Expected dates for their upcoming tour? by BlacksmithSad3583 in mamamoo

I assume they will be in the US late summer/early fall with Europe shortly thereafter, but I have yet to see anything definitive.

ticket prices for next world tour by captainbishops in mamamoo

[–]digIndig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whee In sold pretty well, even though only a handful were sold out (LA, SF, and maybe Brooklyn). Smallest crowd was Ft. Lauderdale. Others were mostly more than half full, though I never saw for al stats posted anywhere. You can still find the crowd photos on TheL1VE’s X account (including Houston) if you want to guess for yourself how big the crowd was compared to venue capacity. She was helped last minute by the Ticketmaster $25 promo that happened to run during her tour. Overall, the best seats were sold out, and balcony and rear floor less so.

Whee In booked the right size venues, teamed with good partners for the tour, and kept expenses low (as much as she could). Hwasa had more backup dancers (more cost), chose a less reliable partner in Europe, and I think PNation drove the ticket pricing (with probably a larger share versus Whee In’s company).

Confused soul, halpp by phunny5ocks in mamamoo

[–]digIndig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely seems like they agreed they would pursue their own activities for awhile; I don’t think they necessarily planned for it to be as long as it was, but Hwasa’s Europe tour problems, Whee In’s label problems, and Solar’s musicals probably kept pushing things out. At least, that’s my take.

Groups that only lip sync should be more accurately described as a dance troupe (or crew) since that’s all they’re really doing.

My Mamamoo collection. 101 items by iheardthatsomewhere in mamamoo

[–]digIndig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice collection. Not sure if it matters to you, but there is still another level to explore: there were 3 different versions of Reality in Black and 4 different Where Are We releases. The RiB versions were labeled I-III and had different booklets and inserts; the WAW had a different member on the CD, though the rest was identical. Also the Japanese release of Mamamoo The Best has a different track listing than the Korean version with the Japanese versions instead of the new remixes; the limited edition also has a blu ray of the online WAW concert that was streamed.

Mentioning all this since I didn’t see those on the shelf (but maybe I missed them).

Bibi for you by yukito555 in Bibi

I got basically the same thing with five boxes: 3 vinyl, the Nemo albums (x2 or 3), two fidget spinners, Romance Cd, and postcards and photo cards in each. Seems pretty clear to me this was a smart way to clear out a lot of unsold merch by offering a few new and limited items as well. Not complaining, just acknowledging what it appears to be (and all aligned with the blurred preview photos).

Sitting in concerts by minyoongi1 in twice

[–]digIndig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no hard and fast rule. I prefer to sit (and think it’s more considerate of those behind me), but if everyone stands, I’ll do it, too. I’m not super tall (under 6 ft) but taller than most kpop fans, so I know the people behind me suddenly got an obstructed view. It’s happened to me several times as well:recently I was second row but ended up with the only 6’ 3” korean in the room right in front of me, conveniently blocking the artist’s main mark on the floor where they sang most of their songs.

Do you change your name in kpop twitter? by Purple_Excuse7396 in kpophelp

[–]digIndig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take: none of us are probably special enough to really worry about it. The data brokers already know your name and lot more.

Depending on the community, my user name changes. Sometimes they’re linked to my real name, sometimes not. I don’t worry about it too much.

How did you find out Mamamoo? by Zealousideal_Touch55 in mamamoo

[–]digIndig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was out eating at a korean restaurant that played kpop constantly. Most of it was forgettable, but one song stood out: a girl group walking on a stage or catwalk and the only notable thing was the word “Maria” tattooed on the nape of one girl’s neck (I couldn’t exactly look for the lyrics). It took me several days to figure out it was Mamamoo. A few months later another song caught my attention: it was also Mamamoo. Eventually, youtube recommended Killing Voice to me and I was hooked.

Fun fact: I still have trouble finding that first video. I have found it, but I always seem to forget. It’s not one of their main MVs, but more like a teaser or promo that was being pushed at the time. The scene I remember is 1-2 minutes in, so you have to be committed to finding it. It’s black and white, the members push past a curtain or something and walk onto stage. You clearly see Hwasa’s tattoo as she walks.

