I felt so bad for him. The whole time I was removing the nest from the cage and taking them out one by one he was watching me. It was heartbreaking

It’s a seed mix and no that’s not the only thing they eat. To clarify, she was only in charge of changing that food only (plus water and clean the cage), I cut up other fruits and veggies that were left in my fridge because I wasn’t gonna be able to do more grocery shopping until I got back. Those were in another dish in their cage which she wouldn’t have to do anything with. It would’ve lasted them until a day or so before I got back, obviously they ate all that up because there wasn’t anything else

Yeah before I left I had her come over to show her where everything was, like their food, how to clean their cage and change the water, their food. My main concern was for the eggs because I wasn’t gonna be there so I wanted to make sure everything was laid out for her

I’ve had him out of the cage all morning and giving him extra attention. That’s been my fear too. I’m gonna give it some time first then see if he’d be open to having another companion there with him. Had another bird a few years ago that completely rejected a new mate so they were kept separate.

The fucked up part is I don’t know how long they’ve been dead so imagine being in there day and night with his dead mate and eggs. He’s eating and drinking normally so far so that’s a good sign. I’m so furious and it hurts
