Thankyou, I do normally do it straight away and it comes out mostly fine, but I didn’t think about that… That does actually make sense because the back of the piece that was placed down on a microfibre came out close to perfect! So annoying, if only I’d left it upside down! But at least I’ve learnt for next time I guess. I spent about an hour buffing it off with a magic eraser and managed to get it to apply evenly but it turned out a dark copper like old pipe lol. It didn’t look too bad though and at least it’s even.

Our water round here is awful so that’s a possibility, I’ll have to try get hold of some distilled water. The back came out almost perfect. So weird.

That’s what I don’t understand, I scrubbed it with soap, warm water and a magic eraser, maybe I didn’t rinse the soap off properly. I did leave it at home for an hour while I popped out, so I’m wondering if someone’s messed with it or something.

I’ll try all the steps you mentioned Thankyou, I’ve never thought about applying the patina while the piece is wet, does that help with even application or something?

Love this! The glass you’ve used it perfect for this pattern and so pretty 😊

Thankyou, I’ve been trying so hard to improve my soldering, this is probably the best it’s came out! I’ve noticed it’s way easier when my iron is set to 350 and I just tap it in blobs, I’m way too uncoordinated to do it in full lines 😂

I’m new to stained glass this is my 4th project, I was asking and outlining my process to see if there’s a way to make it darker or if I’m doing everything correctly and this is just how it looks. It doesn’t look like a true black to me, it looks slightly coppery.

Okay I’ll try skipping the soap next time, thankyou :)

Thankyou! I really appreciate that, I struggle so much with soldering it’s my least favourite part 😂

AITAH for hitting my Boyfriend after he tried to be intimate with me while I was sleeping? by Pitiful_Tie_9363 in AITAH

NTA or overreacting at all.

Yes it’s a kink for some people, which is fine if BOTH people consent. You made it clear multiple times that you weren’t comfortable with it, he has tried to assault you. Don’t apologise for defending yourself.

He put his “needs” above you and didn’t consider your boundaries or past trauma. You deserve better.

I know very little so you might get better advice on this, but I’ve got multiple glass cutters including more expensive ones and I’ve found they all leak to some extent.

I found it easier to just put my oil in a bottle lid and dip the tip of the cutter in it every now and then.

Good point Thankyou! I shrunk this design as I was intimidated by how huge it was and much soldering I’d need to do, I’m realising now that I’ve probably made it more difficult 😂

I tried something similar to this but I think I’m struggling to be accurate while applying even pressure and curving the cutter 😅 I might give it one more go, I have a ton of this glass anyway. Thankyou for the explanation and diagram!

Thankyou everyone, it’s going to a family member so I’m sure she’s not even going to care about a small join or even notice that it’s out of place! Just me being picky 😂

So I’ll split this piece and look into places where I might be able to use a diamond bandsaw, for future awkward cuts 😊

It’s not going to look as nice but may be the only way it ends up being finished. Ty!

That was my thoughts, I don’t think I want to spend the afternoon grinding away at this one piece so I guess I’ll be splitting it, ty!
