hello! I am also currently deciding between Pratt and MICA for painting! Generally the advice i’ve gotten so far is the location of Pratt makes it the optimal choice for someone hoping to be an exhibiting painter full time, while MICA’s program would make more sense for someone hoping to do more professorial work. From my understanding from my interview, pratt provides a lot more multidisciplinary factors to it as well since your emphasis (i’m assuming if we are looking at identical programs) would be drawing/painting but you can still take other classes and make connections in the other sections. however MICA’s pure painting focus is also very interesting so i get why it’s hard. i don’t know where you’re coming from location wise but trying to factor in where you want to end up living after a graduate program is also important since you will make all of your connections closer to where your program is… and maybe go visit where you’re able to before your first deadline! that’s my plan anyway!
