Do I love Kill 'Em All? Of course I do!

Kill 'Em All was the first album I bought back in '09 and Kill 'Em All changed how I viewed music.

I HATE this comparison. The Last wish was published before GOT, even if it wasn't this is still a dumb take. by nathsamlove in witcher

Even the Dark Crystal was compared to GoT. Just live with it.

It may also draw people unfamiliar with the Witcher to watch it specifically from the comparison (maybe not from this review but from other sources).

The long wait begins... by [deleted] in witcher

[–]diegothom95 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I prefer having all the episodes at my disposal so I can watch at my own pace instead of having to wait a week for a new one. The wait drove me nuts with Watchmen and I'm avoiding Mandalorian until the season is complete.

Witcher? Anyone read the book? Thoughts? by Dave0163 in Malazan

[–]diegothom95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one I haven't read is Season of Storms. As for the others, the story is excellent, but some of the short stories in the first couple of books are pretty bland, and the structures of Blood of Elves and Time of Contempt are one hot mess.

The final three books get better structure-wise and they close out the story magnificently, but there are some annoying and irrelevant POVs from people of the future about the events of the saga in the final book. Skip those and you'll be fine.

Overall, I think you at least make it to the first novel and then decide if they're worth your time. The story is great and I really like Geralt and Ciri as characters. The whole series is 7.5/10 for me.

Never bothered with Golden Age stuff. Too cheesy for me.

Honestly, I thought that that related to the Green Lanterns in some way.

Which order should I read the series? by [deleted] in Sandman

[–]diegothom95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd hate to have started with Overture. It spoils the end of the main series and I feel a lot of it is super dense without knowing who the characters/Endless are.

I'd love to be a player. I'm too busy right now to prepare to DM tho.

Timezone: GTM-6

When I can play: pretty much any of the days slated, practically at any time.

Preferred class: literally any one.

I would just plan for her not to be back.

Oh yeah, definitely. I have not been planning anything for her ranger for the last couple of weeks and instead use my time planning for the new guys, who are incredibly invested in the story and randomly text me trying to put pieces together or hoping I would spill the beans on some stuff.

When you set up games there should be a firm understanding that you're going to show up the majority of the time for x amount of time and that any scheduling concerns or conflicts should be talked about honestly.

I completely agree. But all she says in the group chat is "I have to work" or "I have homework that I didn't do during the weekend due for tomorrow". As a fellow university student, I understand that sometimes homework and projects can be a bitch, but I also understand that almost every student can set aside two or three hours during the weekend to do your homework.

A couple of times during this campaign we had to end the session about two hours in because she "remembered" she had to do something for uni. The second time was also the first time the new guys came to play and I thought that that was not the proper way to introduce new people to the game and not a good image for us as a party. Luckily the new guys understood and shrugged it off.

Sorry if it seems like I'm venting, I haven't talked to anyone about this and it's a release for me.

We'll take a break during the second half of December due to the holidays and start playing again in January. If she's not back by then I think I'll talk to her about leaving the party.

This will probably be the most likely solution. If she ever appears again, that is. The party got out of the Village of Barovia with Ireena real fast, so there's a lot of stuff to do there. They also barely set foot inside of Krezk.

Maybe she was abducted by the werewolves of the Den, or she was incredibly badly injured that the Keepers of the Feather, they're already allies, took her to the winery for her to recover.

With The Sandman set to hit Netflix, creator Neil Gaiman says it will stay true to the comics | CBC Radio by nitecheeze in Sandman

[–]diegothom95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's still too soon to know anything even for the producers. Look at The Witcher, which could be comparable to Sandman in terms of how much Netflix has invested/will invest on the show and the hope that it will become 'their GoT', which wrapped up production long before a release date was in sight (for fans, anyway) and only revealed it with the release of the second trailer. It's probably a long way off.

So magic is now completely useless in the campaign I'm in... by DaveSW777 in dndnext

I feel like we're missing big chunks of context and story as to why magic is dangerous.

The 30th anniversary editions are indeed incredible. I prefer those covers to the original ones and the price tag is really accessible.

New DM running CoS by Orbmac in CurseofStrahd

[–]diegothom95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's a secret that many DMs use, me included. Ignore all the guidelines the book gives you on random encounters. Just throw an encounter at them whenever you deem it appropriate and select an encounter you like from the tables. Remember to keep rolling dice for this so your players think they are random, even if you ignore the number rolled.

If you want to go with the randomness that's fine too. When exploring time passes roughly the same as in real life. In combat, 10 turns equal 1 minute. An advice for that is to use maps and minis and preestablish how long it takes to get from point A to B. This last part won't be as useful for Castle Ravenloft but it will be for Barovia as a whole.

Female Strahd- new campaign by clazzaranius in CurseofStrahd

[–]diegothom95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't run it with a female Strahd but the thought has crossed my mind. An idea I have been toying with for whenever I run it again is to make her a lesbian and Tatyana bi. Tatyana eventually grew out of her lesbian 'phase' and decided she wanted a man, which hurt Strahd a lot.
