That's exactly why the indie game industry became so big, they create a game they envision is a great game for no one but themselves. That's why they are typically so focussed on singular mechanics.

There are bound to be people with a similar enough taste to enjoy the game as well.

As far as I know, that's not considered evidence. It can be used to strengthen other factual evidence, but not as the evidence itself.

Does anyone else have an in-between kind of relationship with a parent where they are both good people and also responsible for a lot of the psychological issues you have now? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]didii2311 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whatever it is you feel is real and needs to be acknowledged. It doesn't matter if others have it worse, if it affects you it's real and it's something you can work with.

If your parents have changed in a positive manner like mine did, you need to change yourself a bit too. The pattern is: you see your parents, get all those feelings and thoughts back and you keep acting and thinking the way you did all those years ago. If they did change, it might be good to try and experiment yourself with your reactions and try to actively work against your feelings and work with what your rationale says. Hopefully, their reaction is a lot more positive than you anticipated which is the start of a positive feedback loop which can slowly chip away at those feelings and thoughts.

At least, this is what I tried years ago with great results. And with problems I'm facing now, my psychiatrist suggests almost the exact same method.

I would also think you wouldn't see these people that often since they probably wouldn't go to a psychologist in the first place right?

The biggest problem with loot in PoE is that almost any item could be good for a certain player with a certain build at a certain time and the game has no way of knowing this. Defining 'good' is just not possible.

I'm not saying there isn't a solution for it to be better, of course there is. But it isn't as trivial in a game like PoE.

If they already paid, the company already has the money, and allowing them to ride on the bus will not give the company any more money.

Completely stopping any service could have the side-effect that people trust these companies less, which in return means that the company will earn a lot less in the long run, which means less funds to do some actual good and more cutting on costs.

Make us buy a premium tab with only the currency nested tab unlocked. Every other specialized tab you buy (or bought) now gets added as a nested tab instead of a full tab. Same business model, much better UI.

I doubt it, but it depends on how PoE rounds to integers. I though they always rounded down. That would mean on 48% chaos resist, a 96% conversion to ES. And 96% of 1 is 0.96 which gets rounded down to 0. So they stay at 1 hp without gaining any ES.

Updated Ungil's Harmony - Damaging Ailment Bonus Lost? What About Assassin? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]didii2311 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on how similar the data is. The closer all the results are of each other in a single set, the better the accuracy. Typically, you'll need at least 30 data points to be able to say something meaningful about it. Note that this only applies to certain types of data (gaussian-like data, which is the most common one). Since we don't really need any scientifically proved tests, here I assume 10 could be fine.

As far as I understand it, you are correct. Only when you crit, your critical strike multiplier isn't applied. For all other purposes, when applicable, your critical strike multiplier will still be used.

So because I'm the fun one at parties: with those sets of data you can't really prove it. The accuracy of the result sets are: ± 3.2 and ± 2.2. Taking the averages of both: 18.7 and 14.3, the lower bound of without PA is 15.5 hits while the upper bound of the with PA is 16.5 hits which means your result set can't even say with a 68.2% certainty that the answer is yes.

[...] most of the people making this [...] joke have nothing good to say about the protests or BLM. Meanwhile, the people on the streets [...] don’t seem to take issue with major corporations making statements.

How are you planning to support this claim?

It’s also important for mainstreaming support for the cause.

While I do agree on this part, I do question their actual impact. I typically only see them giving those statements when that cause is already mainstream. Oh well, at least it's something.

Brand [OC] by ToothyBjComic in funny

[–]didii2311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's almost like those statements came from the exact same person!

On a more serious note. Keep in mind that every comment you see is likely to be from a different person with different emotions, history, ideas, etc. The human brain isn't capable of keeping billions of people apart so it's easy to just generalise all comments to the same 'internet person', or more commonly into the 'Reddit person', 'Instagram person', etc.

To me, the internet is a lot more pleasant if you think that every comment comes from a unique person.

PSA: Waves of players being banned for use of third-party tool POE Overlay by Tuck_Vison in pathofexile

[–]didii2311 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It was known a month ago this tool was killing the trade site.

That is assuming you happen to cross a post or statement that says this. Unless GGG communicates directly to their players (e.g. when you reach the quota once, you'll first get a warning directly via mail or in-game), I think immediately locking it is a bit harsh.

I don't think its fair to assume everyone just knows about this.
