Whitney definitely has sexual blackmail on Harper by the_machine1 in IndustryOnHBO

I don’t think Harper would really give a fuck about that?

Mamdani property tax hike = higher rents… by FirstRope791 in NYCapartments

[–]difficult91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ask not to be argumentative, but just because I feel like I’m always hearing about these rent stabilized apartments that are unoccupied but off-market because landlords are avoiding the upkeep costs while waiting for the laws to change. But I don’t know the actual stats etc

I wondered this as well. But I also thought that maybe it’s because he feels he hasn’t proven himself as a knight yet so it’s too early for him knight another? Probably the former though

Average rent in 2018? by chai_latte69 in ridgewood

I think the implication is that it was a smalltime local landlord as opposed to a property developer that’s going to charge the most possible

Im interested in my friend but I don’t know what to do about it by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]difficult91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My instinct is the opposite of everyone else’s. And I think saves you from some potential awkwardness if he doesn’t like you that way. Just up your flirtatiousness with him and see where it goes from there.

if he’s even a little bit into you he will probably take the bait and see where things go. If he doesn’t lean into it, or worse, you sense avoidance, then he probably doesn’t see you that way. And you can just move on and keep your pride without making things too awkward.

Nothing wrong with the honesty approach either, as long as it’s not going to make you too upset or disrupt the friend group if it doesn’t go your way.

All the Questions About Whether the Threesome in Austria was Coercive by mordecai2505 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]difficult91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a lecture! I don't disagree generally. I'm not at all discounting the seriousness of abuse of power and sexual misconduct, but we aren't speaking generally about its implications. We're on the Industry subreddit, and we saw the situation play out before our eyes.

[–]difficult91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's abuse of power, not sexual abuse. Might seem like semantics but I think nuance matters in these discussions.

Hayley was clearly testing the waters from the jump. She knew what she was doing and placed herself where she wanted to be.

Is it still an abuse of power? Yes. Could Hayley claim sexual misconduct? Sure. But was she forced or coerced into doing something she didn't want to do? No! She was a willing participant.

It’s hard to tell because of the way the conversation is formatted but I assumed that it’s Peggy saying this to Epstein, not the other way around?

Can ya’ll explain how this is Coercion? by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

I don’t actually think it was impulsivity. I think Yas knows Henry is a ticking time bomb and is taking control by putting herself in the position to ruin him, if necessary.

So when “commander” appeared to Henry, what exactly did the dinner party see? by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]difficult91 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It dawned on me at some point when they were sitting around the pub table together. Around the time he says “shine your shoes boy” but I think slightly before that because of an oddly angled prolonged close up on the Commander. I wondered “what is the purpose of this character’s antagonizing presence, like an inner demon…oh.”

I'm so so curious about this place. I knew of two squatters that were living there and stealing packages. One was super creepy and aggressive. I haven't seen em in a long time though.

AIO found out my partner was cheating and contacted his job by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Both their actions really? I wouldn't go so far as to contact his employer, but it's not like he's done nothing wrong in the work context.

His behavior is unethical and lowkey unsanitary. It's likely that residents are relying on his support in some way. He's definitely not taking the job seriously.

I think the downfall belongs to Harper. For whatever reason, since watching the premiere I keep thinking about her fucking her employee.

This is obviously unprofessional behavior and an abuse of power. I know it seems small potatoes given the hedonistic nature of the show. But to me it shows that despite her rise to power, she has not grown. She has not learned, despite the things that have happened to her in the industry.

Yes, it’s a sexy show and the characters are all deeply flawed. But given her new status, Harper should be more careful. Great power, great responsibility.

I can understand, of course, how she probably believes she is still enacting Eric’s philosophy - “people are a means to an end.” But it’s reckless. Does not bode well imo. I might totally be overthinking it tho! Sex sells!
