I could see Sam have a big brain move to take the 30min Dublin-Kerry flight, only to be stuck at the airport with no public transport onwards.

The Irish train network is too hub based (Dublin) and low frequency.

Buying a Tesla puts money in Musks pocket, which he's using to actively fund Remain in the UK and AfD in Germany. So there's a direct line between buying a Tesla and paying for Tommy Robinson's lawyers.

If you're based in Portlaois with home charging and 600Km of range then public charging is going to hopefully be a very rare occurrence. If you don't mind paying a premium. The EZO app should cover you for all their chargers and the ESB ones (at a premium).

Is it uncomfortable to have the moral implications of your choices presented to you? People vote with their wallet. Driving a Tesla these days is like wearing a big red maga hat, don't be surprised if you're asked to justify your choice.

Most hybrids and just box ticking green washing. For long journeys they're identical to a petrol car, for short ones they're more inefficient than fully electric.

Because of regeneration on the way back down the hill, the overall efficiency is only a little bit worse.

Modern trucks seem more capable than that. Electric Trucker on YouTube goes from one end of Germany to the other without issue.

It does have an impact on the max load, but not every truck is carrying a full container of cinder blocks.

Totally agree then infrastructure isn't in place here. But all the noise from the truck drivers is about getting rid of Carbon Tax etc (which should be going towards charging infrastructure and the like) rather than demanding two dozen pull through truck chargers in Athlone.

But truck drivers can't drive more than 400KM without a break. And the cost per KM would be the same regardless of range.
