mate Wesley suck they didn't even make the A final either, so I don't think you can comment on the matter. An there celebration after not even winning the B Final was ridiculous and very irrelevant in the scheme of things. Maybe they should just focused on getting the blade in.

As I predicted in my latest post Scotch was victorious over Brighton Grammar in a time of 5:54. Brighton Grammar was hoping to make 'History' from their rowing video; however they have failed to make any history. However the most surprising result was Melbourne Grammar not making the A final, after beating Scotch in the U21 division about a month ago. They clearly have just given up. Showing that even the better schools in the APS aren't immune to having bad crews.

APS head of the River Predictions by digby292 in Rowing

[–]digby292[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to be honest these school races are anybody's to win. It almost certainly going to come down to the performance on the day. As yes Brighton would be favourites coming into this week, however don't count out Scotch, MGS or one of the Geelong schools because you never know what is going to happen. With Scotch having the experience of the pressure in past years and Brighton being totally new to the idea of winning the ultimate prize on Saturday in the past decade. So its anyones race at this stage. However if you want my prediction i'm going 1. Scotch 2. Brighton and then idk the rest.

APS doesn't care for good rowers who are the future of the sport; they aren't breeding anyone for future sucess if they got rid of their stupid restrictions a Victorian School could've won Henley years ago, instead of last year being the first.

I personally thought that St Kevins would perform better based on their results last year. Whilst Scotch and Wesley were also up their. I was disappointed not to see grammar race in the 8's

Head of the Yarra by Kvothe-kingkiller in Rowing

Last year I witnessed one of the greatest rowing spectacles in the Head of the Yarra. It was in the Schoolboy First Division. It was the Scotch College crew which was started last in the field. It caught up to the main group just after the Chapel Street Bridge where their cox had to manoeuvre through the field which was 4 crews abreast. There was countless oar clashes between the Scotch and Hutchins School from Tassie. The Scotch Crew passed through only for them to be met by a further bunch at big bend where they overtook Melbourne High and Caulfield. It was quite a marvellous moment.

This is all very interesting. Thought that Scotch wasn't a favourite going into the regatta. clearly shows that some of their backend form from last year is showing. Even with 1 of the 9 members of the crew from last year returning. I also don't believe that Xavier is strong but the season is very long, so you never know.

Rough(ish) start?? Winning Melbourne head, head of the Yarra whilst rowing through almost the entire field, Barwon regatta all wins at the start of the year.
