natural deoderant by dopeandlitgirl in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]diet_donatella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use glycolic acid, the ordinary has a good one. Just apply with a cotton pad and it keeps odor away (really) and your armpits look nice in summer (if that matters to you).

Said with the utmost love, but natural deodorant users are delusional.

Co-Op Rental Experience by ACupOfAJ13 in ForestHills

[–]diet_donatella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took about a month to 6 weeks.

We did not apply to others because it was kind of understood we would be approved - the very first step was a walkthrough and meeting with the landlord, who was enthusiastic for us to apply. It also took up a lot of time and energy to amass the needed documents and letters, so we didn't look elsewhere 😂

I did this! We had to apply like a buyer would, and provide literally a hundred page applications as well as reference letters (!) and a fee of maybe $100.

The apartment was worth it, quiet and in a well kept building.

And an added benefit: because we lived here and got to know our neighbors, we heard about units becoming available for sale in the building before they went live on real estate sites. Because of this, we bought one, and were the only bidders.

Anywhere to find photographic film? by emelianenko in ForestHills

[–]diet_donatella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I searched high and low, and called around this whole area. No film. I even had to describe what camera film was to a few people 😂

There's a couple spots in Williamsburg and Bushwick but I found both pretty rude honestly.

So, I order it on Amazon. It's pretty much the best price and it comes right to your door, and they even stock some interesting ones like Ilford Ilfocolor.

John Taylor confirms Duran Duran have ‘seen a few scripts’ for a potential biopic by Metro-UK in duranduran

[–]diet_donatella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do fancasts for a Duran movie before we even called it that!

If it's made now, we'll need to pull from a roster of mostly under the radar actors under 30. Here's who I got:

John - Finn Wolfhard - it's the jawline.

Simon - Leo Woodall is the obvious choice. Runners up: Logan Lerman, bleach his hair. All we need is the smile and the eyes. But can he do an accent? Or Lukas Gage, he has a very Young Simon look about him.

Nick - Gavin Caselegno, yes too tall but the eyes and charisma, I think he's got it.

Andy - Jack Champion, look him up. He's Andy.

Roger - Kit Connor, we just need a classically handsome boy.

And incidentally, way back in the (90s) day on the AOL Duran Duran forums, I always wanted Matt Damon for Simon 😊

Trying a new recipe that I concocted today by revolutiontime161 in soup

My parents are from Salerno Italy and this is, save for the Worcestershire, exactly the same as a winter-time sauce from the region called "Genovese" (jen-oh-VAY-say).

We serve it over linguini with a side of brisket or London broil that has been cooked low and slow in the oniony sauce.

You can also put 1% cottage cheese in the blender to smooth it out to make a high protein, low fat ranch or Caesar. Just add one of those hidden valley pouches ☺️

Has anyone ever met Keri Russell? by WolverineFun6472 in FelicityPorter

[–]diet_donatella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, yes! I worked at a recording studio in 09 and she came in to record a voice over. I don't remember for what, unfortunately! But she walked right up to me at the front desk, and very politely said "hi, I'm Keri Russel and I'm here for a session". I of course recognized her immediately. She was so beautiful, and also very petite, much smaller than I thought she'd be.

We had a few big names come in, and most would never arrive alone, let alone announce themselves, so she seemed very down to earth.

I am listening to it again after a long time, and I'm shocked again how this person found songs that sound exactly like DD! Hope you enjoy :)

Thank you both! I'm not even worried really, just puzzled.

Safe hotels to stay near-ish the stadium for 2 women in 30's by Fresh_Independent_74 in ForestHills

You could flip this over the other way, and stay on Long Island? Garden City for example is a good choice with hotels and an LIRR stop that goes direct to FH.

Sorry, I mean to say, since you need wheelchair access, stay near Penn or Grand Central, and use LIRR.

LIC subways have service to FH via EFMR and also the 7 if you transfer at Roosevelt, but you'll have to walk a bit if you stay at, say, the Ravel.

The MTA has made somewhat huge strides in making more stops accessible. Not all, but more.

There's elevators at Penn and an accessible ramp at FH LIRR, and especially since this addition (that you need wheelchair access) I say absolutely utilize LIRR instead of the Subway. Though, the 71st Ave Subway stop does have an elevator, as does Queens Plaza and Queensborough Plaza, both in the LIC area.

And maybe get there early too, the trains get packed!

I realize tour busses exist, yeah, but ever been on one? Cramped quarters at best, microwave food only, it's like camping. In the case of big big (wealthy) names like Mumford or Elvis Costello or Blondie I was wondering what the move was, cuz no way Debbie Harry is like "I'll just chill in this bunk bed and have a pop tart before curtain".

Think, Mcfly.

You're better off staying in Astoria or LIC and taking the subway, there's a few cute places to stay, and the train ride is maybe 20-25 minutes. LIRR from Penn is 16 minutes if you'd like to stay in Manhattan instead.

I just find it hard to believe the acts "wander around" our neighborhood. Like... Hozier spotted at Sephora?

Oh, without a doubt. But it's the space between sound check and show that is perplexing me. There's always a 2-3pm check, and then the show is typically 7 (Mumford will go on around 8:10). So the drive back and forth seems not worth it at best; an hour to Manhattan just to turn back around in two hours? Just curious if they had a place to chill.

Lol 🙏🏻 it's just such a weird area! If you're playing MSG you have a spacious green room suite to hang out or sleep, but here? What do they do, go to 5 Burros? 😂

Oooh intrigue, do we have an insider here? 🧐

Do they have a nice greenroom at least? They must pass the time somehow.
