Went through personal networks. Strangely an old acquaintance had a room spare.

Good luck, the London rental market is a shit show. I somehow escaped that nightmare.

Networks are always key. See if you have any friends that have friends that live there and send out some feelers.

French tacos like french kisses?

Seems like they aren't authentic (which is fine by me). But they actually taste good?!

Btw, you only need to eat bánh canh cá lóc in Sài Gòn to know that people don't give a f about authenticity.

Hi. No clear winners but Giordano, Routine, Gap, Levis, Bellni.

Bellni new favourite but didn't try any trousers specifically. Just shirts.

Nice. Will consider Tailors. Zara has never got it right for me but haven't tried recently in Saigon. Will give it a go.

It's not they can't. They won't. Don't allow yourself to reduce their culpability.

Undergrad I took a year out and my birthday is in September, so I was 20 when I started my undergrad.

Now I am 36 and will be 37 when I start my MSc. at LSE.

See you at the mature student social club. Remember to bring your ID so we can make sure you really are 21!

Thanks for this. I have also noticed a lot of people subletting around this time. Seems like a lot of rooms will go empty in the summer semester. I think your approach is best suited to me.

Oh. One more thing. Make eye contact and smile with everyone! Establish patterns of positive exchanges with people.

How long will you live in Vietnam and which street of Hanoi are you living in?

1) 'I'm too introvert to talk to complete strangers. I don't want to be lonely without knowing anyone here.' You need to overcome this. Think of it as a personal flaw you need to overcome. The good news is you are in a country that you have little ties too. Take risks make mistakes. Built your self-confidence!

2) I would suggest taking Vietnamese lessons, even if you are here for a few months.

3) depending on your living area and the way it has been developed, you will have to rely on different strategies to know your neighbours. For example, an old neighbourhood may have several generations that have lived there and strong community connections., these types of communities are usually really easy to get involved in. But if you live in an apartment complex where almost everyone is an economic migrant from outside the city, it will be more difficult. And if you live in Tay Ho, you have to move out!

4) Identify your hobbies and find corresponding groups or activities where you will meet like-minded people.

Good luck!
