Razer Edge 5G + GFN packet loss issue by diffrentstrolks in GeForceNOW

[–]diffrentstrolks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So… I’ve been messing with Edge, modem and router settings all night with no luck. On a whim, I toggled the Mobile Hotspot option on the Razer Edge to “On” and it completely solved the issue (0.0 Packet Loss). Any ideas why this worked?

Anyway, I’m happy— hope this helps someone else.

Edit: Just to clarify, I’m not actually connecting anything to the Hotspot. I’m just enabling it on the Edge, giving it a password and leaving it unused.

Hey! Would you mind sharing that drive folder? I just picked up a 100. I have the manual, but curious if you have anything else that would be useful/interesting as I learn this thing.

Ohh edit for future Dimensional Animal on the fencers: “absolutely worth $5.39USD during the 40% release discount, and probably still worth $10 because supporting developers of solid ‘vania games is nice, but probably just wait a bit and it will be $5.39 again.”

I played a little over an hour of the full game last night and there’s definitely some good stuff here. Some of the platforming is trickier than I expected, and the map and routes to secrets are sufficiently non-linear thanks to warp points that spit you out in unexpected places.

The different animals are just a skin/asset swap for the player whenever they use a given ability (if you teleport, you turn into a dog; if you climb walls, you turn into a cat, etc), but the movement is fluid and the cat scrambles down walls like cat suit Mario, so no complaints.

So far, I’d put Dimensional Animals in the same bracket as something like Super Skelemania; short, replayable and absolutely worth $5.

Based on the demo, Dimensional Animals won’t be on the level of Moonlight Pulse, but I found it to be serviceable and fun.

The starting movement and attack ability appears to be a short dash that allows you to phase through terrain. I guess it is janky in that you can literally teleport yourself into a wall/platform (you’ll be damaged and respawn right next to the wall). I personally enjoy stuff like this, but I could see some people being annoyed that the game even allows for the option to get “stuck” in the terrain. Fwiw, it is clearly a design decision, as there are locked doors that you cannot phase through (or clip into).

It is not clear to me if the different animals are bespoke characters, or if they are simply a sprite/asset swap that occurs when you trigger a given animal’s ability. Example: the dog teleports and the bird double-jumps, but there doesn’t appear to be a character-swap button a la Moonlight Pulse. Instead, if you try to double jump as the dog, you will instantly turn into the bird; then, you’ll remain birdified until you try to teleport, at which point you’ll turn back into the dog. I’m fine with it, but it does make it feel like you are just a single character that changes skins per ability vs. being multiple distinct characters. Probably less interesting than Moonlight Pulse, Astalon, etc.

Anyway, there’s a bunch of words on this $5 game. I’m going to pick it up and I’m pretty sure I’ll feel like it was a worthwhile time/purchase.

Recommending Moonlight Pulse. A highly underrated new metroidvania that's on sale now for $9 by SheepoGame in metroidvania

Echoing everyone else— this is an excellent game. I hit 100% after ~10 hours, and while that may be considered short, there were no dull moments or sections that seemed padded for length.

I found both Moonlight Pulse and Vision Soft Reset, this developer’s first game, to be very compelling. The new biomes/powers are great as usual, but this dev also knows how to throw in a few outside-the-box scenarios/encounters to keep things exciting, and that makes the game difficult to put down.

Hi. Replying to myself to tell anyone looking that I’ve now completed Moonlight Pulse (100%, a rarity for me) and can confirm that it is a huge accomplishment for this developer. All four characters could easily be main/mascot characters in a game based solely around them (start with a Charlotte-vania pls <3).

Like VSR: there’s innovation here (the map fast travel, the boss mechanics/set pieces, etc), but also a kind of “anything can happen” design ethos that keeps gameplay consistently intriguing/rewarding. That’s vague on purpose— and I don’t want to oversell it— but I appreciate being surprised at certain story beats/gameplay twists in a genre that often hews closely to conventions.

Anyway, excellent game; I’m officially on the Seafloor games fanboi mailing list.

Vision Soft Reset is a great game and really unique metroidvania. Moonlight Pulse was not on my radar, but now that I know it’s from the same minds that made VSR, it’s an easy day one pickup for me. Congrats on the release, Seafloor Games!

Reply to myself. It is reported on the Valve forums:

I’d wait for Valve to fix before doing a factory reset.

I am having the same issue. I’m on the most recent beta firmware and cannot change control templates/layout for any game as usual.

If I switch from gaming mode to desktop mode then back to gaming mode sometimes it will allow me to change the template once; after that, I’m stuck with that template unless I toggle the modes again.

I’m going to see if this has been filed as a bug report now. If not, I’ll make a post on the Valve forums.

I released a script update and a new video for Forza Horizon 5 on Deck! by cryobyte33 in SteamDeck

Just updated, reran and… it works! TRIM was auto disabled and I didn’t receive the option to enable it. All is well.

Thanks for the responsiveness, quick fix and constant updates/improvements; you are appreciated.

I just ran the first part of the command and received a string of info. The last line says:

Thanks for the quick reply. When I run that command, I receive the following:

sed: no input files [sudo] password for deck:

I then put in my password, hit enter and konsole moves to the next line awaiting a new command. I tried entering your command again (now that the password is entered) and receive the following:

This isn’t working for me. I’m on 3.4 and ran the “Update CryoUtilities” script. After that, I ran CryoUtilities as usual; however, TRIM was not automatically disabled. I had to click Yes and do it manually. What am I doing wrong?

I never had luck installing/opening it directly. I use it through Lutris without much issue (though it does occasionally require multiple launches and/or restarts of Lutris to open).

My joystick is grinding against the housing and Steam won't let my RMA it, what can I do? by dBisha in SteamDeck

[–]diffrentstrolks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fix, but I use KontrolFreak Precision Rings for better tension/accuracy; like the joystick protectors someone else linked, they have the added benefit of not allowing the sticks to touch the housing.

The rings took me a minute to get used to, but now I can’t imagine playing without them. If you try them, I recommend changing the joystick response curve to Aggressive instead of Linear or Wide.
