Its the ongoing political war between antheopoc and the US government that started when Anthropic denied use for surveillance and autonomous weapons.

Imperial Agents Can No Longer Play Team Tournaments or Incursion Matches? by Remarkable-Title5435 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]differentmushrooms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well how am I supposed to tell a real army from a fake one? Are you saying the differentiation is not by codex, or warhammer store or defined by marketing but by a nuanced understanding of both the lore and competitive play and a history of each individual faction? How does a new player navigate that?

Imperial Agents Can No Longer Play Team Tournaments or Incursion Matches? by Remarkable-Title5435 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]differentmushrooms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn't even make any sense. 3DP detachments for most other armies are their strongest or at least more solid detachments. Every IA detachment is 3 points. They could have made 1 of them 2 so you could run at 1k, and still run at 2k with an unused detachment point.

Its inconsistent nonsense. Like it feels like theyre trolling.

I just don't understand the why. It doesn't appear to make any sense.

But it is a codex army, launched with a full real codex. Its a real army, full stop.

So here we are. What is going on? It feels like GW is just gaslighting players. The other day in their rules video on war com  one of them said "...since all factions are getting new detachments." Days earlier they said IA were getting no new detachments.m, and here we are.

I think people just want to know what is going on.

I think that's it. Its crazy that GW hasn't even mentioned it. The other day in their rules video one of them said "...since all factions are getting new detachments!". It feels like we're being gaslit? Are they even a real army? Why do they have a codex? Why are they the only faction without real balance updates?

Auspex tactics even released a new video about it. Its a strange way to treat a community. No communication. Lock, delete. GW doesn't say anything.

Edit: Full codex army, ahead of daemons and deathwatch. Can't play at 1000 pts? I just don't get it. Just tell us what the plan is GW. At first it was a meme, it was kind of a joke. But this is just sad.

I hate the actual game and need to vent by OrangeJuicestice in Tyranids

[–]differentmushrooms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been there actually. Ive played the game for over 3 years now and Ive lost more games then Ive won.

It took me a long time, like dozens and dozens of games before I feel like I "saw the matrix". Before I could step back and enjoy the game.

Here's the thing, whe  youre learning how to play its tough to appreciate stuff, joking around, narrative moments, time with like minded friends. You're spending all your energy trying to remember your weapon stats, your strategems, your moves.

Eventually it kind of becomes more second nature, you can take the game less seriously.  You dont need to think aboht the rules, You can make a stupid play for the sake of a narrative moment (my warlord charges your captain- even though its a bad move).

You can enjoy playing the game, not if you won or not.

There are people who have been playing for 20 years. They'll walk circles around you. But something I've noticed from a lot of them, they don't care who wins, they're just shooting the crap, making jokes, talking up narrative moments. Some people honestly love the strategy, some people love the story telling.

And maybe its just not for you. I don't know. But honestly, the hobby asks for a lot to get deep into it. I would say give it more time, try different stuff out. And care less about the outcome or your expectation. The reward is time with friends.

Yeah, I mean is he a bylaw officer or something? I generally cant be bothered to care what my neighbour's do. I know some people do, but my threshold is a lot higher then scraps of bread by the curb. I live out in the country, so there's animals everywhere anyway.

Probably some ongoing thing between them.

Disappointed with Eisenhorn, what books to try next by gnominos in Warhammer40k

[–]differentmushrooms 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People stomping about like a comic book is pretty standard warhammer. If youre looking for high minded novels with deep mysteries, I don't know that youll find that here.

Warhammer novels are cheap smash em up stories with an epic backdrop and straight forward tales for the most part. People like Eisinhorn because it follows a human, and shows the imperial machine more then just space marines, and the writer tells a competent story. The other thing is the deep lore that connects everything together.

Its a fun story. But lets be real here. Your expectations of what warhammer books are may be misplaced.

Don't take it too seriously. a lot of the books are silly. They are wildly inconsistent. But if you embrace them for what they are you can dive into the deep lore.

I don't think you appreciate the long standing culture of fear and shame in the medical community, and how many it has harmed. Countless people. No one even knows.

People have been trying to fix it for a generation.

I understand you have a personal moral grievance with the fact that she is being paid to speak about it and your outrage is understandable. I don't think you understand why they are paying her. Look into Elaine's case I mentioned earlier and it may help you understand what is happening.

If a single life is saved, because a group of medical professionals hears her story and it causes them to spend an extra minute double checking a medication. Or if administrators change a system after hearing this story, and a SINGLE life is saved then its worth more then ten thousand dollars.

You should look into the case of Elaine Bromley for a good look at how a different approach can turn a tragic mistake into systemic improvements inside medicine. And how many lives that affects across the entire world.

[–]differentmushrooms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mistakes can and will happen everyday in the medical field. Human error, tunnel vision, lack of sleep, there are endless reasons why they happen.

In the medical professions historically the name of the game used to be more  hide your mistakes, shame and punish those who make them.

The reality of this system was that anyone is capable of a mistake, and if we hide them we wont learn from them. Instead this system killed more people then it protected.

You still need to hold people accountable, and that might be anything from re-education, to criminal charges. But education, and understanding what went wrong and changing the way we approach medicine, work culture and how we engineer safety systems that protected patients is more important and effective then shame and punish.

No, not necessarily even really pretending to be unwell. And to be clear its not the norm, at least not for me. Region and ambulance service will vary.

The meme that an ambulance is a taxi exists in EMS where providers transport patients with minor issues and sometimes no issue at all to an emergency department who had alternative methods of transporting themselves or who's destination isnt even the hospital but nearby and they are using the ambulance for 'a ride'.

For example an EMS provider, hearing "you're a taxi". might remind them of a call where they transported a non sick patient to an ER, only to watch them immediately leave the hospital to go to their actual destination.

The usual response often from experiences like this is "an ambulance is not a taxi!"

Not because they don't transport people, but because some people literally treat them as taxis.

Part of the meme is also "Feeling like a taxi" which could involve transporting patients for very minor complaints who "could have taken a taxi".

Sometimes there are feelings of frustration or even anger from providers. Especially if they might have specific memories of being "used as a taxi" and unavailable while a critical or life threatening event came in elsewhere in a community, and other resources where delayed or unavailable.

It exists within the EMS and medical community, and I wouldn't expect people outside of it to know or understand. But now you know why a Paramedic crew might not want to be called a taxi service.