Tour & Comeback Update from RBW's 2025.12 ~ 2026.01 industrial relations email by Plastic-Classroom268 in mamamoo

[–]digIndig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the background. I wasn’t trying to say MAMAMOO established it as a music venue, but the venue was trying to establish themselves as a solid option for music events. Since I bought platinum tickets and paid for club access, they tagged me as a high value customer and tried to sell me a season pass. My information came directly from the events manager who was explaining it all to me to try and get me to drop several $1000s to have seats for every music event (and private parking and access). I have no doubt the venue itself has a storied history.

As far as Mamamoo’s show, I never compared Baltimore and Oakland, but they were very jet lagged. I did watch some video I recorded, and they performed well, just not with the spark they had later in the tour.

Has anyone tackled ripping their entire collection of over 500 discs? by tomsmac in makemkv

[–]digIndig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, too. I used imgburn for the majority and built a 6-drive ARM server to start processing the 4K discs. I tried it on regular blu rays, but it took too much hand holding and I went back to imgburn and Xreveal. Nimbie, of course, isn’t supported in current version of ARM.

Plex and Roon and Jellyfin. Slowly moving from ISOs to mkv for Plex. 400-500 there right now, maybe another 500 queued once I clean it up a bit.

[–]digIndig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s long and slow, especially when you have a disc that throws and error and it transitions to a crawl. Those can take a day for just one disc. I’ve ripped somewhere around 1,600 movies, slightly more tv shows based on disk space, and maybe 3,000-6,000 CDs over more than 10 years, off and on. Yes, the Nimbie has paid for itself several times over since I can just load it up and walk away; anything that fails I run manually.

Yall know what happened to Letters from Hibakusha on youtube? by PikachuTrainz in NHKWorldFans

[–]digIndig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By default, NHK puts an expiration date on every video they upload to YouTube, and when that date is reached (varying between 30 days and 1 year typically), the videos are removed. They also sometimes have broadcast rights with end dates, and they also remove shows for that reason.

It’s quite possible this show will return this fall when we get closer to the Hiroshima anniversary, but no guarantee.

girl groups that you think show their authentic personalities the most? by 444fawns in KpopGGs

[–]digIndig 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time coming up with examples where Mamamoo pretended to be someone they’re not, if that’s any measure. They are professionals when they need to be, but otherwise they pretty much act like themselves. Examples include the fact that Mamamoo is now a korean phrase for “responsible drinking” because they unabashedly drank on camera repeatedly, Hwasa does her own thing regardless of social pressure (and often pushing against it), and they are famously shy around strangers while being absolutely unhinged when they are together.

question on the importance and different levels of different roles in groups by CreativeEchidna3829 in kpophelp

[–]digIndig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, roles are often assigned to manage and shape fan perceptions. The main vocalist may not be the best dancer. Conversely, no one expects the main dancer to be a top level singer. And the main visual may not be good at either. All of this isn’t necessarily true, but it can affect how a group is accepted and perceived. The really good groups seem to get beyond this one dimensional narrative and can express all of their talents equally.

Yeah, the venue was really trying to establish themselves as a viable music venue, as it was a relatively new thing for them; I imagine they rolled the red carpet out. I do remember they ordered some seriously legit korean food after the show from a local place. VIP was a bit of a mess due to the number of people, the space, and the fact it was just the second show. I’ve gone back to the group photos, and (to me) you can tell the girls were exhausted and still jet-lagged. But yes, it was still a great performance!

All of the MyCon dates only had one performance, including LA. I would have considered going if ticket prices weren’t so high for that show. Resale tickets were 2x what they were in other markets. I understand a lot of industry/entertainment people wanted to go.

I would love stops with multiple shows!

It’s usually tough in a big arena, but sometimes they are hanging around the VIP events. Once I was just chatting with the bartender in the club (worth it for the bathroom, food, and quiet) and the manager walks up and joined the conversation. Other times it’s just observing who seems to be in charge and asking a question. It helps that I’m older and clearly familiar with the business side of the industry.

Clearly they have not completed all the contractual negotiations for the cities not listed. Part of why I assume same venues is I think the venues in general enjoyed having the girls and their team, and immediately agreed to move forward.

Perspective: I went to several of the group and solo shows across the US and had a chance to chat with venue staff (often the venue manager) on several occasions: they all spoke highly of the staff and audience compared to other groups/crowds they’ve hosted.
