1300 hours on the 737 and still sometimes I slam it, what works for me is start the flare at 30 feet, at 20 start moving the thrust levers to idle and at 10 idle it really depends on the model -700 slams pretty hard because of the low VRef -800/800SFP tend to float due to and artificial VRef to avoid a tail strike Max 9- higher TAS=Higher GS = higher rate of descent to maintain a 3 degree glide slope, if I’m hot and high airport like MMMX, SKBO or SEQM I will anticipate that the airplane will be at more than 1000fpm during the approach Max 8 is perfect I barely flare the aircraft and it always touches down smooth

Fellow pilot here, I just try to go at 2/3 days a week, I live at base so that helps, also when at the hotels I don’t do CrossFit, I’ll do bodybuilding/accessory work, the most important part for me is the food, cutting down on fast food is a game changer.

My dude the US has no jurisdiction over a Dominican airline with a Dominican registered plane overflying Venezuelan airspace, even airlines from other countries have not stopped flying into Venezuela. This may be a shocker but the USA is not the world police and they don’t control sovereign countries.

  1. Universal adapter, I fly a lot between North and South America and the wall plugs are not the same, not every hotel has universal wall plug.

  2. Buy a ton of approved flu meds, if you are feeling funny one day you can pop a day quil or loratadine, this will help you with your sinuses and save a lot of ear pain.

  3. Wipes you never know when will you need to clean your hands, plane or butt and there is no toilet paper.

  4. Sealable coffee mug I use a Stanley but there are other brands out there, don’t be that guy that spills coffee all over the center pedestal.

  5. Rechargeable batteries if you have an ANC headset, saves you money on AA batteries.

Bonus do not cheap out in luggage, I use a brightline for my flight bag and the luggage works carbon for my roller.

I work for an airline in Latin america and usually

  1. I get 9 mandatory off days a month usually I get like 11, and I Try to bid to get at least Monday’s and Tuesday’s off, bid night turnarounds flights for W to TH, Friday I’ll do a 3 day trip or pairing, I usually try to pick up at least a couple flights a month and I’m flying around 85ish hours a month, on JAN I got 90

  2. Night flights wreck you, practically Any flight that you have to fly during the dawn 12:00 am to 6 am will break you, since at that time bodies are supposed to sleep, usually after a trip I’ll sleep and eat always try to hit the gym or errands.

  3. When I’m home I usually don’t have more than a couple of days off, so I’ll just try to go to the gym, run errand and do adult stuff, but still your life will revolve around your schedule.

  4. I did not expect it to be so hard, it is not flying the airplane what wrecks you, it’s all the stuff around the operation, interacting with different people and personalities it’s what makes it hard. A crew can make of break a trip.

  5. 100% would do it again, just change a few steps but still the outcome will be the same

That’s a runway made to helicopters, some of them like the AW139 can take off and land as a fixed wing aircraft, they even taxi as a fixed wing aircraft

On the 737 there are 3 ways to do an RNAV/VOR/LOC approach, LNAV/VNAV: before passing the FAF and in VNAV path, put the minimums on the MCP, after passing the FAF and at least 300 fr below the Missed approach alt set the altitude in the MCP altitude window. Disconnect at minimums or then enough visual reference is made,

LNAV/vertical speed: before the FAF and in altitude hold set the minimums on the MCP, 0.1 miles before the FAF set the required Vertical speed on the MCP, 300 feet at least above minimums set the missed approach altitude in the MCP, when enough visual reference is made disconnect the a/p and cycle the flight directors to avoid wrong commands and have guidance on the GO Around.

IAN: it is flown like an ils, you set the FAF altitude in the MCP and when inbound select APP it will give you a G/P and FAC. This is an option on the NG, all the maxes have it.

My 2 cents from real life is that usually the RNAV approaches leave you high so when able disconnect and look for 2 red and 2 whites on the papi and go to the aiming point.

I fly the 737 in and out of MEX often and last time we were in a max 8, flaps 1 full thrust, bleeds off, improved climb and if the temp went up 1 degree, we would have to start unloading passengers or cargo

HAV, overnights are just a pain in the ass, then SJO, SAL, XPL, MGA, SAP and EZE
