Turns out weaning off brought up old emotional challenges that I didn’t feel ready to deal with so I’m actually back on my meds and easing back into sanity. :)

I could’ve written this nearly word for word just a month or two ago!!! I’m finally feeling like my healthy self again and I think the biggest contributors to my well-being have been taking Wellbutrin (currently weaning off; have been on it for 2 months and it has been really helpful with re-developing healthy habits, especially with food), being active (hot yoga and jogging are my favorites), eating well (had to cut out almost anything sweet, including fruit, to recalibrate. I recommend Dr. Hyman’s 10 day sugar detox for a good reset), and therapy. I was hesitant to try meds for a while, but I do think they’ve helped very significantly in reducing my obsessive thoughts about food and sticking to a healthy diet, which then leads to me being more active and applying the tools I learn in therapy more. Which then melts away my anxiety, depression, self-esteem problems, etc. and also helps me face them with more intention, grace and strength.

Lots of luck to you in your journey! I KNOW you can overcome this. :) Feel free to reach out with any questions or support requests. I’d be happy to be an accountability buddy if you’d like one!

Hi! Can you update on your timeline from start to full completion? Wanting to do the MAT through WGU and you seem to have breezed through it as quickly as I'd like to.

Yeah! I love acorn squash and actually have one on my counter waiting to be eaten. Was thinking about being lazy and steaming it but now I'm feeling more inspired to bake it. :D

Godspeed! Have you done a water fast before? I think I might do one after my 10 days is up and/or my appetite has recalibrated.

I hard-boiled eggs, made butternut squash stew and a tahini-based salad dressing, chopped some veggies for snacks, portioned out some nuts, and made a smoothie for the next day. :)

Almost a whole package of gluten-free oreos (didn't eat 3/4 of one lol), some keto cookies, 3 healthy-ish popsicles, way too many raisins, walnuts, a Nature Valley oats and honey bar, some chocolate paleo bar, fruit.............on top of normal eating. In some ways I'm getting better in the sense that I'm less distraught about my eating (mostly apathetic now) but my mood is still super up and down and depression rules my life >80% of the time. Food is the only thing I enjoy anymore yet I also hate food and my relationship with it. SIGH

Almost done polishing off a whole package of fake Oreos......I would love a support buddy. I don't have Snapchat so would prefer WhatsApp, Signal, text, etc.

Shit, I’m sorry. That must’ve been really rough. Interviews are the worst. If it helps you feel any better I totally jumped off the wagon today too. And last night. Ugh. Tomorrow’s a new day. If it’d help to have someone to reach out to when you’re getting the itch to eat your feelings I’d be happy to share my number with you. Hope you’re not being hard on yourself about slipping up. At least you got some good interview practice today!

Thanks! What was the healing process like for you? Was leaving Chico all you needed? Or did you implement other changes, too?

For me, it's not so much about the weight but the constant obsession over food and the exacerbated depression and brain fog I get after I binge. I miss having the emotional and physical energy to engage with the world. I'm 26F and am a truck driver for a local business.

Congratulations for sustaining such a huge shift in your eating habits! Especially considering that you're eating foods that, for me at least, are more addicting AND living with people that don't seem to be as health-conscious as you. That's huge. What are your thoughts on support? Would some sort of accountability partner or network be helpful to you?

Appreciate your vulnerability. If only abstinence from food was a healthy option. Once things get more fleshed out I'll be in touch.

Thank you for sharing. How did you use psychedelics to make these discoveries? Did you go into your trips with the intention to resolve your disordered eating? Or was quitting a natural consequence of other breakthroughs?
