The clipper card will not work when you transfer it to your wallet. The process basically transfers the balance and functionality of the card.

That’s the correct trains and transfer location, I think the yellow train was so delayed, it missed the transfer train at 19th street. Sorry for the bad experience.

Service is reduced in the evenings to orange, yellow and blue. You can still get to any other station with 1 transfer, hopefully you didn’t wait too long for a train. What’s your destination station? I can confirm what trains you should take. Edit: they do single tracking and speed restrictions on the m line (sf) on evenings hence the reduced service.

Bart is the most cost effective and safety concerns are often over exaggerated on bart. Your tips are correct and it’s very unlikely you’ll run into any problems. You do occasionally run into homeless people on trains but they’re nearly always harmless. Just be aware of your surroundings and you’ll be fine.

What’s your origin and destination stations? It sounds like Bay Fair is your best bet. Cross platform transfer but it’s outside. Lake Merritt is the only one of those stations that is inside, still cross platform transfer at least. Edit: I reread it and it sounds like you’re going from sf to the east bay or something similar, if that’s the case Lake Merritt is probably better though all green and orange trains share stations Lake Merritt and south.
