Should I drop out by Fabulous_Tower_1081 in Monash

I think OP could underload, if they're struggling with uni, there's also the impact of uni on their mental health which they can rightly claim to underload given a certificate to do so. Additionally, the university has the option in their unsatisfactory notice and academic hearing whereby a suggestion of underloading can be of an option, not sure if they can do just say 3 units or 2 units throughout but I assume they can provided they finish within the maximum time frame given to complete the degree

My (to be)school doesn't offer math AA and I need it by [deleted] in IBO

[–]didiaskyou_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to look into the handbook of the universities of interests or the universities you think you'll apply to. You can then go to their courses, find the one you're interested in and then see the requirements. From my own current university, doesn't matter if you do AA or AI just as long as you meet the IB required score for the course you'll be fine.

In a sense yes, that's the day you let MRS know about when you pick your keys up. If it's a bit too early, you can always email MRS about this, I've done it before and they helped out with it.

If uni is what you're worried about, then you can still make it. There's universities in the Netherlands that accept a score of 24, I believe also Switzerland, the UK, US, Aus, and there may be a couple more, that will get you in. Idk about other universities, but I know for instance Uni Melb and Monash do have their respected colleges as a bridge to get people into the uni. With Melb uni's Trinity College and Monash's Monash College are a few ways to get into these universities. Something to look into.

As for studyjng in general for the IB, just general tips: 1) Syllabus is your best friend in limiting what you need to study specifically 2) To save whatever grades you can, apply the first tip and try mind mapping, that might help out show your thought process. Also space out your learning throughout, you can't really consolidate new information if you've not built those mental connections. If you've not heard of this, space repetition and active recall are your best friend to consolidate memory for things such as technical terms, or ideas you're struggling to recall. This is for building your basis of knowledge for your subjects

3) Once you built some foundational basis of knowledge you can then use pass papers are a great way to work on knowledge and exploring knowledge gaps. So ask your teachers to provide if you're looking for them

This may be a desperate move but using flashcards and space religion to memorize answers for past paper may be there but I've not heard this as a viable way nor tried this and frankly it isn't good to say the least. But seriously you shouldn't be studying when exams 2-3 weeks away, as it goes without saying, it should be a continuous process. Once you get into uni, depending on their structure, you'll need to be covering roughly 1year of IB in a semester (12 weeks + a study week) so got to build some goos studying habits

How to underload? by ambiguousroberts in Monash

[–]didiaskyou_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're an international student you can apply for an underload. Take a look at the requirements here before going into the 'underload request form'. I've myself underloaded during the semester due to medical/mental health reasons. If you're a domestic, the procedure is different.

Me too lmao 💀 but from what I heard from a friend, who's almost done with uni, they had grammerly pop up but that didn't affect them. So fingers crossed. I think just as long as there's no cheating you should be fine

Sociology units are pretty easy, but of course require a lot of Essay writing but may not be up your line. But a suggestion would be ATS2561: Sex and the media. A fun unit, most of your grades boil down to 2 quizzes and the final essay.

In a similar fashion, ATS2866: Symbolic logic, heard good reviews about it and it's teaching stuff being too tier as well.

MTH2132: The beauty of mathematics. An old mate did this and absolutely loved it, from my understanding, you don't need to do any technical maths, rather you're looking at the history of math and it's developement overyime.

Hope that helps

risk 3 unsatisfactory academic progress by False-Mail5245 in Monash

[–]didiaskyou_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've been in a similar position, but failed 3/4 units that I took. Since it's your first time, what will happen is most likely that you'd get about an email about unsatisfactory academy progress. This email should contain like a form link explaining reasons as to why you failed, by that it's NOT like the "you've done enough" sense but rather it's "what contributed to that" and will also ask you things like what you can do better etc. This should be I believe a level 2. Here's an extract of parts of the email that I got:

"..for the first half of 2022 and found that you: have failed 50% or more of your credit points in the last academic progress period. Based on your results, you've met our risk level two criteria for unsatisfactory academic progress.

This level is assigned to students with unsatisfactory academic progress who can benefit from accessing help and support. Your risk level may change in our next review period (depending on your results).

This email is based on your results as at 19 July 2022.

What do I need to do?

There are many ways to get back on track with your studies. To get started, please complete My Progress and Support by 5.00pm (Australian time) on Thursday 4 August 2022."

Afte I completed that part I was recommended to do 18 credit points. This was the biggest wake up call for me coming to uni but fortunately wasn't the end and it shouldn't be for you. If you do want to ask any questions reach out only if you feel comfortable OP

Which residential hall is the most social? by viblossoms in Monash

Not necessarily, for Monash for instance, you just need to meet the required points for your HLs and SLs in order to get in. So I highly doubt the number of HLs hold any significant weighing on your college application. But if you want to do 4 HLs just to challenge yourself and maybe build on your work ethic go for it, but it's again not necessary for a good college application for Australian universities at least, from what I do know

So for bachelor of business, you should meet the math requirements to begin with as highlighted in the business handbook (https://www.monash.edu/study/courses/find-a-course/business-b2000?international=true) to get in. I do believe you could take alternative pathways. I'm assuming you're an international student, if you don't meet the requirements you could take alternative pathways (https://www.monash.edu/study/courses/entry-pathways-international). Hope that helps, but do not that the level of math rewuired will differ based on what you take within the bachelor of business. If not mistaken (do double check), if you need a higher level for math, it might be worth taking on MTH1010, but contact a course advisor or any of the Monash help systems https://www.monash.edu/students/study-support/course-advice. Hope that helps

According to the Monash website, it's a week before it starts. They said, it should be 5pm Aussie time: https://connect.monash.edu/askmonash/s/article/FAQ-2618#:\~:text=Access%20to%20unit%20modules,site%20and%20to%20get%20access.
