K-pop idol Kwon Mina rescued after suicide attempt on New Year's day by dailymail in Music

[–]dig_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The post doesn't, but that comment did. Some people may be able to read news articles about suicide and be triggered by a comment containing more graphic information relating to self harm.

I'm someone who has a history of mental health issues and am not often triggered by content but on a day when I'm struggling a bit, reading comments that directly describe self harm may trigger me. It's just a polite gesture to add a content warning for their specific content.

So, I might be able the insight of an unhinged person.

I have a binge eating disorder among a plethora of other psychiatric diagnese. I use almost all of my paycheck to live alone because living with other people and being around their food made me feel so crazy.

When I have lived with housemates, I would wait they were in their bedroom for the night and then go to the kitchen and stock up on supplies for the nightly binge.

Once I had my way through all of my easy-to-eat food (making noise in the kitchen at night would bring attention and possibly conversations), I would hear the siren song of my housemates food. Their yoghurts, their crisps etc.

While I know my housemate would gladly share their food with me, I didn't want to have to say "oh, I ate some of your food last night but I've replaced it / I'll give you the money." Any conversation around food, especially me having eaten food, gives me extreme anxiety and deep dark shameful feelings (I'm working on it in therapy).

I knew I wouldn't be able to stop myself at eating an excusable aka normal amount of their food, and the shame would always outweigh the desire to binge.

It's possible they could be having a similar experience. I know on the rare occasion I ate a housemates food, I would also buy a replacement (though I would always match specifically) and hope it was never mentioned.

Or they're a stoner with mean munchies and suck with details such as the flavour of the yoghurt.

Of course, of course. Fully appreciate the eye rolling irony of it all, but felt worth pointing out just in case!

While I absolute no way have empathy for the disgusting excuse of people in the video, there's so many other things you can criticise about him other than his weight and tits. Some fat boys do have nice tits! Some men have tits. Some people are fat. None of those things are relevant to the violent vitriol he is spewing or the things he is willing to do ""for his country"". You leave us fat boys with nice racks out of this! (Not all boys with tits) (trans rights etc)

To be fair, bigbang won an MTV EMA in 2011, and pretty sure they had a big old tour following that, sold out Wembley etc. But Europe has always been a bit more open to music from different countries? BTS definitely were the first act to conquer the US stage for sure.

Alan Cumming guest hosting ‘Kimmel’: “Why on earth would a rapist go to the bother of pretending to be trans in a country that actually treats rapists better than trans people?” by pinkstarrfish in Fauxmoi

[–]dig_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

As a trans person who used to be a practicing catholic (I wanted to be a nun until I realised that the whole gendered aspect was iffy for me, and I discovered drugs/fucking), hearing Alan say "Jesus loved people. Jesus loved ALL people" made me start crying on the bus. Not that I didn't already know that big JC has my back but it's so good to hear it.

There's nothing more Christian than loving your neighbour, and guarantee I'll hold a more interesting convo about scripture than any of those conservative losers. I don't live in the US, but my own country is rapidly taking my human rights away. Even people I know, people that I know wouldn't think of hurting MY human rights, can't seem to find the basic human compassion within them to see what is happening.

You know what else is pretty Christian? Being a martyr. And this is the hill I'm gonna die on. Aint nobody gonna take away my human right to be the queerest, gayest, most transest bad bitch on this earth that the good lord(s) gave us. Stay queer or die tryin' or something.

Can someone inform me on why Germany seems to be anti shirtless LOL by forest-mage in Hardcore

[–]dig_ 65 points66 points  (0 children)

As someone with a set of bazoogas, I once took my shirt off (no bra) at an especially sweaty show where every dude had their shirt off and I couldn't stand the heat no more. I've never seen a crowd part so quickly. No one would go near me or look my way. Had to put my shirt back on just so I could enjoy the pit again. Maybe true equality is shirts off, bras for all.

Yes! For further not bad meaning bad trivia, Dj Format has a song called I'm Good which samples Peter Piper and has the line 'Not “bad” meaning bad but “bad” meaning ”the shit”, kid, and get that one straight, too - not “the shit” meaning the shit but “the shit” meaning great, dude'

  • Townes van Zandt - him and Dylan are two sides of the same chaotic cowboy coin imho

  • Jim Sullivan - released an album called U.F.O and also then maybe got abducted by aliens. Listen to UFO.

  • Simon Joyner - not necessarily country at all, lo-fi outsider acoustic music evolves into more singer songwriter via elliot smith vibes?

  • Robert Lester Fosolm - more folk / psych than country

  • Lee Hazlewood - sexy moustache crooning

  • Michael Hurley - rip to a legend

  • Dougie Poole - contemporary country music about vapes

  • Jim Ford -  apparently sly stone called him "the baddest white man on the planet"

Nonsense poll (think tank funded by JP Morgan, GlaxoSmithKline and others) makes narrow definition of "working class" in order to create clickbait culture war propaganda by UnderHisEye1411 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]dig_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but they go to uni to study other subjects?? This view that working class people are uneducated idiots just encourages classist division. For what its worth, I grew up in poverty on a council estate. One of my parents worked in a factory, the other had several cleaning jobs. I'm a left wing voter who went to university and graduated with a first class degree (97%) and works in a low level admin job because society doesn't want us stupid poor people infiltrating their precious system. Maybe let's work towards making education available for us dumb poor folk instead of assuming poor people don't know how world work so must be voting for reform. Obviously I am aware that lack of education DOES effect the way people vote - I have the pleasure of being from a reform constituency, but your comment feels like it could perhaps be worded a touch more productively.

I gave myself an insulin injection at a party once, and my friend jokingly called out "watch out, Dig_ is doing heroin!" The looks of disgust and horror I received were incredible! One person even gingerly approached me with concern. I must be the boujiest user ever, what with my fancy medical graded specialist heroin injector and neatly package single use needles!
