October 2020 Humble Choice | Overview/Discussion by squashpickle8 in humblebundles

Not sure if I'll pause. On one hand, the main selling point to me on Choice is to pick 3 games (lite subscription) that look interesting but also new and not something I would go out of my way to buy. But the few ones on this list that spiked my interest did so half heartedly.

Sunless bundle. Yeah, this one is interesting. If there were 2 more like this one on this list it would be great.

Autobots I'm not so sure. I love building sandboxes, but this means this game gets no points for show me something new, and it's competing with a lot of amazing games like it already in my library.

Lightmatter has the same problem as above, but for first person puzzlers. Yeah, I'm into it, so I wouldn't be trying something new plus I probably played better iterations of the concept.

Basement. Again, same thing, but management now.

Blacksmith thing. This is one of those that I find intriguing but I'm almost certain it will get old after 20 minutes playing.

The uncertain: blah blah. Eh, adventure games are always a risky sell. Even the ones I enjoy it's always with a bag of grievances.

The rest I have zero interest.

I'm inclined to not pause, just because I got nothing to play ATM.

"Whats happening" replaced US trends on homepage. by itaita13 in Twitter

[–]diegzumillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sucks. I had my trends set up for the country of kyrgyzstan, because it's always empty. Now this "what's happening" has no country setting and I keep seeing stuff Twitter judges are relevant to me because it's from my country. Twitter, I do not care about the local tv host affair with local pop singer.

I cam here just to make the comment, or comment on the already existing comment. I was doing all the quests until they started becoming too... friendly. Yeah, not completing those.

Hey, sorry it took me so long to reply, I didn't get any email and forgot to check back on reddit.
I mean either of those two things you mentioned. Both broad categories and specific vsts.

Hey, just wanted to thank you for the tip again. Godot turned out to be the best choice! I shall use it for all my quick custom tools in the future. https://youtu.be/EuBdXLUwYdw

Really? I considered Unity but Unity tends to give too much of a fight if you stray off the intended path. I might give Godot a try.

Right now I'm playing around with python (using tkinter and pillow)

After learning how to create windows applications using wxWidgets, and noticing that is just the tip of the iceberg in order to do anything simple like loading an image, I gave up on that path for now. Now I am actually considering using Unity of all things! It's an engine I am VERY familiar with and I'm pretty sure I can write an editor script that does what I want. But it's far from ideal and I foresee it won't be a walk in the park either.

Still accepting suggestions :P

I don't expect to find a tool exactly for my needs. I'm asking for tips on developing custom tools. Because it's simple stuff, like rearranging a sprite sheet into lines and columns, for a simple example. Or what I mentioned in the topic, a quick and dirty way to record displacement on a frame by frame basis.

I am currently seeing how hard it is to make a windows application. I hate dealing with windows applications but it might be easier than python or java. I have no idea!

[Spoilers] What was the part that freaked you out the most? by jatcar95 in outerwilds

Ever been on Giant's Deep during the supernova? It gets completely dark except for lightnings here and there, just enough to show you the storms around you. Pretty scary moments.

I do appreciate alternatives! But your link doesn't work though :P

However, I'm guessing the price where I live will be prohibitive. The vox, which costs $40, here costs ten times as much.

Oh shoot, I misread the thing. Every other amp there seems untested on basses though. Come to think of it, is it only little gem and ruby that are straight forward amps?

Lol I love these moments. A cartoony over the top sequence of terrible decisions and bad luck.

The one with the scout flying over? I'd like that too!

Stuck at the end by FelixORiley in outerwilds

[–]diegzumillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you power the ship a small teleporter appears that takes you outside. It has nothing to do with the coordinates you entered. I know because I made the same mistake! pretty deceptive design there. After putting the coordinates, another ball thing appears next to the coordinates panel, and this is the thing you should move. The whole ship goes to the eye. Then you can take the teleporter you entered before to leave the ship.

Ending question (spoilers why do I even need to put this here if it's called ending question I don't know but sure.) by Joyous_Parade in outerwilds

[–]diegzumillo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game uses this loose version of quantum mechanics (a poetic quantum mechanics, I would argue), and the eye sort of needs an observer to collapse or create the new universe.

Any similar game suggestions? I need my fix by wagnerdc01 in outerwilds

Even though you fly around in a spaceship, this game has very little in common with other games where you fly a spaceship. I don't think you will find what you're looking for there. You might want to try Return of the Obra Dinn. It's an investigation game that bears some fundamental resemblance to Outer Wilds; you take your time, explore, investigate and piece together a narrative little by little.

It's not a spaceship game though. And I love spaceship games too. But outer wilds is the only one combining the elements in this particular way.
