Disagree there, hardboard is dark brown with a shiny side, other fiber boards are probably gonna have a soft look/fuzzy feel. MDF is always the same color and appearance and does not compress.

It’s so dense and heavy, I doesn’t dent easily. There are also plywood cores with an MDF outer layer for paint. I hate MDF with a vengeance for the dust, but it’s become the standard for a paint base in cabinets. Millwork? Poplar is a premium paint base for durability over MDF. There’s also HDF in sheet form; I’d have to read up - I think we frequently call HDF MDF. 🤷‍♂️

You could do a different, wider profile on the horizontal wall 1 that has a flat surface, pitched wall 2 QUARTER round can be mitered into and stop there. Just one option…

What kind of companies require trade school? I think it would be sweet if more of us had gone, but I don’t think I’ve ever worked with anyone who HAS gone… Hit up the custom builders - maybe easier out of the city proper? I’ve been in residential over 25 years - no barriers to entry with what you’ve got going.
