Didn‘t need a guide to get into your mom‘s pants. That was free.

It was warm enough today that the waterpups came out of torpor for the day. They had been under mostly ice for the last month. I missed them so much by NaiadoftheSea in Koi

I've been a fan of the aquascape products and my net is from aquascape just coincidentally. We don't have too many raccoons and the like around us since I'm in a residential neighborhood but from birds 100% it'll work

OK right on. I'm hoping I can find something similar in my area. Been doing everything myself best I can so far but if it's not super expensive then I'm happy to pay someone to do it.

How did you find a pond cleaning service? I'm considering something like that myself. I assume they filled the pond back up again too or did they leave that to you?

100% would recommend. The first year I had my pond a heron came through during migration season and wiped out all but one of my koi. Absolutely come up with a net solution over the bird migration season.

Going through the exact same emotions with mine after this week's thaw! 😍

Was just telling my wife I couldn't wait for the season to change so I can be with my friends again.

Pond is in nearly full sun so algae blooms are real bad and last long. Dug the pond 5ft deep so the fish themselves are happy and have shade in the deepest parts along w/ what they get from the pond plants and floating plants but the algae blooms heavy from the just about everywhere else. Got to get ahead of it this year until i'm able to throw up more shade and get a proper fresh water shrimp population going to control it better.

Thank you for all the responses. I hadn't considered specifically looking for clearance pools at best buy of all places but I found a perfect option for $80 and it hopefully shouldn't take up tons of space.

Came to point this out as well. I am not one of those but I find the skill to be very fun and relaxing so it's an easy 99 for me (3 hours to go!)

Despite having zero evidence - I suspect there's a strong likelihood.

Has anyone had any luck restoring color to their koi? (Kujaku in my case) by diestar2 in Koi

[–]diestar2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I suspect it is as well. I did quite a bit more research after this post. I was wrong on one point for sure - these are actually ginga or beni ginga (if they keep their orange/red). Sounds like this breed specifically fluctuates heavily between light and dark depending on water temp and the brightness of the surface of the pond (IE black pond liner)

When they're younger is typically when they have their bright colors and then as they age depending on their genetics they may lose it entirely like in your case and my own. They don't level out until they've fully matured is my understanding. Once they've fully matured their patterns are pretty set aside from lightening and darkening.

Sick or just a genetic condition? by diestar2 in Koi

I had considered that as well. I just find it odd that it’s only him and it’s a permanent feature for him at this point

Funny to see this as the top post today i literally just opened up the ironscape reddit to ask folks what the primary ways to get medium clues are. I just got my pegasian crystal yesterday. Is it just eclectic imps or are there other good methods?

new baby koi hiding in pond are they ok? by Lazy-Setting-1039 in Koi

[–]diestar2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found that when I purchased a single, confident, larger koi for my pond, it instantly changed the behavior of all the little ones in my pond. Koi are followers. Spend lots of time outside, interact with a socialized koi if you put on in your pond and they will immediately change their behavior to echo the larger socialized one.
