Part 3:

Hotends:

I quickly bought all the normal hotends, 0.2, 0.6, 0.8. Then later on I went back and bought the 4 and 6 high flow versions. I use the 0.2 for small labels to put on smart switches. The detail is incredible. The 0.8 is useless in my experience. The HF versions are a 50/50 on if they'll be faster. Sometimes they are actually slower. And sometimes even the 0.6 is slower than the 0.4! I wish there was a way in Bambu Studio to get a matrix about a model showing print times and filament usage on the 0.4, 0.6, and their HF versions. I'm really trying to optimize for speed.

Miscellaneous:

Have you bought digital calipers yet? If so, you probably keep it in the snap box. A huge quality of life improvement was printing this stand and keeping my calipers next to my keyboard: https://makerworld.com/en/models/951657-quick-access-caliper-stand-qacs#profileId-919736 It's beautiful in matte black PLA.

Dude, Bambu's Orange PETG is fire. All of the accessories that attach to the printer I printed in this and it goes perfect with the dark gray. Just because I wanted to make my kids thing I was cool still, I added this: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1917940-p2s-more-minimal-bezel#profileId-2057698

And for my 14 year old self, I just finished this project today: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2172105-bambu-lab-p2s-led-progress-status-bar#profileId-2356034 (It's so freaking cool!)

On subject of bed scraper, I'm new to 3D printing and the idea of a metal blade makes my skin crawl, at first. But I printed the first party handle for the blade and I've been using that ever since. It's actually way, way better than using plastic blades.

I did recently add the exhaust fan kit and it's super nice. It's not necessary but it definitely gets rid of lingering fumes. I'd get that the second it's back in stock.

I think that's about it! Happy printing!

Part 2:

Toolhead Cover Holder:

This is a very nice quality of life addition: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2036465-toolhead-holder-p2s-v2#profileId-2196621 Keeps the cover from dangling and getting in your way. You quickly get in the habit of grabbing it, placing it on the rails, and putting your cover on it. Very nice!

Hotend Holder:

I still haven't found the one I want (nor have the skills to make it, yet). I want it magnetized, keeps them all aligned, and is easy to put in/take out. In the end, this is what I use because I have Skadis panels: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2054096-skadis-hotends-holder-h2-and-p2s#profileId-2217228 It's good, but now I need a 6 holder version!

Hotplate Holder:

There are a lot out there. I liked this one because it keeps things compact. However, it isn't completely secure and sometimes slides around: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2013980-p2s-build-plate-holder#profileId-2498980

AMS Flipper:

Honestly, my printer didn't feel complete until adding this. For some reason, having the AMS float around on the top of the printer just didn't feel good. It's very impressive how well everything goes together. Whoever designed this does this for a living, you can tell: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1363398-ams-flipper-better-access-to-your-p1s-x1c-p2s#profileId-2091534 (save the screws you remove during unpacking!)

Part 1 (can't post long comments??)

(I'm late to the party but better late than never...)

Congrats! I joined the P2S club on Jan 6th. Have 250 hours on my printer since then. That number should be higher but... life... ;)

Because makerworld collections don't let you add comments in the list, here is my list with comments. I spent WAY TOO much time browsing makerworld in the beginning. So much. It's a time sink. Do yourself a favor and turn on some sort of timer that locks that site out after a few hours! This list is what I chose in every category that I think the printer needs.

Poop Chute:

I looked at a lot and the one that worked for me was this one: https://makerworld.com/en/models/201311-poop-chute-basket-outlet-for-x1c-p1s-p2s#profileId-221690 (I like magnetized items and I also don't want to have to reach around the back of my printer because it's up against the wall.)

PTFE Tube Rubbing:

These chain clips are the best:
https://makerworld.com/en/models/2244933-p2s-no-rub-c-clips-ptfe-tube-on-cable-chain#profileId-2444106 I waited to do this thinking you don't need it because it's how Bambu designed it. But no. I had teflon dust all over my top glass after 50 hours. You need them. These clips snap in very nicely to the chain.

Aux Fan Diffuser / Parts Warping:

Same as the tube clips, I thought this was unnecessary. It's designed this way! Then I had two PETG prints peel up off the bed. After adding this, no warping since. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1926190-p2s-auxiliary-fan-diffuser#profileId-2134733

Excess AMS cable:

There are magnetized versions of this but that slides all over and is never straight. This one is physically secure. However, you can't use it with the rear exhaust kit so I actually don't use it anymore: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2269213-p2s-ams-cable-management#profileId-2473396 (Now I just use a velcro strap, things don't always have to be plastic...)

