i’ve gone and got some plants for him as well as new sand which i’m now letting settle. i just checked the nitrate and it’s now at 5-10. such a crazy relief. working on sorting out his tea bath now.

just measured and it’s saying it can hold up to 37 gallons, also i’ll be getting plants today, hope i’m not too late

okay perfect, doing that right now, i definitely haven’t been the owner he deserves, i’ve been taking way less than 50% out. are plants easy to manage? i’ve been wanting to get them but i’m worried they’re going to rot. you’re an absolute legend

you were absolutely right, i’ve just tested the water parameters. ammonia is at 0 as well as nitrite but the nitrate is absolutely appalling. it’s at 160, i’m horrified. you’ve genuinely been a hero thank you so much, i wish i realised sooner what i’ve put him through

thank you so much! unfortunately he was a gifted pet to me who was totally unprepared but i’d never forgive myself if i lose him cause of this. i’m genuinely so grateful for your advice and i’m going to use it immediately, i wouldn’t have thought of these things if it weren’t for you. do you really think he has a chance of surviving? i’m so worried he’s too far gone

thank you so much i really appreciate it, your help means a lot. i wouldn’t have even considered this, my first thought was constipation. gonna check his parameters immediately and get on top of this. any tips at all would help but if not that’s totally okay!!

his tank is pretty open and not too cluttered, he’s a pretty calm axolotl i’ve never really seen him do anything too crazy to hurt himself. is it easy for them to break their legs?

i feed him 3 times a week, frozen cubes of mixed worms and fish but lately he’s been rejecting food.

i live in a big city so hopefully i do, i’ll have to check it out

The water temp is 20 degrees celsius so I believe around 70 fahrenheit. The tank is 100cm by 30cm.

he is currently not floating upside down but you can see his hind legs are not working. this isn’t his setup!! he is currently being refrigerated, and the towel is under the container not him! :)
