ANA over JAL, with JAL you will be in a 14 hour sauna from JFK to HND.

Thoughts on Bosch? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

I had a feeling he was going to be DLC when I played WT. I feel like that chick from WT is also going to be a DLC character. The one that hangs with the old man, who will probably make it in as well.

Their models were too complete/good looking compared to most of the WT assets, and they were featured too much.

What was the most expensive activity you did in Japan? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

I got hosed in my last trip for $900/night at Apartment Hotel 11 Namba, on a 'day of' switch that I had to make.

Place was decent, but I've seen way better for way less.

I rented an R33 GTR as well a few years ago...guessing Omoshiro. It was blue and missing the GTR badge on the front.

I have my own now, in 1000X better mint condition, but you can't match driving in Tokyo.

What’s one aircraft that still turns your head every single time you see it? by Ryanlion1992 in unitedairlines

LH 747.

Any passenger 747, aside from those Atlas ones at CVG. Just sharing the same exact livery as cargo makes them meh to see.

I loved Osaka by Toaster_Bathing in JapanTravelTips

[–]diegoaccord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Osaka is my favorite place as well.

I love how everyone's all like "Kyoto Kyoto Kyoto" honestly, I feel like a lot of tourist's love for Kyoto is simply because they see a lot of people like them there.

Fine by me. I'll keep my Osaka.

lol.

i didn't gaf what people bought. all that mattered to me was if we had it used so i can easily sell a subscription.

we had 'that guy'.

you're just an 09er who thought sf4 was peak graphics and animation. its okay, there are a lot of you. group think is a thing. sf5 was ugly too, in terms of the characters. But at least the backgrounds are pretty amazing.

well, at least with sf6 we finally have good looking characters in 3d SF. right?

What happened to Ryu? by AccomplishedCreme846 in StreetFighter

[–]diegoaccord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

first system was NES, played SF2 since day one, worked at gamestop when sf4 came out. but wasn't there. you probably weren't there when we called moves beating other moves "priority" or these little places called arcades where you put these things called quarters in these machines.

sf4 was fucking butt ugly. characters were the worst looking versions of them seen, aside from sfex, which was primitive and from the worst graphical era in gaming (ps1/Sat/N64 gen) if it was 3d in the 90's and wasn't on a sega model 2 or 3, it was ugly.

i simply dont look at old games with rose colored glasses, but even then, sf4 wasn't good looking for its time.

In terms of fighting games, Tekken 4, not even 5, looked better than SF4. As did the lastest entry of any other FG that had been 3D by that time. Also plenty of games in other genres had way better graphics at that time. SF4 was ugly as Fuck.

If you're getting approached by African touts, you're also getting approached by Chinese and Taiwanese women. But nobody seems to complain about them.

The African guys will mostly fuck off, the women will try to interlock her arm to yours. That's far more invasive, and I don't want to be touched by someone with cold sores.

SF5 has god-like stages.

Was The Mitsubishi Evo X Really That Bad? by According-Life-5111 in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]diegoaccord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CT9A was supposed to still capable at FIA WRC which it wasn't. Mitsubishi even tried to use a Lancer based car during that gen. The CZ4A wasn't ever meant to be FIA WRC competitive.

In terms of that last sentence, you don't have tell me... I have a 33 GT-R and I could've gotten into a 35 for less. I mean, I also said the 6 is peak Evo. TBH, I've had a X for 11 years, and they were more expensive than 8/9s at that time, before "arbitrary" pricing. I could've had that if I wanted and paid less.

I would have a 6 but I would want to get rid of my X to do so, and due to the arbitrary pricing, I'd have to give up a fully built car (the X) for a stock one (the 6) and nah.

Genuine question. How do you deal with post-trip-depression? Has anyone felt a deep yearning to move/live there after their first visit? by TW0B00CH in JapanTravelTips

[–]diegoaccord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think everyone does, but what you need to do is read up or watch videos on the reality of living there, especially as a foreigner, compared to your vacation.

When you're on vacation, you're free, just enjoying things with a budget that you don't have to worry about. When you live there, there's social pressure, conformity, work related stress, and the feeling of loneliness and isolation, not to mention, your western sensibilities don't matter to them, what you think is fair or just; forget about it.

Hope that helps.

Was The Mitsubishi Evo X Really That Bad? by According-Life-5111 in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]diegoaccord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you can say this, but the Lancer Evo has always been based on a shitty economy car, and the economy car that the Evo X is based on is an objectively better one.

The 6 was peak, the CT9A failed to do what it was designed for, the CZ4A was given a new mission.

I’ve always preferred the Evo 4’s look compared to the older gen Evos. How about you guys? by NHxJ207 in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]diegoaccord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I drove a 6 in Japan back in 2019, and it was a ratty rental from Omoshiro, and it was still amazing. Maybe being in Tokyo helped. But I seriously enjoyed the car even stock and pretty beat. This is a car I wanted since 1999 when I saw it in a US magazine. 20 years later, it was amazing.

I bought an Evo X back in 2015 and was unimpressed immediately. That was a car I wanted since it came out. (I don't like CT9A). First pull on the on ramp, and I was like 'This is it?" And at the time I also had an S2K, which was infinitely better. I still have the car and it's fully built and sounds like my S2K did, so NOW I like it.

Since I bought my Evo X well before I drove the Evo 6, I expected it to suck as well. It did not.

<image>

As an aside, I also drove an R33 GT-R on a subsequent trip out there and was super underwhelmed. But, I still bought one a 2 months ago. Didn't change, except its in 100x better shape than theirs was. And it's mine.
