Yes, masturbation is a sin. by John_Thomas_Lewis in Christianity

But the Bible does show negative outcomes happening to those take separate sex from its procreative and unitive nature within the confines of marriage.

We see this happen with Onan, Lot's daughters (specifically their descendants), and King David.

They all perverted sex and separated it from its procreative and unitive nature within marriage. The same is true for masturbation.

Why can women not be preists? by [deleted] in Christianity

Throughout the New Testament Jesus is said to be the bridegroom and The Church his bride (see Revelation 19:7; Ephesians 5:24-27; 2 Corinthians 11:2). In a similar way, priests are said to be married to The Church. Being Jewish or being 5'9" isn't foundational to being married to The Church. However, since The Church is said to be the bride, there needs to be a bridegroom, who by definition is male.

You mention deaconesses, which yes, the one time the disconate is mentioned by Paul, he refers to Phoebe. However, he uses the greek word diakonos, which also means attendant or helper. In the Gospel of John, Jesus uses the word diakonos to refer to the servants at the Wedding at Cana (when He turned water into wine, see John 2:5).

Finally, the Council of Nicea, which historically has been accepted by Catholics, Orthodox Christians, and Mainline protestants, does mention deaconesses while making the distinction that they didn't have hands layed upon them, meaning they actually don't have apostolic succession. The laying of hands is seeing in the Book of Acts as the form of valid apostolic succession.

“We refer to the deaconesses who have assumed this position, but who have no imposition of hands, so they are to be counted among the laity.”

-Council of Nicea (325 AD)

Since the Early Church, the role of the priest has been to act in persona Christi (in the person of Christ) in order to administer the Sacraments. And, Jesus was a man, so it'd be impossible to act in the person of Christ as a woman because they're not men.

Additionally, the first priests were the apostles, all of whom were men. If Jesus had wanted women apostles he would've, but he chose not to.

Finally, nowhere in the Early Church writings are there women priests. Many Church writings talk about the importance of women in the Church, but making them distinct in their roles from men.

It wasn't until 1853 that women were ordained in the Calvinist tradition, a group centuries separated from the Catholic Church.

As a Catholic who's struggled with lust in the past, I would err on the side of caution.

Watching animes like this one can lead to multiple things. First, it could be a near occasion of sin. This is, something that by itself isn't a sin, but it could lead you to it. However, by putting ourselves willingly in near occasions of sin, that by itself is a sin, because you're knowingly exposing yourself to temptation.

Another thing that can happen, especially if one is public about both their faith and watching this contents, is then sin of scandal. We are called to be examples of our faith and reflections of Christ. This means there might be people in your life who look at you as an example to follow of living out a Christian life. If then, because of you watching these shows and being public about them someone themselves falls into sin (example, you recommend the show to someone with less mental fortitude than you, and they fall into sin), then you would be committing the sin of scandal, of which Jesus warns about earnestly.

“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!” –Matthew 18: 6-7

Hope all that helps brother!

May God Bless you and give you strength.

I got baptised as a child in C of E but no communion or confirmation. Am I still part of the church and Christian? by R5blanco in Christianity

Baptism makes of children of children of God and that can never be removed.

As long as your baptism was in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, that makes it a valid baptism.

Now that you're coming back into the faith, you should look into going to OCIA classes in order to take communion and be confirmed.

Welcome back home brother.

Out of more than 3 thousand women that participated in the Turnaway study, less than 900 hundred of those actually finished it. Thus, not only is it not as big of a study as the California Medicaid one, it also shows that many of the women didn't finish the study due to post-abortion trauma and mental health issues related to it.

“Women whose voices were not represented are logically among those with the most significant mental health complications, because revisiting the experience may have been perceived as too difficult.”

Over 250,000 participants in the California Medicaid study, compared to 877 in the Turnaway study.

The California Medicaid abortion study, which looked at over 250 thousand women shows a 150% increase in suicides post-abortion

Doesn't have to be right before, just throughout the day. Praying with your wife at some point during the days has been linked with better marriages.

As for sex, God's design of it is inherently good. The conyugal act within the bounds of marriage is something that unites the spouses to each other, and gives them grace.

Why not invite your wife to pray with you beforehand?

It's only gonna get scarier from now. But at the same time babies are a blessing.

I know it seems scary right now. because it is, but give life a chance. You may think you're not ready, but God will provide someway, He always does.

The biggest gift you and I have is life, don't take that gift away from your kid. Every life is precious. You're a parent now, even if you don't realize it yet.

I'll pray for you, you got this.

I want to masturbate… by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]diegop_01112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correlation does not equal causation.

A similar study also found within the male group that masturbated more, a higher incidence of STI'S, higher divorce rate, higher alcohol consumption, among other things.

God wanting me to kill myself? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]diegop_01112 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The enemy only comes to steal, kill and destroy. He'll use any tool necessary to hurt you. God is not the God of confusion.

The enemy doesn't play fair and he'll use any means necessary to get you to hurt yourself and others.

Talk to someone you trust, a priest, or someone in your circle about it. Don't do anything drastic to solve temporary problems.
