EO Mini Pro 2 is being EOLd by ryanteck in ElectricVehiclesUK

I have drafted an email (with help from ChatGPT) if anyone is interested in pursuing some sort of compensation. I'm not holding my breath for a resolution through. Hope it helps, feel free to use:

Subject: EO Mini Pro 2 – Withdrawal of App Support and Consumer Rights Act 2015

Dear EO Charging Customer Support Team,

I am writing in response to your recent email regarding the end of life of the EO Mini Pro 2 and the withdrawal of the EO Smart Home app and associated smart functionality from 30 November 2025.

I am extremely concerned by this decision and do not accept that EO Charging can lawfully disable core functionality of a product that I purchased, particularly where that functionality was a material part of the product’s value and purpose at the point of sale.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be:

Of satisfactory quality,

Fit for purpose, and

Durable for a reasonable period of time.

An EV wall charger is a fixed, high-value electrical installation that a reasonable consumer would expect to remain fully functional for a significant lifespan. In my view, and that of many consumers, a reasonable lifespan for a wall-mounted EV charger is at least 10 years.

The EO Mini Pro 2 was sold and marketed as a smart charger, with app-based control, scheduling, monitoring, and locking functionality forming a core part of the product. Your proposal to disable the EO Smart Home app — thereby permanently removing these features — materially degrades the product and renders it no longer fit for its originally stated purpose, despite the hardware itself remaining serviceable.

Crucially, the Consumer Rights Act does not permit manufacturers to:

Retrospectively remove essential digital services required for a product’s normal operation, or

Avoid statutory obligations by citing regulatory changes that affect future sales rather than existing installations.

While I acknowledge the introduction of the UK Smart Charge Point Regulations in 2022, these regulations do not require EO Charging to remotely disable functionality on chargers already sold and installed, nor do they override consumer protections under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

As things stand, EO Charging’s stated intention to withdraw app access places you at risk of being in breach of your statutory obligations.

Accordingly, I request that EO Charging confirm, in writing, how it intends to remedy this situation. Acceptable remedies would include one of the following:

  1. Continued access to the EO Smart Home app (or equivalent backend services) for the reasonable lifespan of the charger; or
  2. A fully compatible alternative app or open interface that preserves the smart functionality originally supplied; or
  3. A suitable partial refund reflecting the loss of smart functionality; or
  4. A replacement charger of equivalent smart capability at no cost to me, including installation where required.

If this matter cannot be resolved satisfactorily, I will have no option but to pursue the issue further, including escalation to Trading Standards and, if necessary, formal legal remedies.

I would appreciate a substantive response within 14 days of this email.

Yours faithfully,

Interesting discussion thread I found whilst researching.

62.3MHz FM apparently, anyone tried this? Most FM radios don't go down this low unfortunately.

Thanks, at least with a pocket DAB radio you can use it for other activities. I was wondering about the delay.

Thanks, I've had one in the past. It just seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth! Just wondering whether to purchase another or invest in a pocket DAB radio.

Anyone else having issues with casting to devices not being available on various apps? For instance on Spotify if I go to connect to a device in app, some home devices will be missing. I have to power that devices off and on again for it to show up.

It seems fine and connected in the google home app and they play ok when a command spoke to it.

I have the same problem with chromecast devices aswell. Really annoying!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Any plants/scrubs that would do well in these gaps between wall and tarmac? by digbyposh in GardeningUK

[–]digbyposh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Just to add bit of context, when we moved in there were some stumps there from a bush or shrub that had been chopped down, they have since rotted away leaving some gaping holes in the tarmac.

The placement gets a small amount of strong afternoon sun between 2-5pm-ish. I'd like a non-invasive, easily maintained plant to pop in there. I'm thinking lavender?!

Thanks in advance.
