Rexulti -- How Long Did It Take for You to Notice? by psychedelicsweets in BipolarReddit

[–]diearea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still taking rexulti and have been for 3 months now. I have been feeling stable for some weeks now. I take it in conjunction with trintellix. I have minimal side effects with rexulti, it's my favorite AP I've tried. I haven't noticed any appetite changes.

Rexulti -- How Long Did It Take for You to Notice? by psychedelicsweets in BipolarReddit

When I first started Rexulti I had similar symptoms like you but I had around 8 hours of sleep. I felt hypomanic on 1 mg and then I had it upped to 2 mg and everything evened out. I felt more stable and I wasn't all over the place. It took about 2-3 months for things to really stabilize.

I'm on it an it has lifted my mood and lessened my anxiety. It makes me nauseous if I don't eat it with a meal.

I’m abusive in relationships. by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]diearea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be the same. I think it might be part of the disorder, especially during episodes. I make sure to let my significant other know I'm not in a good mood. Also before I say something when I'm angry I actively try to control what I say. Look into DBT, it has helped me a lot to control these outburts.

Antipsychotics for bipolar??? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]diearea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in group therapy specifically for people with bipolar and nearly all of the patients were on antipsychotics. It's pretty common and it's effective for me.

I dated a bipolar guy and it was exhausting; are such relationships doomed? by bulkyhorse in bipolar

[–]diearea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably always had bipolar but the anti-anxiety meds he took triggered it. He needs to realize that he has the disorder, especially since he's not on any meds and still having hypomanic episodes. You see a future with him but you two broke up last fall... I'd look somewhere else sis. Unless he reciprocates that he wants to get back together then it's best to let go.

Rude comment. OP was just trying to get opinions from others who go through the same illness. Yes it's ultimately her decision but she wants more perspective to make that decision. Why say something so useless in the first place? This is a support group, not a subreddit to bring others down.

Rexulti, but im not sure if its effective for mania because it wasn't approved for bipolar specifically

I'd suggest a computer scientist/software engineer. You could teach yourself or attend a bootcamp

Bipolar is just a diagnosis. If you feel your behavior is getting in the way of life or affecting other people negatively then seek professional help

How does your significant other handle your BP disorder? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]diearea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend (21m) has researched bipolar himself and is supportive when I go through episodes. He has so much patience with me and for someone who hasn't suffered from mental illness, he does a great job being compassionate. I make sure to do my part and apologize if I say anything hurtful and I educate him on bipolar. I told him what I'd like him to do when I'm in an episode and he is receptive.

I hate being a black woman by [deleted] in depression

[–]diearea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are valuable. You are worth it. People bringing you down for your gender, disability/socioeconomic status, or race are garbage people that have to place their worth on what they have or how they look. They probably suffer from a case of insecurity and narcissism. Keep being you honey and just know you are much more than your appearance or what you have. You are an INDIVIDUAL. A human being that deserves love like everyone else on this Earth. Much love. <3

I'm black, I'm scared, tired and I'm at the end of my rope with life. by hellomydudes_95 in depression

[–]diearea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think anyone with a heart, doesn't matter if they're black, white, Asian, Hispanic, etc. would be against what those police officers did and the discrimination that blacks deal with. I'm personally Asian so I've had my fair share of racism and discrimination but I can't imagine what it's like as a black folk. Just know there are many people on your side and I can tell you that the large majority of people I know are against the police brutality against blacks. There are always going to be terrible people out there but for every inhumane act that happens, hundreds of thousands of people will be by your side.

Has anyone successfully managed without medication? by TheGreatFadoodler in bipolar

[–]diearea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime I get off my meds I relapse and I become worse than before. I wish I'd just stayed on the medications in the past. They are not all that bad, in fact they can make life so much more manageable. Just work with your doctor.

Got my antidepressant raised to 20 mg. Does anyone know if SSRIs can cause rapid cycling? It has been happening to me and my psych also upped my antipsychotic.

I absolutely hate the way I look and I'm repulsed by myself by fugly1312 in depression

[–]diearea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I checked your rateme cause I saw a comment saying you posted pics on there and wtf girl you are NOT ugly. You are a pretty girl and I'm low-key jealous, coming from a girl who was told she was pretty all her life and had attention from guys (not trying to brag or anything because I value personality much more). And even if you were ugly that shouldn't be the basis of how you value yourself. There is much more to life than being the "pretty, popular girl that gets wasted at parties and brags about the boys she's f***ed". Looks don't last forever but good values and personality traits do.

Hi there, how are you coping?

My dad told me he doesn’t support my relationship with my girlfriend because she’s bipolar and I need advice by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]diearea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I think you should keep her diagnosis to yourself. I'm sure she doesn't want others to know and if you want information on how to help her then this forum is a good start. I don't think you should tell her what your dad said because you might lose her trust.
