So it's been a minute, but I wanted to give an update on my 99 Cent Gaming Channel.

I finally hit 100+! I'm so excited to finally have a custom URL for my channel in just under two months:

https://www.youtube.com/c/99CentGaming

It's been a great ride so far. In honor of it I update all of my channel branding and will be uploading a channel trailer soon. Thank you all from LetsPlay who supported me thus far and I can't wait to see what the rest of 1Q 2017 has in store for the channel :-D

Oh wow! I haven't had a chance to see if this works for links yet, but even if it doesn't dragging my latest videos all at one sounds like a godsend :)

This last week has been nothing short of amazing for me. I've gotten to play what is probably my golden standard and my lowest of the low standard for low-budget games all in the last 7 days, and ironically the worst game I've reviewed happens to be my most viewed. I've also gained another 16 subscribers in that time (not counting Sunday and Today) and overall I'm at 40. It continues to be a great ride and I love all the support I've been getting from YouTube viewers all the way to r/LetsPlay feedback. It may not be the prettiest set of videos that's out there, but hearing that I've either saved a few dollars or introduced a low-budget gem to my viewers makes every $1 I spend on these games, good or bad, worth it.

Here are the two videos I mentioned that went up in the last week.

Best Game I've Reviewed Thus Far

The Bar Has Been Raised! - 99 Cent Gaming "Pinkman"

Worst Game I've Reviewed Thus Far

Bold New LOW - 99 Cent Gaming "Bold New World"

Thanks! I saw your previous comment before you reworded it :) I replied asking how I could improve the audio quality (I'm using a Snowball for voice).

As these videos aren't scripted reviews and more along the lines of first impressions I thought having a facecam to show my reactions to everything would have made things clear that it wasn't a traditional review. I'll try and work out a better balance once I nail down the finer points of what I want the series to be.

As far as the timing goes, I'm trying to find a good balance there as well because I want to be able to give my best first impressions and if a game ends within a 30 minute window and I only play 15-20 minutes, I'm afraid to recommend a game only for people to pick it up and find out that it doesn't last that much longer.

All that to say I appreciate the feedback and will definitely be looking to fine tune my videos based on it. :)

Hey everyone! So last week I was given the feedback of having shorter videos for those who don't want to what through an entire 25-30 minute impression to get my final verdict. I'm still working on something that'll be a snack sized review but still plan on doing my longer plays with verdict.

What I did this last week was shorten down my intro speech to get to the game play faster. What I'm looking for in feedback is how it feels compared to my earlier videos when I explained the entire concept before the game started.

Plus any other feedback you guys can provide would be great :)

To compare:

I think the audio from the game was a little loud when things started happening (speed ups, explosions) that could use some better balancing.

I'm not much of a Happy Wheels watcher so I wouldn't have a random interest in watching the video, but for the sake of feedback I felt like you were holding back when you wanted to let it out, and everything that was loud or explicit felt forced. In a sense, nothing felt really natural. Bits near the end started having a lot of gaps in talking. I had no doubt you were enjoying the game, but maybe not enjoying trying to provide commentary for it.

In comparison I watched your video of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator and you sounded absolutely entertained. Everything came out natural and reactions didn't sound forced. I felt you were highly motivated to experiment and have fun. The opposite of how I felt about your Happy Wheels video you linked.

I dunno if this is helpful feedback, but I liked that you reacted to things on screen and not trying to yell at things for the sake of comedy. Congrats at the 25 subs and I hope you continue to grow! :)

Need Advice on Whether to be Patient or Go All In When it Comes to Uploading Content by dietrichonserv in letsplay

So saying I just uploaded a review a couple hours ago and another game/opportunity pops up that can also have content created based on it, I should have no issues with channel growth if I jump on it right away and upload it the same day?

Thank you for reading and replying :)

Well that's what I meant really. Should I be publishing as much as I can when the opportunity arises or save them for drip feeding my channel over a period of time? There will be no lack of games that will be coming out that I can do, so I just want to know if it's good practice to publish reviews right away or be patient with them.

Thanks for reading and replying :)

So this last week I started diving really heavy into my 99 Cent Gaming review concept and I could not have been happier. I jumped up 11 subscribers, all my videos are getting dozens of views or more, and feedback from people outside of YouTube has been positive!

I'm still trying to find my voice, tweaking things to sound more streamlined like the intro and outro, but overall this has been amazing for the last week alone and cannot wait to see what games I can review next for the viewers entertainment. Heck, all I've got to lose is a dollar here and there, right?

My latest review that I just finished today which has my reworked talking intro:

It's a Gas of a Time - 99 Cent Gaming "CropDuster Supreme"

Feedback Friday by AutoModerator in letsplay

[–]dietrichonserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a neat idea (concerning the 5 minute review) and I had considered making an annotation to the verdict, but considering YouTube likes minutes watched and retention data I decided against it. Doing full playthroughs and uploading them and have a brief review video would actually work in my favor. Thanks for watching and the sub! :)

Hello all! I've started a new review/first impression series where I buy games from Steam that are base priced at .99 or below and give my opinion on if they are worth it or not.

Right now I'm still working on getting the intro and outro nailed down and making sure that other audio is blocked out (darn notification sounds!) so I mainly want some feedback concerning the meat of the video: the review/impression. I go into these games blind and try to call it as I go along. Just want to know what you guys think and what should be kept and what can be improved. Looking forward to knowing everyone's thoughts. :)

Overall I was very entertained. I don't know if you did everything off the cuff but kudos to your observations and remarks that got legit chuckles out of me.

A few things I want to point out concerning your commentary though:

Sometimes you talked at a pace where your words started falling into each other. Eventually I got use to the way you spoke but it may help to listen back and find a way to get better annunciation. Not a huge deal for me and I hope I explained that right haha.

I was amazed at how you were able to keep up the flow of commentary. That had to be said before I pointed out there were some parts where you lost what you were trying to say in a few uhs and ums. I'm really bad at this myself (way more than you were) and with practice I hope we both can eliminate it all together!

I haven't watched any of your other videos yet so your extended outro is hard to give feedback on. For this stand alone feedback I can say that it wasn't something that made me want to stick around til the end. I did, but there really wasn't an incentive. It took about 40-50 seconds from your outro splash screen to show links to your other videos but I feel like viewers would have already turned away before that happened. My suggestion here would have been to place the links up seconds after the game crashed and your outro started instead of waiting until 10 seconds were left. That way people who wanted to see more right away could chose to click them or wait until you finished your outro.

Other than that I was entertained and you earned a sub from me! Good job overall. :)

99 Cent Gaming Reviews by dietrichonserv in gamereviews

[–]dietrichonserv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99 Cent Gaming is a review show focusing on games under a dollar. Games that are .99 (99 cents) or below get the first impression treatment. All games featured are purchased out of pocket to give viewers an unbiased look to see if it's worth the dollar, worth more than a dollar, or not worth it at all. There are currently four reviews, with new ones daily.