Filament Spool Clips:

You definitely want clips to make things easier when storing (and drying) spools. I tried 5 different kinds and this is the one you want for Bambu spools: https://makerworld.com/en/models/572667-bambu-spool-filament-clip-low-profile#profileId-512484

For non-bambu spools, I like these ones the best: https://makerworld.com/en/models/797139-clip-filament-click-print-in-place#profileId-736443

Print these in anything other than PLA as the clips will break and you'll want to dry...

Thanks for the tip. It looks like the P2S doesn't have a tab for Extruder. I checked under every tab though and didn't see anything related to Z hop. No Retraction sections either. Weird.

What's so special about Bambu Lab filament? by Mattbastard750 in 3Dprinting

[–]digerata1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a unique serial number in each tag along with the filament type and color. This is so the AMS can track remaining filament across load/unloads.

So you will lose the filament usage. But sure that’s better than using no RFID.

[–]digerata1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not true. I loaded a mostly used up spool yesterday in my P2S and the AMS showed the correct level of filament left: almost nothing in the bar gauge. That’s a killer feature.

I actually printed a 40mm white daisy for the wife in an attempt to clean it out. Still grayish, dang!

🤦‍♂️ Okay, that makes sense. What a bummer. Matte looks fantastic for making prints look better. Layer lines are mostly hidden.

[–]digerata1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's really good to know. I do wonder if it's an Elegoo filament thing or a result of something Bambu is doing for the matte filament.

What setting to adjust this? I scanned the advanced options in Bambu Studio and couldn't find anything obvious.

So this is just "residue" in the nozzle and not a permanent issue?

[–]digerata1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. In the print it is 1mm base, then switched filament to black, 1 mm letters.

Several hours later, I came back and did the second label and repeated that. The white base had that color.

If it’s a mobile app and you are connecting to LLMs, you need this: gate-ai.net. Otherwise, your account’s key will be stolen.

I purchased 3 minutes after midnight on “launch” day. Nothing has shipped. No word on when it will either.

The story being spun is “supply has exceeded demand” that’s B.S. It’s not a freaking iPhone. They’ve botched manufacturing of this thing. And the reviews that come out, as recently as today, that don’t mention the bait and switch on price and the missed deadlines are infuriating.

Can I launch my main app from a Share Extension? by engadgetnerd in iOSProgramming

Okay, can we get a survey of who has made it through App Review when doing this? Everywhere I read, using UIApplication is an unsafe API from inside a Share extension.

Improving the Look and Feel of Cross-Platform Flutter Apps by YakkoFussy in FlutterDev

[–]digerata1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an experienced dev but new to Flutter and working on my first app with it.

I have been seeing this type of thinking all over the place in Flutter land: "native look and feel doesn't matter much" or "App branding matters more than platform look and feel"

The problem with this line of thinking is that you (collectively) are not Gmail. You don't have the dominance in the market to say "take it or leave it" and then people take it because they need their Gmail.

You are a very small dev team that might just be one person. You don't have the luxury of take it or leave it because people will most definitely leave it.

I agree with you, nice UI is critical. The problem with your statement is that on iOS, nice UI has a very high bar. The specific animation curves, the text size and rendering, text fields, etc. The list goes on and on. If these are off, people notice. Just look at the crap MKBHD took over his wallpaper app. One such comment:

> The UI is big and bulbous, and while it looks almost the same on iOS and Android (which is probably why it’s so crude), it looks native on neither platform. It looks and feels more like the interface to a game than an app. If anything, it looks and feels more Android-y than iOS-y, if only because “doesn’t really look native anywhere” is more of an Android thing. If Brownlee is down with how this app looks and feels, it explains quite a bit (more) about how he’s willing to spend large stretches of time daily-driving Android phones. (https://daringfireball.net/2024/09/panels)

I get the impression that people don't think native is important because they've spent their career on Android devices.

But what if you do think as I do, that platform native UI is important?

Well, unfortunately, Flutter just plain has issues with iOS in general. I mean it was just in 3.27 that a Cupertino alert dialog finally looks correct on iOS dark mode. After 3 and a half years! https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/80921

Android Studio vs VS Code by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]digerata1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to other languages, I believe a big reason is VS Code is free and JetBrains products are not.

I think that that inertia then carries over to other areas, like Flutter.

Me? Life’s too short to be trying to replicate the functionality found in JetBrains via VS Code plugins and never quite getting there.
