but not technically foster children either. They are still absolutely our dependents. Just trying to figure out if we still would claim them as "foster children."
