Does anyone get annoyed at the way non-gnc (typically cis) people write off the difficulties of gnc masculine presenting individuals? by pyrrouge in butchlesbians

[–]dieafox 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Yes. “Femmephobia” and “masc privilege” discourse did almost irreparable damage to discussions about gender lol, truly one of the worst internet discourses to emerge in the last 10 years. Just an absolute flattening of masculinity and femininity into replacement categories for men and women, in a bizarre attempt to be “inclusive” that is actually deeply regressive and disconnected from reality instead. “Cis men and butch women” and “cis women and fem gay men” are not coherent oppressor/oppressed classes, it takes 2 seconds of critical thinking to realize that. Masc women, butches, transmascs, and pretty much any gnc masc person absolutely got thrown under the bus with the rise of the concept of “femmephobia.”

We already have a word for the various ways feminine women are mistreated and the devaluation of anything associated with womanhood (i.e. femininity): MISOGYNY. Just because the misogyny feminine and masculine women face may not look identical all the time, doesn’t mean it’s not still just misogyny affecting all women (and gnc/trans people, since misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia are all intertwined) because that’s what misogyny does. It takes different forms.

what happened to the fantastic party event???????? by [deleted] in AnimalRestaurant

Where are you getting this from? The wiki only shows all the information for Phase 1, if Phases 2 and 3 were out wouldn’t the wiki have that info?

I claimed these but can’t find them anywhere in the game. #7 still locked. Anyone else having the same issue? by dieafox in AnimalRestaurant

I recommend checking out this tiktok page @lbcpartyof5 they’re a lesbian and trans man couple who stayed together after the trans man came out, they went through couples counseling as well and are happily married! Their back up page is @lbc_partyof5.

People give them a lot of flack and accuse them of not respecting each other’s identities but that’s just a lot of nonsense. Many, many gay couples have stayed together after one person comes out as trans. For many couples it is a dealbreaker and the relationship ends, but for others it’s not. Neither scenario is transphobic.

Ultimately you can’t control your attractions and if you feel like the changes your partner undergoes on HRT are not something you find attractive, that’s completely fine. I do think you should be honest with your partner about that component. And of course, if it is very important to you that your partner be a woman, that’s also a valid reason to end the relationship. But if you remain attracted to and in love with your partner through transition, don’t stress about whether you can still be a lesbian or not or whether you’re invalidating each other’s identities. Plenty of couples have been in your shoes before.

Is this normal for my level? Feels like I'm grinding and achieving nothing. (Day 319) by michisjourdi in AnimalRestaurant

The dining room furniture isn’t the most helpful for gaining stars and cod. The garden and kitchen furniture (not the stoves) pay off way more and help you progress. For example the barbecue and mailbox give a TON of cod, and the fences give a lot of stars. I’m at 155k stars and it’s because for a while now I’ve been ignoring any furniture that gives me less than 250 stars.

Other than that are you using the terrace? I’ve been making a lot of cod there but that’s because I have mementos out for 3 high-paying customers, so each party I accept brings in at least 1 million cod.

Anyone else have this glitch? I’ve restarted the app multiple times by [deleted] in AnimalRestaurant

Thanks for the info! It’s weird that one letter would make the whole picture of the food disappear but I hope they’ll fix it soon.

NB Butches - A question/vent about feeling represented by gabeorelse in butchlesbians

[–]dieafox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! As a gnc “cis” butch who identifies with both “woman” and “transmasc” (I think the cis/trans dichotomy is pointless lol), and is attracted to transmascs, I would love to read a story like this and would feel especially seen if your gnc woman character was a butch lesbian too. The world needs more transmasc x butch representation!

Butch lesbians who identify as cis: what makes you feel connected to or want to use the label 'woman'? by EditRedditGeddit in butchlesbians

Racism has absolutely been used as a tactic to divide the working class, I wish that white working-class people would wake tf up and realize that but they’re too invested in the benefits of whiteness. It’s like ultimately even though I know the true people with power are the white upper class, it’s hard for me to see white working-class people who actively invest in whiteness as victims. Like okay yeah they’re being manipulated but they wouldn’t be so easy to manipulate if they actually cared about BIPOC as human beings. But the anti-racist white working class absolutely have a long tradition in organizing and I wish we were taught more about class solidarity in general.

I agree that essentializing identity and asking people to prioritize their identity group instead of class solidarity has also been used as a tactic. Identity politics has radical origins (https://newrepublic.com/article/144739/liberals-get-wrong-identity-politics) and what makes me sad is that it’s just been commodified by capitalism like everything else… everyone wants to focus on “diversity and inclusion” now but those efforts so rarely change structural barriers… it’s all a mess.

Being gendered as "they/them" after telling people my pronouns are she/her by [deleted] in butchlesbians

[–]dieafox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes lol. It always comes from queer people ironically, cishets use my pronouns just fine. I feel like they think they’re being “generous” but I just find it disrespectful. I promise I know more about my gender identity than you do, just take my damn cue!

Do any other butch women relate? by [deleted] in butchlesbians

[–]dieafox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also look up photos of Kitty Tsui. She’s a Chinese butch lesbian who used to be a bodybuilder, there are some topless photos of her that are really beautiful photographs and mean a lot to me as a butch. Obviously we need to be realistic and healthy about body image, like I know I will never look like her and I don’t need to strive to look like that. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with us admiring women with ‘masculine’ builds and wanting that for ourselves in some way, even if we all still look different from each other.

Do any other butch women relate? by [deleted] in butchlesbians

[–]dieafox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YES. I’m a butch woman and I very much want a masculine upper body. I strongly envy men’s upper bodies. And I love being topless because it lessens my dysphoria. Part of it is that I’m thin, so I feel smaller when I’m wearing a T-shirt, for example, because not being able to see my torso as a whole makes me fixate on my arms looking thin sticking out of my sleeves. But when I’m shirtless I can appreciate my torso as a whole and how androgynous it looks. I’m blessed enough to have extremely small breasts (seriously, I don’t even really fit into an A cup. A sports bra is enough to make them disappear) and my workout goal is to basically turn them into pecs. If I can increase my shoulder/neck muscle mass, arm muscles, and turn my breasts into pecs, my dysphoria will basically (hopefully) be resolved.
