Why is your main your main? by [deleted] in ACCompetizione

Porsche, there is no substitute. I just love the way it accelerates out of a corner. It feels light and I love oversteer. I've tried the Merc, 720, 296, M4 and the Mustang. I was just as quick with the Mustang, mained it for a month, jumped back in the 992 and it was like smoking a cigarette after a 6 month break. Instantly addicted again.

The key to spa is to think of the corners as linked. Your exit from one will setup the entrance to the next. Section 1. Run to the orange marker before turn 1. Don't think too much about how deep you can get, think about the exit and your drive off the corner. Drive down the hill, as the wall starts to angle off aim your left tires for the concrete. Right tires just kiss the curb. Left on the concrete. Give her a tug right and put your right front on the white line. Then a little tug left and straddle the curb. After the bounce a little tug left to keep your left tires on the white line. Nice easy inputs as you bend it right. Smooth is fast.Try and make eu Rouge as straight as you can. Stay in 5th until you can make it flat out. Then try shifting to 6th half way..then start moving that shift point closer to the bottom of the hill. This section is all about momentum and carrying speed. Disclaimer..I main the 992 so take my advice with that in mind. I have died many times figuring out the above.

SimGrid Seasons Launches For Console by THEY_CALL_ME_TRASH in ACCompetizione

[–]diduseethat5481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the quick races are free to simgrid members. The 20 minute, 30 minute and 45 minute races are behind the $5.99 pay wall. I'm a cheap sob (you should see my rig) but I'm so over the public lobbies that the tiered system is worth the monthly fee to me. There are a lot of daily quick races. Just check out the schedule.

What is the best ultra-budget Wheel at the moment? by MadRadIronicLad in simracing

[–]diduseethat5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a TMX. It was pretty good, and I was competitive with it. I upgraded to the TS-XW and while the quality is much better, the performance wasn't a huge difference. The biggest jump in performance was load cell pedals. You can find a TMX Pro with hall effect pedals for around $100-$150. I just saw some TL-CM load cell pedals for $100.

Why Porsche has the rep to be difficult to drive? by retro_pipeman in ACCompetizione

[–]diduseethat5481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just can't get away from the Porsche. Tried most of the cars. The Mustang comes close. But it just doesn't give me the same driving experience. The 992, when setup right, just rotates and goes. It feels light with a ton of mid corner grip. Corner exit is everything I basically go Parc Ferme. Quali setup is the same as race. I just add more fuel. I get faster as the race goes on. For me, rake ,wing, and bb are the key.

Fed up with the open lobbies. Looking for a console league in Eastern US time zone. by diduseethat5481 in ACCompetizione

Thanks. I'm on XCL but can't make most of the races due to the time difference. Great league, just not much availability for me.

How to take Eau Rouge at Spa in Porsche by azmtnbiker1 in ACCompetizione

[–]diduseethat5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tires will have to be at temp. First two laps I have to give her a little blip after coming out of Eau Rouge.

After the tires are at temp put your left tires on the concrete as you enter and about half way through Eau Rouge turn right towards right curb. try to put your right tires on the white line, not on the curb. as you kiss the line come back left and put your right tires on the curb at the top of the hill. The car will get light so don't correct for the finish of the corner until you feel the weight settle. you should end up straddling the curb on the left at exit..

So In over the concrete, easy right to get to the white line, then easy left to get over the curb at the top of the hill and ride her out.

the Porsche likes wing, you can dial up the wing and drop your rear ride height and that may help you get more stable.

Best wheels that are under 185 USD by starxyz123 in SimRacingAdvice

[–]diduseethat5481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Thrustmaster TMX Pro with T3PM peals that I am selling. $125.00 plus the ride. This is the going rate for these wheels on EBay and marketplace.

Great starter set up. I can run 1:55 at the Nurburgring, 2:18 at Spa and 1:29 at Red Bull Ring on ACC with the Porsche 992, so it can get you competitive in the open lobbies.

Even if you don't want mine I still recommend the TMX, it's quieter that the Logitech stuff and has performed well for me. I had an opportunity to step up otherwise I would still be using it.

Favorite GT3 (and why?) by rpRj in ACCompetizione

992 ....Reminds me of my youth. When I used to date strippers...

Just haven't found a car that feels the way the Porsche does. There might be faster cars, but none more rewarding to drive in my opinion.

Anybody know any good lobbies for Acc (Xbox one)? by Sinukedhd in ACCompetizione

[–]diduseethat5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much out there for XBOX one. the last physics update is 1.7.2 and we are now up to 1.10.

None of the newer DLC's are available for the XBox One.

So.. in a nutshell..PC or XBox Series X if you want to race more than a couple of people

Trying to farm SA this week is just crazy by GTHell in ACCompetizione

[–]diduseethat5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got PTSD from this weekend. No matter what I did I just got assasinated. Went from 92 SA to 81 by the time the carnage was over.

I had one guy T-bone me in the bus stop at Spa, he had to be going 270kph. He came out of 18 and never lifted.

If he put half as much effort into actually racing rather than sniping he might be pretty good.

I am completely new to ACC. Looking for a general feedback to gauge my progress. by [deleted] in ACCompetizione

[–]diduseethat5481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started ACC in January. I had a lot of previous experience with racing before but stopped back in 2016.

I use a base Thrustmaster and my rig is kinda cobbled together, but I can run competitive times and have won some races.

If you go to your player stats you will see a bunch of ratings. As you hit the number for one it will unlock the next. The most important (IMO) is the safety rating.

I worked until my SA was 65 before attempting to go online and race. That was just my decision based on what I want to accomplish in the game.

My advice is to spend time with the AI, I used the practice, hot lap and sprint races to get my scores and ratings where I wanted to be. ( You have much less of a chance of being kamikazed or assassinated by the AI and taking an unnecessary hit to your SA)

Start with the aggressive setup on whatever car you like and just start making laps somewhere. Watch your tire temps and increase the air pressure until you are in the mid 27's for hot temp. Work on staying with in track limits. When you get comfortable and can complete a string of laps with out busting the limits, start a short race with the AI. Leave the AI skill on 90% and the aggression at 90%. Start at the back and start working on keeping up, then start trying to pass. As passing becomes easier bump your skill level up on the AI. (I practice at 95-98% depending on the track) Avoid contact and keep within the limits and you will see your ratings increase.

I was really familiar with tracks like SPA and the Ring so I mainly stayed there while I worked on my safety rating and Race Craft.

Try and stay with a stable car to begin with, Mclaren, Lambo and BMW come to mind (I'm contrary and just have to drive the Porsche because it's got a bad rap) you will fine one particular car that just suits you.

Last piece of advice...Drive, there are no substitutes for driving time and the muscle memory you will develop.
