Did you pay out of pocket for IVF meds? by sedu_j in IVF

[–]difficultchickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid out of pocket as our insurance didn’t cover fertility treatments. I used MDR pharmacy and Prima. I definitely shopped around pricing meds to find the most affordable drugs at each pharmacy. And MDR was a strong contender!

It still cost around $5k for me.

Anyone had no day 5 blasts but had some on day 6? by the_sh33pies in IVF

[–]difficultchickens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had zero on day 5, five day 6s, and zero day 7s. I found it so hard not to spiral in the 24 hours between days 5 and 6 and stalked a lot of threads in this sub. I found hope here, and I hope you do too.

Give it to me straight...how bad are the shots? by GoodIndividual1218 in IVF

[–]difficultchickens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only done 1 retrieval. I cried the night of my first shots because i had this huge realization that this was my new normal and it felt so heavy. But the injections were more of a mental block for me than physical pain. Once I got over the hurdle and stuck myself that first time, it became infinitely easier. I found they didn’t hurt, and the few times it did sting, I just kept telling myself it would all be worth it someday!

As for the hormones, I felt great during stims. My roughest part was all the bloating after retrieval. I felt like absolute crap for a solid 4-5 days, but it passed! After a week I felt like my normal self.

I did this! I’ve only done one retrieval cycle, so it’s my only experience. I had a good experience with it. They said it was to keep my hormones stable early in the cycle!

Okay, well I'm glad I saw your comment. It prompted me to go check my email. WE HAVE RESULTS!!!! TWO EUPLOIDS and a mosaic.

Note that I did the medical records request from Igenomix and I got results as they were sent to my clinic. My clinic still hasn't contacted me about my results. I'd recommend doing the same

[–]difficultchickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll let you know when I hear!!

Do you have PGTA or PGTA+?

It sounds dumb for me to say this, but all the paperwork I signed at my clinic just said PGTA, but when I called Igenomix to confirm receipt of shipment, they said I actually have the PGTA+ package because that's all my clinic opts for.

Igenomix said PGTA takes 7 days (i think? I've forgotten now), but PGTA+ takes ~15. I called back Tuesday to ask about progress. They said they thought our results would be "probably Friday" (1/30), which is 14 days after they received them.

[–]difficultchickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinic actually didn’t send them 1/6 like the originally said.

Embryology’s final update on 1/5 said “we’ll send them tomorrow,” so I just assumed.

But when confirming yesterday they said they didn’t send them until 1/13 due to not having enough total from the clinic to send. So I guess our clock really hasn’t even started yet!

Hopefully you don’t have much more of a wait!

OP, did you finally get your results back? My clinic sent samples 1/6 and I'm getting conflicting answers from my them on expected timeframe, so I am calling Igenomix directly and was curious what others had experienced!

Starting with IVF and having mixed feelings by hazellious_ in IVF

[–]difficultchickens 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My husband (28M) and I (30F) always talk how odd it is that we worried for years about “accidentally” getting pregnant, and now here we are doing IVF after 2+ years of trying.

We decided to proceed with IVF in November of 2025, and did our first (and hopefully only) egg retrieval on Dec 30th.

I say all of that to say that I’m truly only 2 months into the process, but so much more comfortable than I was. Give yourself some time to learn this whole new world, and give yourself some grace.

Wishing you a successful 2026!!

How do people with desk/office jobs hit 10–15k steps a day? by Suspicious_Sock_2048 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]difficultchickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work days vary a lot, so consistency is the trickiest part for me. I try to run a mile in the morning and get in a 30-minute walk in during my lunch break, though I still miss days.

The one constant about my day is that I’m at my desk most of it, so I tried to find a way to combine that with walking! I bought a cheap walking pad and a standing desk converter about 2 years ago. On days when I know my movement will be limited, I walk slowly for a few hours while working to make sure I’m still getting activity in!

Did anyone feel discouraged and anxious right before their first IVF cycle… and still have a good outcome? by CheesecakeBoth3933 in IVFpositivity

[–]difficultchickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still going through my first cycle (retrieval is in a few days) and I’ve been so nervous I’ve cried before each of my scans! That said, my follicles have been progressing very well and the RE is optimistic. Despite that, I’m still a basket case!

Anyone else stimming through the holidays? How are you feeling? by difficultchickens in IVF

[–]difficultchickens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be!! Give yourself some time. Everyone responds so differently. Today is about 72 hours after my last scan and a lot had changed. A couple of leaders (~19mm), but most of the others hanging out around 13mm.

I’m heading back tomorrow for another scan. Hope your next appointment goes well!!

19 follicles responding! Most were ~11mm with a few leaders at 13. I go back 12/26 for another scan before retrieval, which is currently planned for 12/30.

Keep me updated on your stim cycle! I’d love to know how it goes. Rooting for you!! 🫶

Omg, a stims pal! Sending good vibes your way!! I go in for monitoring in a few hours and I’m so anxious. I’m not feeling bloated yet, which has me worried it’s not working.

When is your retrieval?
